What’s the ruling of those who take pictures with phone and is there differing between the people of knowledge on the issue of tasweer?

Al-‘Allaamah Saalih Al-Fawzaan, may Allaah protect him:

Picture making is haraam in every medium; be it through phone, camera, drawing by hand, sculpturing or other than it. Tasweer is prohibited in all forms and in any medium it may be, due to the generality of the Hadeeths in the prohibition of tasweer. And the threat regarding it is a serious threat! And if differing occurs, it is not put into consideration except what the evidence points to. The point is not with the presence of differing, the point is what the evidence shows. And the evidence implies the impermissibility of picture making in any medium in general — camera, drawn by hand or other than it; all of it is impermissible! This is in accordance with the legislation! And there’s no paying attention to differing that contradicts the legislation. Yes!

🎙️ Sh. Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān (حفظه الله تعالى) was asked the following:

📥 Question:
There are those who single out the month of Rajab with fast; hence, is [there] anything that is confirmed [in the Sunnah to support this]?

📤 Answer:
The Shaikh had responded with the following:

"There is nothing that is confirmed from worship that is specific to the month of Rajab; no fasting, no salāḥ, no 'Umrah-absolutely nothing at all specific to it."

"[As for] those who are singling it out with worship, then they are the innovators since they introduced into the deen that which is not from it."

"Thus, Allah and His Messenger did not legislate any specific form of worship in Rajab; no 'Umrah, no animal sacrifice, no standing [in salāḥ] in any specific night and no fasting in any specific day. Rajab is simply like any other (sacred) month."

The month of al-Muḥarram ([like Rajab) is sacred, since it is from the four sacred months.

As for singling it out with worship, then this from innovation.

If as a scholar you want to preach now and you started from how to perform ablution, you are an hypocrite, in fact, you are an innovator because if people understand how to perform ablution and are performing it correctly, would it be useful for them or accepted from them with their bidah (innovation) and kufr (disbelief)? Allah would not accept the ablution. Subhanallahi!


When Alaro (a Mumayihoon scholar based in Ilorin, Kwara state) returned to Nigeria (from Saudi Arabia), he started his dawah (preaching) from ablution at Kuntu (an area in Ilorin). I lambasted him then and asked him about Taoheed (oneness of Allah). They (Mumayihoon scholars) are doing that because they don't want people to hate them. Even if I talk about ablution, they (people) would hate me because I would talk about innovations that people do while performing ablution but they (Mumayihoon scholars) won't do that .


You (scholars) must start from Taoheed, that was why the Prophet told Muadh when he was going to Yemen that, he should start his dawah from Taoheed (Sahil Bukhari Book 43), in fact, the Prophet told him that it's when they understand taoheed he should teach them how to perform solah (prayers). Allohu Akbar!
