I will like to share this with you all to encourage someone that there is indeed no limitation to your breakthrough, regardless of what the situation around you dictates. It’s a personal experience in 2016.

The Situation: I was working in a company for some years till sometimes this year. Sometimes last year, an incident happened at my work place related to an anonymous petition against the leadership team in my department. Suspicion was in the air as regards who the petitioner is/are. In reaction to this, I privately told my boss, who was directly implicated about the person/people I suspected, because I had informal relationship with my boss. Unfortunately, my boss decided to accuse me instead and unapologetically believed I did it. I obviously didn’t know what went under-current after our private discussion. My boss told me how weapons of destruction will be unleashed against me as a payback. To spare details, I was practically relegated. Rarely consulted, rarely involved.

My Response at Work: as a managerial student, I realised that I failed to follow the work ethics rule of not “ratting in on your colleagues”. Believe me, there are work rules to be mastered. Though I was deeply hurt, but I ensured I exhibited the best of my Emotional Intelligence. I gave my best on the little project I was involved; maintained my balance at the few meetings I was involved; shared my opinion on work tasks; refused escalating the matter by not discussing it with people or reporting the injustice meted on me etc.

My Response in my Secret place: though seriously hurt, I concluded my time was up at the work place. So, I decided to communicate with the God that is all-knowing. I realized my office was a Jacuzzi pool, and not an Olympic size pool that I will want to swim. Rather than make a request for me to be vindicated, I told God I wanted a relocation to an Olympic pool. With prayer and fasting, I sought God. I joined the 50days fasting & prayer of RCCG. In February, the month of “Arresting the Arrester” in RCCG, Daddy G.O. made a pronouncement “there is someone here, the Lord said I should tell you that people have conspired against you in the office. The Lord said you will defeat them. They have conspired against you before, you defeated them. Yet, they have conspired again. The Lord says, not only will you defeat them this time, but you will defeat them permanently”. I knew it was my case 100%. I tapped into it and ran with the word. I knew it was settle. How? I don’t know, but I believed.

My Testimony: that same month in February, I was head-hunted by an international company. The recruitment period was short, and God led me through it all. I resumed the job months ago. The job breadth is far ahead of what I was doing before; the tax on my new salary is far above the total monthly salary of my former job (I was well paid before); I have travelled to countries on a flight class I only dream of; I have met people I could only imagine meeting. Hmmmm…only God could have turned around my situation in the time our dear nation, Nigeria is experiencing a recession. God is still doing wonders. No situation can limit him. We all remember Olajumoke, the bread seller.

My Lessons: though I believed I was close to my boss both formally and informally, I was wrong. Never be too trusting to tell it all privately or too careless to tell it all publicly; Never rat in on your colleague no matter the situation; Never allow yourself to be defeated psychologically; Always run to your God in every situation.

In conclusion, every challenge that leads you to a breakthrough is a good challenge. I pray that God will meet each and everyone’s need in 2017 and beyond. Happy New year & God bless Nigeria.
