I recall learning that Edo even dragged Igbos out of the house in Benin to be killed. My grandmother also remembered that the people that directed the troops to Ogwashi Uku were Edo people, most specifically bini. During Ogwashi uku's own massacre, the edo were literally pointing out the igbo and non igbo people to the troops....in addition to partaking actually shooting and beating aniomas to death. My grandmother remembered that detail because she saw it with her own two eyes. The only reason she and the rest of her family survived was because her dad spoke fluent bini and Esan language so her dad lied that he was Edo rather than igbo. Infact some denial of not being igbo in aniomaland started because of the singular act of edo people during the Biafra war.
Very few people realize that the massacre in Anioma didn't happen just in Asaba, it happened in several anioma territories starting from Igbanke all the way down to asaba. Asaba is the most known and talked about because of Asaba close proximity of Biafra hence some of our people were able to escape to Biafra and tell the story. Ogwashi, igbodo, etc were not that lucky hence their own died down.
