Kobojunkie:
All the Supreme Court did here was reassert the Constitution on this issue. I don't understand why Nigerians are busy celebrating or pretending things have changed. So long as the people refuse to call their governors out and at least threaten them with impeachment, nothing will change both at the State, and Local levels even with this ruling. undecided

I see where it is stated, and given what is stated, I don't see why a Local government council should not be expected to do all of this if it is truly committed to the people. undecided
Yes, note that the state house of assembly has the oversight to prescribe functions to the local government.

People screaming that they are now independent and can rebel against the State are just clowning around.

There is no argument, don’t create one where there is none. Local govt doesn’t need to do state’s road. State doesn’t need to do council’s road.

State doesn’t need to pay council’s staff salaries.

They both have their distinct responsibilities.
Just like State doesn't need to do Federal roads. 😁

I have to ask you since neither Section 7 nor Section 8 which define the office of Local Government, do not specify this is supposed to do like 80% of everything that needs to be done. that you claim. undecided

If local govt takes up 80% , what will state govt use their own allocations to do?

They both have distinct responsibilities and each will face what concerns it. For in stance, we have state roads and we have council’s roads. They also have their staff which they need to be responsible for.
Lol. Arguments are coming. Shey States dey fix Federal roads since then take the bill to Federal? Lol.

Kobojunkie:
What you are asking for has absolutely nothing to do with what happened this week though. It had nothing to do with LG autonomy. Rather, it was an attempt to excuse the many excesses of governments up till now where it concerns LG accounts when in fact the Constitution since 1999 has been clear that the accounts in question belong only to the LG, not Governors. What this means is governors who have been accessing those accounts have done so illegally. undecided
Well said.

Why will traditional rulers take 5% of the allocation?

On what basis and for what?

The Governors are not happy. They will just abandon their responsibilities and force the local govt to take them up while stealing the money.
This is confusing. I thought the LG is being funded to take up responsibility? Lol. From the 1999 constitution it appears the local government is supposed to do like 80% of everything that needs to be done.

Nigerians will never learn. 😎

Sports › Re: Ronaldo Heading Home As France Beats Portugal 5-3 In A Penalty Shootout In Euro by NothingDoMe: 10:21pm On Jul 06, 2024
Almiron:
Mistiano Penado is the sole reason why Portugal is out of the Euros, not Felix's penalty miss.

The old fraud is washed up and someone should remind him. As expected, he wasn't really interested in his country's triumph, rather his own personal glory, massaging his badly bruised ego
.

Since Messi won the World Cup in 2022, his life has never been the same, which gives me a lot of joy. I drink his tears and that of his delusional fanbase.

He wasn't just a ghost in the match, he was a liability for the team and the sole reason why they lost. I mean, I can understand Pepe in the heart of the defense; his experience is needed. The man is a beast, looks like he can still play for two more years.

Come on, this is 2024. Starting a 39-year-old washed-up player upfront ahead of players like Jota and Gonzalo Ramos, what was Martinez thinking? Even deciding a penalty kick in the round of sixteen, a madman lost it, if not for the keeper who saved the day.

I guess they were fooled by his performance in the desert league. We told them he wasn't playing with professional footballers, just some random kabirus, part-time Alfas, and mechanics.

Now it's obvious; the guy didn't even register a goal throughout the tournament and had no impact whatsoever, except crying like a clown.

They should give him the "Crying d'Or" already. As he was crying, you'd think it was passion; the dude was after personal glory. He wanted to be the oldest player to score in the European tournament.

He didn't just fail, he crumbled, which gives me a lot of joy. Imagine that average French side sent Portugal home, what a joke! A Portugal side without Penado would have flogged this French team because they're trash, with exceptions of a few players.

The same glory hunting made him play an irrelevant match during the round of sixteen against Georgia. The coach rested all the key players, but the weyreh still started and it ended in tears.

My Portugal hate-watch is over. Now I can support them in peace.

I declare this violence session open in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost...

Messi FC shall we ....

Penadogs una tears in my mentions as usual...

The easiest way to get attention now is to create stories of couples in diaspora having issues. Most Nigerians are a jealous lot and are always secretly excited to hear bad news about others.

Then again, bloggers like this will never be truly successful, success is by original and quality content not half baked content.
