Education / 7 Most Student Friendly Side Hustles In Nigeria | Student Hustles by npower112(m): 3:48am On Oct 23, 2017
Student Hustles – Being a student most times means you have to rely on someone else for your income. Most people feel like they have to get a degree first before they will ever be qualified to work. But that is a myth and this article is set to debunk it. There are many side hustles you can engage in as a student that will not interfere with your academic performance and still give you good cash.

Student Hustles

You can still make money for yourself while studying to get a degree. You can start building your empire while still a student. How much you make is totally dependent on you. These seven side hustles that will be listed in this article are bound to fetch you a reasonable amount of cash.

Makeup as a side hustle

Making up is not only to enhance just your look. It is an art, while some are good at it, others are not. If you are really good then why not cash in on it? Many people would pay a good amount for someone else to give them the perfect make up look. You can even expand your skill to costume make up. The kind that movie producers and directors seek to enhance actors looks. You can continue with it after school and build an empire from it. Founder of House of Tara- Tara Fela-Durotoye started out as a makeup artist while still studying Law at the University of Lagos and today she has a well known company to her name.

Ushering

This is one of the most suitable side hustles for students because it is so compatible with a student’s time table. All it requires is signing up with or making an agreement with an event planner so that every weekend when there is an event you get called up and paid to usher at the event.

Freelance Graphic designing

If you already own a laptop then this would really suit you. All you need to do is to learn how to use Photoshop and/or Corel draw. You don’t necessarily have to pay to learn, you can always hop on YouTube and download some tutorials. And when you have acquired the skill, you can start designing posters for events or even complementary cards and logos. It all depends on how good you are. You set your price yourself. And because it is freelance you choose when you want to work and when you don’t.
Buying and Selling

You don’t need to own or rent a shop to buy and sell. You can start with the small necessities like tissue paper, exercise book, noodles etc. Just look out for what the people around you need the most and sell it to them. You can buy in as small a quantity as your room can accommodate and restock when you run out of stock.
Side hustle

Hair dressing

You don’t need a salon for this either. As long as you have the skill you can even make people’s hair in your room. As a matter of fact all you need to pull this off is the skill, your combs and a chair (your customers will not stand while you make their hair nau).

Freelance Writing

If you are good with writing articles or short stories, you should consider sending in applications to write for an online blog or even a magazine publication. The beauty of freelance is that you can choose a schedule that is most convenient to you. You can also work for many different corporations at the same time and be paid. This way you are in total control of when to take jobs and when not to, so it does not clash with your school work.

Baking

Baking is one of the most popular side hustles in Nigerian universities. It is also one of the cheapest to set up. You don’t even need an oven for it. You can transform your kerosene stove to a make-shift oven. Cakes and other confectioneries are always in high demand in Nigerian campuses; this gives you a ready market to take advantage of. Students and even non-students like to celebrate events with cakes, cash in on it!
