EducationJsmb New Cute Off Mark:arewa Youth Calls For Oyolede's Investigation by NTAi(op): 12:18pm On Aug 31, 2017
JAMB NEW CUTOFF MARKS: AREWA YOUTH CALLS FOR PROFESSOR OYOLEDE’S INVESTIGATION.
The federal government has been urged to set up a panel to investigate the activities of the registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Prof. Ishaq Oloyode, over his glaring incompetence and counter-productive policies capable of undermining the developmental strides of the president Muhammadu Buhari led government in the educational sector.
The president of the Arewa Youth Council, Comrade Dogo Shagari made this call during a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday. Comrade Shagari noted that the JAMB chief executive has so far performed below par in his assignment in JAMB, stressing that the 2017 UTME conducted by JAMB, the first under Prof. Oloyode’s watch, was the worst in the history of the board. He blamed the poor outing on Prof. Oloyode’s lack of planning and organizational skills, adding that his actions led to a great deal of suffering for candidates.
On the new cutoff marks of 120 set by JAMB for admission into Nigerian universities, Comrade Shagari noted that the policy is a total disaster to the educational system. According to the youth leader, a country like Nigeria whose educational system is in a moribund state should only set standards that are higher than previous ones. He described the new cutoff mark policy as a sign that JAMB is towing the path of taking Nigeria’s education standard backwards, urging President Muhammadu Buhari not to ignore this sign. “how can a responsible institution like JAMB tell the whole world that prospective Nigerian students no longer have the intellectual capacity to score higher marks in UTME ?” he queried. The president further stressed that 120 is just a mere 30% of the total marks obtainable in UTME, a score very far below the minimum pass mark of 40% in our elementary schools. Comrade Shagari added that the JAMB boss is projecting Nigeria in a light described by famous American professor of history, Eric Foner, as “a country whose actual practices all too frequently contradicts its professed ideals”.
Comrade Shagari described Nigerian students as very brilliant and hardworking, wondering why Prof. Oloyode led JAMB thinks otherwise.

"Only Buhari can Stabilize Nigeria" -Dr. Olisa Agbakoba.

Former president of the Nigeria Bar Association, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba SAN, has charged youths to wholly support the President Muhammadu Buhari led government in order to build the Nigeria of everyone's dreams. Dr. Agbakoba stated this when a delegation of Arewa Youth Council paid him a courtesy visit on Thursday August 24 2017, in his office in Lagos. The veteran legal luminary stated that the country has decayed to a level that only people with superficially unquestionable integrity and experience can salvage it; only President Muhammadu Buhari is one such man and the best man for the job in present day Nigeria. According to Dr Agbakoba, President Buhari's affirmation that the unity of Nigeria is not negotiable further confirms his convinction that Buhari has the will power, courage, commitment and resilience to lead Nigeria to greater heights. On the issue of youth involvement in nation building, Dr Agbakoba charged Youth from all over the country to unite in their diversity in order to make a meaningful impact in the business of governance. In his words,"Youths of northern and southern extraction must unite sincerely and forge a common course of unifying and transforming Nigeria".
Earlier, the President of Arewa Youth Council and leader of the delegation, Comrade Dogo Shagari extolled the virtues of Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, describing him as a role model for Nigerian Youth. According to the Youth leader, Dr Agbakoba is one of the very few Nigerians who sincerely believe in the unity of Nigeria without sinister motives. Comrade Shagari described Dr Agbakoba as "one man the whole nation looks up to as a person who has paid his dues in the evolution of modern Nigeria." The Youth leader affirmed that Dr Agbakoba's struggle in the human rights community to make Nigeria a better place and a nation that adheres to the tenets of the rule of law have never gone unnoticed. The erudite Comrade further stated that he and his team deemed it necessary to visit Dr Agbakoba in continuation of seeking out eminent Nigerians like him to intervene in issues of present day Nigeria that leaves majority of the citizens worried about the state of the country. "All over the country, there are pockets of crises that need calm voices and steady hands to control.
We have identified you as one of the most articulate and passionate patriots of the contemporary Nigerian society and our mission today is to challenge you to do more to halt the drift in our nation and help steady the ship of our state.
You are a man a lot of people, young, old and across every divide look up to. You and your types fought for the enthronement of democracy in nigeria. Unfortunately, the political space have been hijacked by people that neither understand the system nor have the capacity to deliver leadership that can lift our people from hunger and want." Comrade Shagari added. He further charged Dr Agbakoba to heed their clarion call and come back to the arena and provide the leadership and mentoring capabilities that he is renowned for. "We are all citizens of this great country and it is our collective duty to make it work", Shagari added.
Other members of the delegation include a former Students Union President of ABU Zaria, Barr. Abdulmalik Alfa, Barr. Sadiq Abdullahi, Comrade Jackson Ogezi and Comrade Nana Firdausi Hamza.

PoliticsRatgate: Withdraw Your Statement Now; Arewa Youth Blasts Garba Shehu by NTAi(op): 1:46pm On Aug 26, 2017
The Arewa Youth Council has asked presidential media aide, Garba Shehu, to withdraw the statement he made that rats have taken over President Muhammadu Buhari's office, prompting the president to work from home. In a statement issued by the body after its emergency stakeholders meeting at Arewa house in Kaduna over the weekend, the organization noted that the statement is not only childish and careless, it is causing the country a national embarrassment.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the meeting which lasted several hours, the President of the forum, Comrade Dogo Shagari, noted that the organization would take necessary steps to push the matter further should Garba Shehu fail to withdraw the statement. Comrade Shagari stressed that the statement further shows the level of incompetence and unprofessionalism that has become a characteristic of the people who are supposed to be key imagine makers of President Buhari. "How can someone in their right senses say that the president can not come to his office because of rats? Garba Shehu should find something else to tell Nigerians instead of that cock-and-bull story", the Youth leader added.
Comrade Shagari also said that the organization is looking into the withdrawal of the ultimatum given to the Ibos to leave the north, saying that his organization will ensure that the Ibos and all others non northerners living in the north would be protected to ensure the continual unity of Nigeria in line with President Muhammadu Buhari's quality leadership agenda.
According to him, the withdrawal of the statement per say does not guarantee the complete safety of the earlier threatened people, stressing that all hands must be on deck to ensure that such unfortunate comments are not made again anywhere in the country. Comrade Shagari therefore called on President Muhammadu Buhari to issue a directive for the arrest of all those involved in that incident. He further noted that such statements constitute emotional terrorism and are capable of causing national large scale violence. "President Muhammadu Buhari should arrest and prosecute Prof. Ango Abdullahi (for backing the earlier quite notice) as well as all those who Constitute a threat to the nation's unity", he said.

PoliticsArewa Youth Welcome Mr President Back To Nigeria by NTAi(op): 12:15pm On Aug 26, 2017
AREWA YOUTH WELCOME YOU BACK TO NIGERIA,MR PRESIDENT

I wish to in a very special way, welcome the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) back to the country (Nigeria) from his medical trip to the United Kingdom. It would be recalled that Mr. President left Nigeria for the United Kingdom on the 7th of May, 2017 to seek medical attention abroad after transmitting a letter to the National Assembly to hand over power to his Vice (Prof. Yemi Osinbajo) to act in acting capacity as the President in line with the provision of the constitution. So many things transpired back here (Nigeria) in his absence - ranging from the rumours of his death by some members of the opposition party and political enemies, to the speculation of Mr. President being on a life support machine by some power-hungry political elements. After all the rumours, all thanks to Almighty God the giver of life and the sustenance of good health. Mr. President is back hale and hearty contrary to the wish of your enemies, even though Mr. President has no permanent enemy as a true father. Arewa Youth Council is particularly thankful to God whom has granted Mr. President a quick and speedy recovery. Mr. President, Arewa Youth Council wishes to state categorically that, your speedy recovery is a sure sign that Nigeria's economy will in no time, recover and bounce back to reposition Nigeria as the Giant of Africa again, in no time.

While we are overwhelmed with happiness over Mr. President's return in sound health of mind and body, it is important that we (AYC) advise Your Excellency as a matter of urgency to put your cabinet members through some sorts of loyalty tests so as to confirm their true state of loyalty. This, we think is pertinent because, while you were away, some of them compromised their loyalties to the extent that, they went dining and wining with people whose political ideologies were/are not in the same page with Your Excellency's. We suggest you do this in no time because, an outright enemy is far better than an insincere brother. Hmm! A stitch in time they say, saves nine.

It is worthy of note that, Nigerians entrusted you with their votes in the 2015 election that ushered you into power again, as the President and Commander-in-chief of Nigeria's Armed Forces - as the only hope of the ordinary man, to pilot the affairs of an almost crumbled nation Nigeria to stardom - not to die in office as were speculated by your political enemies. While some whom we refer to as "educated illiterates", yes, educated illiterates because they have no clear understanding of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, were busy protesting for an unconstitutional and unpatriotic course (#ResumeOrResign - #OurMumuDonDo), God was busy equipping you with the needed health, strength, vision, wisdom, knowledge and the know-how that would enable you (Mr. President) finish the good work you have started.

Not withstanding, while you were away, one Nnamdi Kanu was busy making inflammatory comments and hate speeches - speeches capable of breaching the peace, order, unity and oneness Nigeria enjoys as a country. Arewa Youth Council would like to state clearly that the interest of Nigeria as one United and Indivisible entity supersedes the greedy and selfish interest of one rascal, unpatriotic and rebellious individual who parades himself as the leader of one united, industrious, law abiding and peace loving group of people (d Nd'Igbo). We therefore suggests that, rather than folding our arms and watch him ruin the peace and oneness this country enjoys, he should be rearrested in the best interest of public paffair's of the nation are piloted in line with global best practices during your stay in the United Kingdom. All these, he was doing with undiluted loyalty and patriotism and in recognition of the fact that as a steward, his boss (Mr. President) would be back someday and he would need to give account of his stewardship
