The only Reason US still want Qatar on its side is because of its military base which can be used as deterrence against Iran and Qatar got a lot of money to spend for that.

Qatar also wants US protection from Iranian influence because it's a monarch. Iran isn't friendly to Arab monarch. They want Islamic theocracy everywhere.

For US It's better to keep that rich annoying friend than to lose him to your enemies.
For Qatar it's better to still get US protection and still be in power than to lose its head to Iranian extremist.
