Charltex: Diploma remains the basic requirement for UK RN.
"Mapping" comes into play when you want to do a Top Up program or any academic program. Thanks for the clarification. But then, amma reserve all comments till I contact my senior who went to Conventry University, UK to verify these you've said. Thanks once again. Cheers |

Charltex: Hello NurzCee,
In the UK, an organization called NARIC does what is called "mapping" on international certificates to compare it with the UK academic system. Most Nigerian Nursing Diploma certificates don't measure up to the UK diploma Certificate to proceed with the BSC Top Up instantly, they measure up-to level 3; whereas you need a level 5 to proceed with BSC Top Up. Hence, the need for a sort of bridge program to level up. No one is issued an Associate Certificate, what Cowbelly is saying in essence is that our diploma certificates don't measure up to the required level after Mapping. Okay? I think i understand u now BUT how come single qualified RNs from Nigeria gets jobs there as UK-RNs? |

CowbellY: If you can share them then, because someone else also confirmed that an associate certificate is requested.
Or perhaps you apply and share your experience so we can know better Are u a registered nurse? If yes, RN or BscN? For UK that I'm very sure about. They don't require any associate certificate. Let the person that told u so send the link here, so I can take a look at it. I have my own links if u wanna take a look at it |

CowbellY: Yes but I also asked earlier.
Have you attempted a top-up ? Were you allowed to proceed directly into BSc Nursing without an associate/graduate module first ?. I've not attempted any top up yet, but I've got some good number of schools ready to accept just RN and after a year, you would be awarded BSc Nursing (Hons) |

CowbellY: Thanks.
I was told Nigeria's RN is rated as Level 3.
Seems everyone has to do an associate first. You mean after you've bn made a UK RN or before? Please verify yaa information well oo because I think you're wrong |

Thanks Thanks, unfortunately the conversation didn't hold again. Needed to verify his story, so I told him to send me his IELTS results, and that he should blur his Name and exam number(so he won't feel that I wanna use his result for anything) I needed to be sure he is truly who he says he is. Na so I no come hear from bros again ooo.lol I've heard similar case like this happen to me last year. Gave someone an information, not knowing that he was a visa agent. After giving him all the information, this Same guy can back on nairaland and was doing adverts that he has good links to Germany and Czech republic bla bla....so i told myself that I won't fall for any shit like that again. |

Laurendee: Can a registered nurse with a BSN also apply for a post graduate certificate in critical care nursing or nursing leadership and administration let’s say in a college? Is it possible to get admission and visa since the person also has a bsn Yes, but you can't work as a RN there, since you don't have their license to practice... |

POAK: Hi NurzCee, I am a registered basic midwife that did post basic nursing program (18 months). I already passed ielts and I am about to register in the NMC UK website. Should i register as an adult nurse or a midwife or is it possible to register for both as i am a little confused ? I will immensely appreciate your reply. Thank you Register for "Adult Nurse", Our Midwifery here in Nigeria isn't really recognised there, unless you go through their own school of midwifery.. |

Itsgrace: Good morning everyone, I am a graduate of Human physiology, I want to become a registered nurse outside the country, what steps should I take about it. First you have to be a registered nurse in Nigeria, before thinking of becoming a registered nurse abroad. OR you go to the country of your choice and study nursing directly. The invariably means you can't practice in Nigeria, moreover its super expensive |

tobyemmanuel: OK thanks. I have a friend who will complete her RN program next year. Now she's planning what next after the program. She's divided between going for BSN or working. She doesn't want to work or study in Nigeria. I'd like to know how studying nursing abroad works and the process. She's really concerned about the number of years it will take. About working, I'd like to know how that works too including the best countries to go and process involved. Conventry university, England. Yes she can work and study(full time) |
