Women are generally stingy with their resources. As a man, do not pray to be in a situation where your wife is the provider or where you have to depend on your wife. It never ends well. Yes, there are exceptions no doubt but in a vast majority of cases, it'd not augur well. While I am not averse to women making own money, as a man, make sure you're constantly developing yourself so that you can be in a position where you never run out of money. Develop yourself to an extent where you can always provide value. What some men do is stop developing and prioritizing themselves and instead focus on their spouse. They prioritize the ambitions of their spouse. Some will even expend all their savings to sponsor their wife's ambitions all in the name of being woke. I have a friend who is earning moderate salary but is borrowing money everywhere including from me to fund his wife's master's program in the UK with the hope that when he gets to the UK, his wife will be the provider. Till today, he has failed to return the total amount he borrowed from me. I have made up my mind not to borrow him any dime as. I have dropped subtle hints to this guy just to make him realize the path he has chosen is risky and urge him to instead spend the money on himself to acquire advanced degree that might position him to earn more or relocate. but i guess love is blind and experience they say is the best teacher. Each time we talk, its always about what his good for his wife and never what is good for him. He will keep emphasizing on how his woman will take of the family when he gets there. I have rest my case. Different strokes for different folks. It may well turn out to be a good decision for him. Life's never a straight line. But that's a risk I personally will not take. As African men, It is our pride to provide for our family and I wear that responsibility with pride, the same cannot be said of women. They are mostly selfish and stingy regardless of how rich they might be. Statistically speaking, most charity work is done by men. Personally, I work really hard to make money and provide for my family. I also do not lose sight of taking care of myself while at it - very important. |
determination26:Thanks. Very helpful. I'm a guy. I'll go for the contact option. |
determination26:This is awesome. Thanks for your sharing your experience. I might go for the contact lens option. I had thought about it but some friends do complain about red eyes or an irritation of some sort. They also mention how one must always take it off before going to bed. So I kinda thought contact lenses would be as much as uncomfortable as the glasses, but it appears that your experience is quite different. Do you experience some of these issues with contact lenses as well? Your feedback would be appreciated. |
Hello All, I have heard so much about LASIK surgery for treating short sightedness but I haven't had the courage to go for it until recently that I started contemplating about it. I eventually made up my mind to stop wearing glasses. The wahala with glasses is just too uncomfortable. Imagine, I can't slay with my dark shades as I wanted. Everyone always look at me as an overly serious person (just kidding though, but I just want to drop the glasses for good). I decided to visit an Eye clinic in VI. After conducting numerous tests, the doctor concluded that my eyes were not suitable for the LASIK surgery due to the limited thickness of the cornea. They recommended Toric IOL , which is the same as cataract surgery to correct my vision and will make me to stop wearing glasses. Lately, I developed cold feet and had to delay payment for the surgery to enable think through it one more time. I have done extensive research about the cataract surgery on the internet to gain more knowledge about what it entails especially from a safety point of view. While, research indicates that it is generally a safe procedure, there's still a 1-2% chance of complications happening which could lead to permanent loss of vision. While this statistics should have given me some comfort, unfortunately it hasn't. I have been hung up on the 1-2% chance of failure. I have a beautiful career and long years before retirement. I have a beautiful nuclear and extended family that I cater for and they cannot afford for anything to happen to me. I'd like to get your opinions and thoughts about going ahead with this surgery. Is it worth taking this life changing move? Has anyone been in the same shoe as mine? Has anyone undergone the same surgery in the past? How did you subdue the fear? Kindly drop your comments, thoughts and experience that will help me make an informed decision. Thank you. |
Dam5reey:Thank you |
Dam5reey:1. Honestly I have no idea. 2. Sunshine solar panel 3. The battery has 6 LED lights to indicate SOC (see picture) according to the manual but since I got it, all the lights have stayed on even when I'm using the battery to power the load. all the lights just stay on which is quite weird. I suspect that probably because the BMS has not been configured, so the lights are not able to show the state of charge correctly. So I have been relying on the inverter panel to read the battery voltage. 4. I used an installer.

HeavenlyBang:The load fluctuates between 336 - 400W |
Hello Guys, I just installed a 6kva inverter system. The inverter brand is Gospower (6kva) while the battery brand is Marstek (5120Wh). This combination was recommended to me by someone. It's been up to 3 weeks since I installed this system and I am not yet impressed. The first issue I have observed is that I hardly get up to half of the total power output of the solar panels (10 x 330W). I understand it's cloudy but the few times the sun has shone bright, the maximum output is usually around 400-500W. Second issue: I observed an anomaly yesterday when power went off. I observed that the voltage on the inverter panel dropped drastically to 48V from like 54-55V upon disconnecting from the power grid. This was shocking to me. Then shortly after that like 5 mins, the voltage dropped further to 47V which triggered the inverter to shut down. I had set a low DC voltage of 47V. My load consumption is very small - ranges from 200W to 400W. 400W during the day when the industrial fan is on. All other appliances are basic. My next course of action was reaching out to someone to come do an independent troubleshooting and inspection as I can't tell where the fault is coming from: inverter, battery or the installation. Secondly, I contacted the battery manufacturer to complain about the issue and they promised to send a technician over. I'm still in shock as regards what might have caused this issue. First Pic was taken shortly after power went off showing the drastic drop in voltage. Second pick was taken upon restoration of power in about 10 mins when it first went off. As you can see, the battery charge status shows a fully charged battery and voltage rose back to somewhere between the float and bulk voltage.

Dam5reey:I'm based in Lagos |
Nutridelfarms:Dear All, Got a quotation from another installer, just for comparison sake. Is the second quotation not an overkill. I thought I'd be making some savings from a partial DIY then the second installer came with this? Experts in the house, what do you think about this?
|
HeavenlyBang:Thank you . What's the downside of installing 1800W in 6 month? Not an expert but asking out of curiosity |
Dam5reey:Much appreciated |
Dam5reey:Thank you for your comments. You're right about the installer taking the warranty up in case anything happens but that doesn't justify unnecessary mark up in the price. Increase in the price, fair enough but let it be reasonable. Honestly, money is not easy to come by these days. It's hard to cough out this much and I'm sure you understand. I want to optimize where I can and where possible and feasible with sacrificing quality. I am open to a win-win option that works fine for myself and the installer but he doesn't want to bulge on the prices, hence, the need to procure the materials myself. |
Good day people, I intend to install a 5/6kva hybrid inverter. I have attached the quotation received from my installer. Just wanted to get remark about the adequacy and reasonableness of this quotation from knowledgeable folks and experts in the house. I welcome any advice, suggestions, comments. Is it advisable to combine a particular brand of inverter (eg GOspower) with a totally different brand of lithium battery (MARSTEK)? While my installer quoted 1.7M for the battery, I did some research and found the contact of the main dealer of the battery in Nigeria. I could get it for 1.2M directly from their office in Ogba. However, the hybrid inverter of the same brand (MARSTEK) cost 1.2M and they're not willing to reduce the price. They advise buying their inverter and battery together but completely optional with a caveat though - that combining my battery with a different brand of the inverter voids my warranty (10 years), as they cannot vouch for the performance of the inverter I would use if it's not from them or one of brands they've tested. They sent me a list of other brands that their battery is compatible with, however, the prices are ridiculously high compared to theirs. Is it worth taking the risk to go ahead with the quotation given to me by my installer? I don't just think I want to buy an inverter of over 1.2M. It's a lot mehn.
