However, I am saddened by the confirmed reports of violence and gross disenfranchisement of voters who only wished to perform their civic duty.

Attacks on polling units, voters, and our party agents are totally antithetical to what we stand for & what Lagos truly represents.
Collusion between the ruling party and electoral officials to return the candidate of the APC is a slap on the face of democracy and everyone who came out to vote for us on Saturday.

In the light of this, I am convinced beyond any doubt that the results being released by INEC do not represent the wishes of majority of peaceful Lagosians.

More so the results from our field agents and situation room indicated that we won this election.

I am a champion of the people, we are far from done. Do not lose hope, do not waver.

This is not over, we have not come this far to accept outright lies, criminality & falsehoods.

A fight for FREEDOM is never easily won.

Every vote cast for me was done in the face of intimidation and risk of personal harm. Every such vote must count.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested four party agents in the Ibara axis of Ogun state with hundreds of credit cards intended for vote buying, IGBERETV reports.

A statement released by NDLEA did not mention the name of the political party to which the arrested party agents belong.

The chairman of the agency, Buba Marwa, has directed that they should be handed over to the police after proper documentation.

“Operatives of NDLEA on election duty stop and search, just intercepted four party agents with hundreds of money credit cards, to buy votes at Ibara housing estate, Ogun state. Each card contains 10k and activated to cash with a code., ”the statement read in part.

"Armed political thugs with AK-47 riffles invaded my polling unit @booth 10, Ogboji ward, Ezza North LGA Ebonyi State. They came in two Carter motorcycles.

"One of them surrendered me with AK-47 at a very close range while others thugs pursued other people in the bush. How I managed to find myself outside the polling centre remains mysterious to me. I was almost a dead person today.

"They beat my brother, Mr Nweke Peter JP to coma. He is being rushed to hospital according to reports from those still around there. The hoodlums were also said to have set ablaze all the electoral materials in the three booths in Ndiagu Ogboji.,booths 009, 010 and 011."

Court Jails Yobe Auditor General Five Years for Fraud

Alhaji Idris Yahaya, the Auditor General for Local Government, Yobe State, is to spend five years in prison, following his conviction today, Monday, March 13, 2023, by Justice Muhammad Lawu Lawan of the Yobe State High Court.

He was convicted after being pronounced guilty of a one count of criminal misappropriation to the tune of Nineteen Million, Nine Hundred Thousand Naira (N19, 900,000.00) preferred against them by the Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Yahaya received funds from the Office of the Auditor General for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Yobe State, for the purchase of an official vehicle, a 2015 Toyota Corolla, and diverted part of the money to his personal use.

The one count charge reads: ''That you, Yahaya Lawal Idris, being the Auditor General for Local Government, Yobe State, between the 20th to 21st day of May, 2017 at Damaturu, Yobe State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, received the sum of N19,900,000.00 via your personal account number 1001480930 with account name Alhaji Yahaya Idris domiciled in United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) from the Local Government Audit Account Number 5030030060 domiciled in Fidelity Bank Plc for the purchase of a brand new Toyota Corolla 2015 Model, did dishonestly misappropriated the gross sum of N10,100,000.00 (Ten Million, One Hundred Thousand Naira) only.”

The convict who was first arraigned on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, had pleaded not guilty to the charges, setting the stage for his full trial. In the course of the trial, counsel for the EFCC, Mukhtar Ali Ahmed called four witnesses and tendered documents which were admitted in evidence.

Delivering judgment today, Justice Lawan held that the prosecution has proved the case against the defendant and convicted him as charged. He consequently sentenced him to 5 years imprisonment with an option of fine.

The Judge further directed the convict to pay the sum of N10, 100,000.00 (Ten Million, One Hundred Thousand Naira) in restitution to Yobe State Government through the EFCC or serve additional two years in prison.

The Nigeria police has declared a member of the House of Representatives, Bauchi Federal Constituency, Yakubu Abdullahi Shehu, wanted, IGBERETV reports.

A gazette citing CRO Form 5 issued from the Office of the Inspector General of Police, says Yakubu is being wanted in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy, causing grievous hurt, inciting disturbance of public peace, and culpable homicide.

The police is asking anyone with useful information about his whereabouts to contact them, promising N1m as a bounty on the lawmaker.

The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu has admited that the elections conducted by the Commission on February 25, was not perfect, IGBERETV reports.

Mahmood Yakubu disclosed this on Saturday in Abuja at a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners RECs.

The INEC chairman said that officials of the commission, including ad-hoc or collation personnel, who may have been found wanting in the conduct of the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly Elections will not be involved in the forthcoming elections.

He said; “As we approach the Governorship and State Assembly elections, we must work harder to overcome the challenges experienced in the last election. Nothing else will be acceptable to Nigerians. All staff found to be negligent, whether they are regular or ad hoc officials, including Collation and Returning Officers, must not be involved in forthcoming elections. RECs must also immediately initiate disciplinary action where prima facie evidence of wrongdoing has been established”

He said that complaints and petitions from political parties and candidates regarding the February 25 election, were received by the Commission's state offices. According to him, where unprofessional practice of any kind are proven, there will be redress.

On the day of the next election, Yakubu said that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BVAS will once again be deployed for voter accreditation and result management. He said the deployment of BVAS has gone a long way to sanitise voter accreditation as can be seen from the result of recent elections.

“Since last week, the Commission has intensified the review of the technology to ensure that glitches experienced, particularly with the upload of results are rectified. We are confident that going forward the system will run optimally”, he said.

The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the suspension of all daily ticket levies on tricycle and minibus operators in the state for five days, IGBERETV reports.

In a statement released by the state Commissioner for Transport, Uno Etim Uno, the state government said the gesture was to cushion the ongoing cash crunch and other challenges suffered by transporters as a result of the cashless policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The statement reads in part;

“Due to the harsh realities occasioned by the cash crunch in the country, the Akwa Ibom State Government hereby graciously announces a five-day suspension of daily ticketing for operators of commercial tricycles and minibuses. The suspension takes immediate effect from Monday, March 13 till Friday, March 17, 2023.

This development will help the operators breathe a sigh of relief as they struggle to earn a living amidst these biting hard times. The government notified all operators of tricycles and minibuses as well as the monitoring unit of the development and possible compliance. The general public, particularly operators of commercial tricycles and minibuses and the Compliance and Monitoring team are hereby notified of this development.”

The commissioner urged the benefitting transporters to use the five days tax holiday to take an active part in the governorship and state Assembly poll reschedule for March 18, 2023, in the state

“In continued support for the state government, transporters are urged to use the five days of grace to prepare to take an active part in the governorship and state assembly elections slated for Saturday, March 18, 2023. It is hoped that in response to the kind gesture of the state government, transporters will remain law-abiding and shun all forms of violence throughout the period of the elections,” he said.

A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State has remanded a teenager for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl during the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state, IGBERETV reports.

Magistrate Mrs B. O. Osusanmi remanded the defendant Tosin Oloyede on Wednesday, March 8, at the Special Correctional Centre for Boys in Oregun pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Akeem Raji, told the court that the incident happened on February 25, 2023. Raji explained that the 16-year-old suspect allegedly defiled his neighbour’s daughter around 2 pm in the Ikorodu area of the state.

According to the prosecutor, the offence committed contravened Section 27 and is punishable under Section 210 ( 8 ) of the Child Right Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant’s plea was not taken as he was brought to the court on a remand application. When the matter was called in court on Wednesday, the victim began to cry immediately after she saw the suspect who raped her.

The investigation police officer, Inspector Esther Igbineweka, told Magistrate Osusanmi that the suspect made a confessional statement at the Igbogbo Police Station when the parents reported the matter and he also made a confessional statement at the police command in Ikeja.

Igbineweka said, “The defendant confessed to us that he had carnal knowledge with the victim.”

However, in court, suspect only admitted that he touched the girl.

The father of the victim said;

“We went to cast our vote on election day and when we returned, my son said he was playing football outside when the boy raped his sister.

“While he was playing the ball outside, he said he discovered that he didn’t see his sister and went in search of her. He told us that he caught the boy who is my neighbour’s son when he got inside the house.

“My son also told us that the parents of the boy begged him not to tell us when we returned but my son said how will he not tell us about such a thing that happened to his sister.”

The magistrate adjourned the case till April 12, 2023, for the DPP’s legal advice.

Director General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Akin Osuntokun has claimed that the Bimordal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) was “perverted” during the presidential and National Assembly elections, IGBERETV reports.

While being interviewed on Channels Television, Osuntokun said Labour Party is compiling its results of the exercise. He also claimed that the party won some states by wider margins.

He said;

“BVAS has been perverted. Something that is to serve a good course has now been perverted. Because once the BVAS does its role – takes a picture of the results – the polling agents will have it.

“So, the polling agents have all the results and we have our own that is presently being compiled.

“It has been said before – about nine opinion polls – prior to the election said Obi was going to win.

“INEC has another opportunity on Saturday (governorship and state house of assembly elections) to redeem itself.”

Osuntokun also said that the presidential and National Assembly elections should be a source of worry for President Muhammadu Buhari who promised to leave a credible exercise.

He added;

“He wants Nigerians to remember him for the best election ever conducted. But look at the absurdity of what has happened! Is this the legacy he wants to bequeath?”

Kidnapped commissioner for Women Affairs in Cross River, Professor Gertrude Njar has been rescued by the Nigerian army. Troops of 13 Brigade Nigerian Army, Calabar, deployed for Operation Akpakwu, rescued the Commissioner after her 35 days in captivity, IGBERETV reports.

The Army Public Relations Officer, 13 Brigade, Calabar, Capt. Dorcas Aluko, disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday, March 8.

The Commissioner was kidnapped on February 1st in Mayne Avenue area, Calabar South. Following her abduction, the assailants reached out to her family and demanded a ransom of N150 million.

”Acting on actionable intelligence on victim’s whereabout, troops laid a tacit ambush for the kidnappers around Peter Effiong Creek, Messembe, Jebs. The gallant troops tactically sprang an ambush to take the kidnappers by surprise while on search of the victim. In the ensuing melee, the criminals abandoned the victim and fled into the creeks,” Aluko said

The Army spokesperson stated that the troops were on the trail of the fleeing criminals. According to Aluko, the victim is currently receiving medical treatment, after which she will be discharged.

”The Commander 13 Brigade Nigerian Army commends troops for their gallantry and urges them to sustain the tempo against all criminal elements in the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility. Members of the general public are also encouraged to continue providing timely and accurate information on criminal activities within their vicinities,” she said.

Eight mourners have been killed by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen in a fresh attack on Tse-Jor community in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, IGBERETV reports.

The victims were shot dead on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, shortly after burying victims of similar attack on the community.

A source said the mourners were about dispersing when the armed herders stormed the community and opened fire on them.

The attackers who also razed part of the community left several persons with varying degrees of injury.

The source narrated;

“The people in the morning gathered and buried their loved ones who were killed just a day ago by Fulani people. They conducted the burial with the protection of security people. And after the burial the security people left and the people were about to leave the scene of the burial when the armed Fulani herdsmen came and started shooting everyone.

“They gunned down plenty people and injured many. People ran for their lives but most of the victims were people who could not escape. No one saw it coming, no one thought the people will be courageous enough to attack our people during a burial ceremony that also had security persons in attendance.”

Confirming the attack, the Chairman of Gwer West LGA, Mr. Andrew Ayande described the attack and murder of the innocent mourners as heartless and highly condemnable.

“The armed Fulani herders stormed Tse-Jor where the mourning people were burying their dead. And incidentally the people they were burying were also killed a day ago by these same armed herders,” the chairman said.

"Security personnel from the military were there with them as the burial was going on, so everyone was relax. They aided in conducting the burial. After the burial the security people left and the mourners were also about leaving. And suddenly the armed herders appeared and opened fire on them.

"They killed eight of the mourners in that village and injured others. After that they set the village on fire. It is quite unfortunate because these were mourners who went to bury their dead. The attackers came in from neighbouring Nasarawa state to unleash mayhem on our people.

"Luckily the soldiers were alerted and they returned back to the village, but the attackers fled to where they came from. If not for the quick return of the security personnel the casualty figure would have been higher because Tse-Jor is a very big settlement.

"The activities of the marauders is almost becoming a daily affair in our villages and they are obviously on a mission to take over our communities." he added.

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shared a post addressed to Nigerians after last Saturday, February 25, presidential and national assembly elections, IGBERETV reports.

Pastor Adeboye who listed Bible verses to demonstrate how God is greater than worldly leaders, recalled how a Nigerian military ruler felt he owned the country and went about killing people as he pleased. He further disclosed that when this military ruler's cup became full, God removed him permanently.

The RCCG General Overseer also told those in leadership positions not to allow it get to their heads as God is the one in-charge.

There are many great leaders in this world. However, there is Someone called the Most High, the Almighty (Psalm 91:1). He is higher than the highest (Ecclesiastes 5:. Isaiah 66:1 says heaven is His throne and the earth is His footstool. According to Revelation 19:16, He is the King of kings. Put in modern terms, He is the President of all the presidents in the world.
The Most High God rules in the affairs of men (Daniel 4:25). In Daniel 4:34-35, the king of the country considered as the superpower in the world at that time confessed that the dominion of the Most High is forever.

Thus, once in a while, when one earthly leader or the other is beginning to feel big and in control, God teaches the fellow a lesson and shows the whole world that He is still in control. God demonstrated through the Coronavirus pandemic that despite the sophistication of the leaders of the world, they are powerless without Him and so they must surrender to His Lordship.

Proverbs 21:1 says He is the one who controls the heart of kings like rivers of water. When an earthly king is beginning to prove stubborn and refuses to bow to His Lordship, He can deal with the fellow in one of two ways. The first is by shifting something in the king’s brain so that he would begin to act like an animal. After a while, when he has learnt his lesson and really seen who is in charge, God would then restore his sound mind and He may even restore his throne too.

This is what happened to Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4:30-37. The second way that the Most High can deal with such a king is to harden his heart and then destroy him, using him as an example to the whole world that He is still sovereign. This is what happened to Pharaoh in Exodus 15:4-6.

Something similar happened in Nigeria a few years ago when a military head of state was acting as if he owned the country, killing people and doing as he pleased. When his cup became full, God removed him permanently.

If you find yourself in a leadership position, don’t let it get into your head; always remember God is the one truly in charge.

God is still ruling in the affairs of men and His dominion is forever."

Presidential candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Peter Umeadi, has accused the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Victor Oye, and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo of frustrating his ambition, IGBERETV reports.

Addressing journalists, Umeadi said he did not receive any form of support or encouragement from the duo, including funds. He stated that his achievements throughout the electioneering period were by personal efforts.

The APGA presidential candidate further disclosed that while he enjoyed support from local government chairmen of the party, they got disappointed for what he called the unfair treatment meted out to him by Soludo and Oye.

He said;

“As I speak with you, nothing has ever come to me from the party; not one naira has been given to me as the candidate of the party by Soludo and Oye.

“Whatever efforts and breakthroughs I recorded in this presidential election have been through personal and self-efforts.

“I’m not asking for the state money. They are not supporting me either. If they are supporting and campaigning for me, people will help in funding my activities.

“All you see in the national campaign flag is APGA all the way; vote for Senate, House of Representatives, and the President is skipped.

“In other parties and under same circumstances, the party’s National and State Assembly contestants have their billboards and campaign posters with their presidential candidates. But none included me in their billboards and campaign posters because they were instructed not to work for me.

“The party, from day one, particularly the governor, sidelined me. He has not even received me. I went to see him; my name was listed in the manifest; he knew I was coming. The Deputy Chief of Staff even called me the day I went to see the governor that my name was in the manifest. I went and stayed for three hours – 2 p.m to 5 p.m – to see the governor and he refused to see me.

“I was humiliated because the security men and others around saw what happened. His party’s presidential candidate waited for three hours in his office without seeing him!

“They did everything to play down and frustrate me from the race, but I was determined. I marched on, refused to be discouraged and frustrated.

“They don’t want to project me, but they do not have any option. I am the face of APGA in Nigeria, whether they like it or not.”

However, Soludo, through his Chief Press Secretary Osagie Christian Aburime, denied the allegations. The governor’s aide described them as untrue, adding that his principal supported the presidential candidate in all ramification.

Aburime said;

“Don’t forget: the governor got his ticket under APGA. As the leader of the party, the onus lies on him to support the flag bearer, which he has done for Prof. Peter Umeadi.”

The National Collation Agent for the People Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye, has called out the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, who he accused of colluding with the ruling party to rig the 2023 presidential election, IGBERETV reports.

Melaye who spoke to journalists after he and other party agents staged a walkout from the National Collation Center, said Yakubu has been trying to insinuate that they are just there to watch what he and the ruling All Progressives Congress allegedly ""prepared" without having any input.

Melaye also said that the INEC Chairman has refused to direct state returning officers to ensure that the results they are announcing are uploaded. He said this is because the uploaded results will not tally with the one announced.

"Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has no credibility to talk about fraudulent elections, Ex Pres Obasanjo organised some of the most fraudulent elections during his 8 year tenure as President of Nigeria. He laid the foundation for the shambolic elections that has become Nigeria’s lot now!"

A Nigeria man who identified himself as ‘’Prophet'' Godwin Ikuru , has threatened Igbos residing in Lagos state, IGBERETV reports.

In a video shared online, Godwin who is a supporter of APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, asked Igbos that voted Peter Obi of Labour party, to leave Lagos as ''it is not their land.'

In his words;

All the Igbos in Alaba, all the Igbos in Idumota, all the Igbos in Lagos, as you wickedly voted for Obi, just pack your loads and leave Lagos. I'm just sending a message across to the country. If you play games against this movement, then let me tell you, I remain prophet Godwin. If not Asiwaju, there is no president, there will not be a president, Peter Obi will not be, so you better know what you are doing. It's only Asiwaju that can be a president of Nigeria that will transform this country. All the Igbos that voted for Peter Obi in Lagos, pack your loads and leave Lagos, all the pastors who talked against Asiwaju in Lagos, pack your churches and leave Lagos. Lagos is not your land, leave.''

Recall that Peter Obi defeated Tinubu, a former Lagos state governor, in the 2023 presidential election in Lagos state.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says its operatives have arrested one Salman Umar Hudu, identified as an indigene of Kano, over alleged impersonation, IGBERETV reports.

In a statement from its media office on Tuesday,Feb. 14, the EFCC said the suspect was arrested in Abuja for "falsely representing himself" as Abdulrasheed Bawa, the chairperson of the anti-graft agency.

The commission also said the suspect obtained N100,000 from someone he promised to help ?handle? any EFCC matter.

The statement reads: "The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, arrested one Salman Umar Hudu, a 38-year-old indigene of Kano, at a hotel in Abuja, for falsely representing himself as the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, and other officers of the Commission, and obtaining N100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) from a person he convinced that he can ?handle? any matter with the EFCC."

"The suspect has given useful information and will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation."

Former governor of Enugu State and senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District, Chimaroke Nnamani, has sued the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the disciplinary actions taken against him for alleged anti-party activities, IGBERETV reports.

According to report, Nnamani filed the suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja on February 7, 2023, few days before his expulsion from the party.

Nnamani declared support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, which had led to his initial suspension from the PDP.

The former governor of Enugu State said his support for the APC candidate was because he could not support a northerner to become President after the eight-year tenure of the current President, Muhammadu Buhari.

On February 10, 2023 the PDP expelled Nnamani alongside some other key party members for anti-party activities.

As seen in the court documents on Tuesday, those listed as defendants in Nnamani’s suit are the Independent National Electoral Commission, the National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, Samuel Anyanwu on behalf of the National Working Committee members of the PDP.

In the suit, Nnamani asked the court to determine whether it was proper for the party to take disciplinary actions against him without giving him fair hearing.

Meanwhile, despite being punished by his party, the senator has not relented in his support for Tinubu of the rival APC.

In a statement on Tuesday, Nnamani hailed Tinubu for improving the health sector significantly in Lagos State, when he was governor between 1999 and 2007.

He said, “It is to Tinubu’s credit that HIV/AIDS prevalence in Lagos State decreased from 6.7 per cent to 3.5per cent between 1999 and 2007 while more than 2,000 women received prevention of mother to child transmission in 10 PMTCT centres set up to prevent the disease.”

Nnamani said Tinubu’s performance in Lagos made him the best candidate to lead Nigeria at a time like this. Meanwhile, the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday extended the order restraining the PDP from suspending or expelling the Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, who was also sanctioned by the party for anti-party activities.

The court extended the interim order it made on February 2, which restrained the PDP and its leadership from making suspension or expulsion moves on the governor. The respondents in the suit are the PDP; its National Working Committee; its National Executive Council; its Chairman, Iyiocha Ayu; its National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A sexual offence and domestic violence Court in Lagos, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, sentenced a pastor, Nduka Anyanwu, to double life imprisonment for defiling and impregnating two biological sisters in a church complex, IGBERETV reports.

The convict who claims to be a Minister at a Lord's Chosen Church branch in Oshodi, raped the minors over a lengthy period in the name of casting out evil spirits from them.

Justice Abiola Soladoye convicted the Lagos-based pastor of impregnating the 13-year-old and a 17-year-old sisters, both of whom have been delivered of babies.

The judge who held that evidence of prosecution witnesses were believable and consistent, described the convict as morally bankrupt. The judge said that the police ought to have charged the parents of the victims and survivors alongside the convict.

She described the parents as irresponsible, saying that they encouraged the survivors to get defiled by the defendant.

On several occasions, one of the survivors went back to the parents to complain about the conduct of the defendant. She was beaten and sent back to the defendant?s home.

"The prosecution has proved the ingredients of the offences against the morally-bankrupt defendant," she said.

According to Lagos State Government, Anyanwu committed the offences on August 3, 2020, on Arowojobe Street, Oshodi.

According to the prosecution, Anyanwu defiled and impregnated the sisters on the pretext of holding prayer sessions with them. The prosecution team called five witnesses to prove their case against the cleric. The witnesses are the survivors, their parents and a social worker. The convict testified as the sole defence witness.

Sonia Ekweremadu, the 25-year-old daughter of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, lost her bid to be excused from the trial her parents are involved in in the UK, IGBERETV reports.

Sonia's application to not stand trial with her father and mother for their conspiracy to harvest organ charges was thrown out by Justice Johnson at the Old Bailey.

Sonia, 25, was in the dock with her mother, Beatrice. However, Ike Ekweremadu followed the proceedings via video link.

He sat motionless as the judge ruled that Sonia was not unfit to stand a criminal trial lasting seven weeks as her defence barrister, Femi Oni, had argued.

Sonia's attorney and the Crown prosecutor used the testimonies and reports of expert witnesses to back their arguments in the courtroom.

After tabling the application for stay of proceedings on the basis that she's unfit medically and psychologically due to her ongoing thrice a week dialysis, both sides of the bench led their expert witnesses in testimonies via video link, beginning with the Manchester-based professor that Oni had lined up.

After being sworn in, the defence asked him: Did you have opportunity to get consultation with her before writing his report? He replied with a 'yes'. Asked if he has a report on 'what she's suffering from, the professor told the court that, she's developed from a young age, a kidney condition that led to a gradual dysfunction and consequently, her life is dependent on dialysis treatment until she has a kidney transplant.

Led in further testimony, he told the court the treatment has placed psychological, mental and medical burdens on her as it does on other dialysis patients. The professor also relied on the report of a consultant psychiatrist.

Davies, on his part, had Dr. Andrews as his expert witness. Though he admitted having not had any direct consultation with Sonia, but did say if the court schedule of sitting times was moved to afternoons to accommodate her treatment days that she's capable of standing trial. Andrew told the court in his testimony that the residual symptoms of dialysis do not make it impossible to attend trial.

After listening to the barristers and their expert witnesses, including their reports, and acknowledging that the treatment takes its toll on her and that she's even had to withdraw from her Masters degree programme after her diagnosis, the judge said it is not confirmed that her recovery or clinical care could suffer if she were to stand trial.

He then ruled that, accordingly, the application is dismissed.

"It is very inconsiderate and demeaning to SMEAR anyone especially someone you barely knew. I've always had a PEACEFUL, JOYFUL and LOVING family. I worked tirelessly for several years building a beautiful home while managing several businesses successfully.

It is very evident that some persons have been deliberately and desperately trying to TAINT my reputation and "change the narrative" in order to suit their agenda. This is unacceptable to me.

My passionate legal team will be extremely cheerful to dine with anyone who does not cease and desist from character assassination or defamatory publications in the court of law."

A Magistrate Court in Akure, Ondo State has remanded 23-year-old man, Dominic David in police custody for allegedly inserting his finger inside the private part of a five-year-old girl, IGBERETV reports.

According to report, David committed the act on January 24, 2023 at Basic Road, Odode Street, Idanre community.

It was learnt that he lured the little girl into his apartment with biscuits and molested her. The victim that told her mother how David removed her pants and inserted his finger inside her vagina.

When David was arraigned on a one count of indecent sexual assault, Police prosecutor, Matins Olowofeso, told the court that the defendant was arrested last year for the same offence.

"Last year, David did same thing to the victim's elder sister who was ten years old then. He signed an undertaking not to do such again upon his release," Olowofeso said.

Olowofeso said the offence contravened Section 4 (1) and (2) of the VAPPLAW of Ondo State 2021.

The plea of the defendant was not taken. Presiding Magistrate, Folashade Aduroja, ordered the remand of the accused at the police custody. Aduroja adjourned the case to February 9, for mentioning.
