A Twitter user, Alexander of Africa has expressed concern after popular Nigerian crossdresser, Bobrisky checked his Instagram account and liked his photos, IGBERETV reports.

Sharing the screenshot on his Twitter page, he quizzed his followers on what such attention from the crossdresser could mean.

An evangelist met resistance from his audience when he said a man commits sin when he impregnates a woman, IGBERETV reports.

The preacher was at a bus park preaching to travellers when he made the statement.

He was asked to repeat himself and he did, saying: "When a man impregnates his wife, that man has committed sin."

He added: "It's a sin because it is a thing of this world."

Passengers told him that he shouldn't have been born in that case and he replied, "Did I ask anybody to born me? Did I ask anybody to give birth to me?"

A Nigerian woman rejected a car gift from her son on her birthday, IGBERETV has learnt.

The moment was captured in a short video shared by Maria Ude Nwachi via her verified Facebook handle.

As seen in the video, the woman accused the young man of being an internet fraudster and lamented that he intended to use her for rituals by virtue of the car gift. Despite attempts by the young man and his friends to convince her into accepting the gift, she refused and ordered him to take it away while also bursting balloons used in decorating the car.

According to her, he is still a university student with no job and as such shouldn't be able to afford such a whip. "You are just a student. Which work are you doing?" she said to him.

Big Brother Titans housemate, Khosi has said that it is taboo to date a Nigerian man in South Africa, IGBERETV reports.

Khosi, whose love interest in the house is a Nigerian, Yemi disclosed this while speaking to her fellow housemates Jennie O and Ebubu.

According to her, she had issues in her relationship because of the taboo.

”In South Africa, it is like a taboo to date a Nigerian man.

”That was an issue at the start of her over 3-year relationship.”

When asked why, Khosi added that ” some things are better left unsaid.”

Khosi had on Sunday revealed that she was in a four-year relationship with a Nigerian man in South Africa.

The Niger Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it will go after peddlers of illicit drugs to sanitise the state before the general elections in February, IGBERETV reports.

Haruna Kwetishe, the NDLEA Commander in Niger, made this known on Tuesday, January 17 in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Minna.

According to him, the action is necessary for peaceful, free and fair elections in the state.

“Since the general elections are around the corner, we will go after suspected illicit drug abusers, peddlers and barons in Niger.

“This is to ensure that the elections are conducted peacefully which will result in free, fair credible and transparent elections in the state.

“Political thugs use hard drugs to enable them to commit electoral violence, therefore, we will not allow drugs to determine the actions and activities during the general elections in the state,” he said.

He, therefore, warned illicit drug abusers, peddlers and barons, to stay clear of the state as the agency would go tough on them.

“We want to sound a note of warning to all illicit drug users, peddlers and barons in Niger state to desist from the unwholesome practices.

“We want to tell them that we will go after them until we arrest and prosecute them,” the NDLEA leader added.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has sued the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, over an alleged defamatory publication, IGBERETV reports.

Through his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu accused the AGF of defaming him by claiming he jumped bail. He went on to demand N20bn for damages.

Ejimakor, who shared copies of the suit on his Twitter page on Tuesday, January 17, 2022 noted that Malami’s ''defamatory publication'' was injurious to Kanu’s pending cases.

In the suit, Kanu demanded, "a declaration of this Honorable Court that, in view of the said Judgment of Abia State High Court, the Defendant’s published statements or utterances to the effect that Claimant jumped bail, as published in the said Vanguard newspaper publication, are libelous and defamatory;

"An order of this Honourable Court directing the Defendant to retract the said Vanguard newspaper publication through another press statement to the Vanguard newspaper;

"An order of this Honorable Court directing the Defendant to write and deliver to the Claimant, an unreserved letter of apology. A couple, Mba Ifeoma Gloria and Eremezie Tochukwu Martin, whose wedding was slated for January 18, 2023, have been killed by yet-to-be-identified gunmen at Arondizuogu in the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo state.

Residents of the community say the intending couple was taking a ride in the groom's brother's tricycle when they were attacked by the gunmen who killed all three of them on Wednesday, January 11.

Troubled by the incessant killings and kidnappings in their community, members of the community came out en mass on Wednesday to lay curses on the assailants perpetrating the crime. They also claim that the assailants have invaded their community and specialize in stealing flashy cars and killing their owners.

The state police command is yet to comment on this unfortunate incident.

Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, President of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that past governments were more sympathetic to the plight of lecturers, IGBERETV reports.

Speaking at the unveiling of 50 tertiary textbooks published by Nigerian authors under the sponsorship of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in Abuja on Thursday, January 5, Osodeke shared some of their experiences under military governments.

He said;

““Thank you very much for this honourable minister and all of us who are present here today. I want to thank my colleagues for raising the issues and I think it is very important. I will just say a little thing about what is TETFUND and how did it originate?

“In 1992, the union was on strike and negotiating; how we used to do then few years ago with Obafemi and co, and when we finished, the government said how can we fund it and we said challenge us, we will tell you how to fund this agreement. And they challenged ASUU, it didn’t take three days and we came up with this idea of TETFUND, which was accepted by government, then military.

"I have seen that the military are even more sympathetic. Then TETFUND came into place. The decree was signed 1993. ASUU had to go on strike the third time to ensure that TETFUND board is funded and the money was released.”

Speaking on the ‘no work no pay’ policy of the Federal Government against striking lecturers which has resulted in eight months of unpaid salaries, Osodeke appealed to Nigerians to pressurize the government to save tertiary education from collapse.

The ASUU President who called for an increase of education tax from the current 2.5percent to 10 percent to enable TETFund mobilise more funds to totally address challenges confronting the sector, also decried the poor attitude of some big companies and wealthy Nigerians on the payment of education tax. According to Osodeke, there is need to reposition and expand the education tax net to bring about more resources for tertiary education institutions.

"Blessing Usulor, in early June 2022, was rushed to Hopecare Medical Centre, Enugu by her neighbours when she slumped and went into a coma in her quarters within the IMT Campus-4 axis of Enugu.

She stayed in coma for a whole 10-days and her medical case was with some complications including renal failure, which necessitated dialysis treatment, diabetes complications and sepsis which degenerated to septic shock. Her condition was critical. Eventually she developed ulcers in skin lesions due to being bedridden for a long time, among other complications.

According to the Chief Medical Director of Hopecare Hospital, Dr Samuel Ngwu’, “ Our primary consideration was to save this poor young lady’s life. The hospital staff brought it to my attention that there was no monetary deposit for her medical treatment .
“ My answer was that a 22-year-old person will never die in my care because of money.

“So, we continued to treat her; and as God may have it she recovered.
After the treatment, paying the medical bill become a challenge after she was discharged on July 1, 2022.

“Since than she has been here and even more, the husband brought her two-year-old son and later abandoned both her and her son in the hospital till date. We have contacted many NGOs, religious organisations and even the relevant ministries in this regard but to no avail

“While in the hospital all this while, she lives on handouts from other patients and also relatives of other patients she meets in the ward. Earlier, today, a relative of a patient gave her N3,000,” he said.

“This situation was brought to the attention of Mr Peter Obi by Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, who I told about it the day before. She put me on the line to Mr Obi and I narrated all to him.

He first of all commended the hospital for putting life first before monetary consideration and said that ours is a shining example that with love and care, Nigerians have the capacity to rebuild this great country once more.
“We must bear each other’s burden, and create a Nigeria that works for Everybody,’ he told me.

Mr Peter Obi paid the medical bill of approximately one million Naira by a cheque which was handed over to the hospital management by Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu yesterday, 4th January 2023, stating that the exemplary conduct of the hospital by seeing to the survival and total recovery of the patient shows that the change we are all yearning for is indeed possible.

The medical director thanked Obi for the gesture, adding that “we are looking forward for a New Nigeria, where we will be led by leaders with vision like Mr Peter Obi”.

In a tearful mood, Usulor, who hails from Ebonyi State, appreciated Obi for identifying with “a poor and nobody” in the society.
“I am overwhelmed with joy that I don’t know how to thank His Excellency for this kind gesture and remembering someone that have been abandoned.

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested four men for allegedly lynching a woman, Martha Mamman, over claims she was a witch in the Michika area of Adamawa State on December 4, IGBERETV reports.

The suspects identified as James Dogara, 34; Emma Pious, 22; Irmiya Joshua, 22; and Sini James, 22, allegedly teamed up and burnt the victim to death, claiming that she confessed to killing six persons in Mughule village.

In an interview with newsmen, one of the suspects, Dogara James, said that the deceased had confessed to killing 3 people at the residence of the ward head when she was summoned by the royal father. He said that few days later, they stormed her residence and started beating her as a result of which she confessed to causing the death of another 3 people. He went on to add that while beating the deceased, some young men came to the scene with petrol which was used in burning the late Martha.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the suspects are being investigated and would be charged to court as soon as possible.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for introducing the Bimodal Voter Authentication System (BVAS) which he said has eliminated any possibility of electoral fraud in the 2023 elections, IGBERETV reports.

Speaking on Tuesday, December 27, in Akko LGA of Gombe state, Governor Inuwa disclosed that before the introduction of BVAS, some people would sit in a room and write election results.

Anambra: Unknown Gunmen Kidnap Businessman who came home from Zaria to celebrate Christmas at Umuchu

There has been serious tension in Umuchu town in Aguata Local Government area of Anambra State for the past two days following the kidnapping of the Managing Director of People’s Bookshop, Ogbuehi Pius Egwuekwe, by unknown gunmen in front of his palatial home.

ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports that Ogbuehi Egwuekwe was on Friday whisked away by the bandits in front of his house and taken to an unknown place probably in order to demand for ransom.

He was said to have driven down from Zaria in the Northern part of the country with his driver to his village in Ibughubu Umuchu to celebrate this year’s Christmas with his family.

However, everything turned to a sad experience after his driver drove for several hours from the North and on getting home to enter his gate, some armed men accosted the driver at gun point. When the driver stopped, they were said to have opened the vehicle and forcefully took away Egwuekwe to an unknown place.

The matter was reported to the Police, who reportedly moved into action but their actions have not yielded any result yet as the victim has not been rescued and no suspect has been arrested as at the time of filing this report.

The victim, Ogbuehi Egwuekwe, was said to have returned late in the evening due to the long distance journey from Zaria before the sad incident.

The alleged kidnapping has thrown the whole community into panic and serious tension as many feared that people in the community were no longer safe considering how the plot was perfected with ease without drawing the attention of members of the vigilante group put in place.

Some members of the community suspected that it was an insider who may have leaked information of the victim’s return with his driver to the village.

Ogbuehi Pius Egwuekwe is a successful businessman, based in Zaria, Kaduna .

He has also touched the lives of many people in the community by attending to their material and health needs. No wonder since the incident happened, there has been palpable tension in the community with no traces of their whereabouts.
