Hello Costee & Nissparts or any one else for that matter.
Anyone experiencing a similar issue with a stuffy cabin? Or is it just peculiar to my ride? Or is it my imagination/ all in my head? Would surely appreciate your much needed pointers. Thanks in advance.

Sorry guys please ignore the above quoted post as i was able to retrieve the reply to it after i had posted ( still newish to the forum, hence, not too familiar with the search mechanism)
Thanks to Nissparts for pointing me in the direction of the (possibly) blocked cat as the culprit. Am yet to tend to it but avoid driving the car anyway until i can do as advised.

sorry this has nothing to do with tyre pressure, but, since its a nissan/infinity thread i might as well go for it. it has to do with the fact that am getting excessive, needless heat into the cabin of my 04 max SL. it doesnt matter what the weather is like, as soon as the car warms up the engine heat gets transferred into my glove box, the center tunnel and also from under -neath the steering wheel area. i have disconnected the heated seats thinking its part of the problem, but, no cigar, sir! i have always made sure to adjust the heating all the way down and also switched the vent controls to vent air from outside all to no avail. any of you folks experience this discomfiting situation as i avoid using my aircon frequently due to fuel consumption worries.
any pointers in the right direction appreciated.

The bolded part above is why your catalysts are blocked.
Driving with multiple cylinders misfiring will block your catalysts with unburnt fuel.
Go through my thread explaining catalyst issues.
Have a mechanic remove whichever of your catalyst is easier and you will clearly see it clogged or even broken up.

A member here with the same vehicle had the same issue 2 months ago which was fixed at my place.
He may see this thread and chip in as well

thanks a bunch for the info. will see if we can hook up this weekend, say, saturday. i believe you are some where on the mainland (akoka) if memory serves me right.

Your catalytic converters are blocked. Next your engine will overheat, your ignition coils will go bad, and the vehicle will struggle to accelerate.....if you dont get it fixed now.

so, what exactly does the fix entail in terms of parts and cost? are we talking about replacing ignition coils (i have had a misfire (DTC code 0300) for a while now), but, curiously no cat. converter-related codes as at the time of writing. engine idle is slightly erratic and exhaust output is steam-like i.e. water vapour. pardon my ignorance, but, is there any fool-proof way to test the operational efficiency of my cats? sorry to bug you with all these questions, but, its better to be safe than sorry, you will agree. thanks.

I think I need to get myself a digital gauge. I spent ten minutes arguing with a vulcanizer over why my 17" tires should not be inflated to 45psi.

hi on the issue of the vintage m-b ride (the red one) judging from the background i take it that its in nigeria. just curious where, as i can see a for sale sign on the windshield. would actually love to know how to source for old iron like this one, however, the larger population of Nigerians "dont get" the vintage stuff. you will probably get laughed at due to their complete ignorance!!! nice one bro.

Yeah bro . Hit me any questions. i am here to help.
u can also send me your number and i would add you on whatsapp

Thanks for your response and your offer to assist. My e-mail address:- femobash@ gmail.com
As it is am not much into social apps...yet, so cant communicate via whatsapp right now.
I currently drive an '04 Max SL 5 Speed. Just a brief background, my main issue is a knocking, metallic sounding noise from the engine as in when you accelerate from standstill in a higher gear instead of the normal 1st gear if one were driving a manual. But then when i switch from D to Manual mode to check what gear its in, it shows 1st gear. I only used the manual gear-box analogy for clarity. I know its not the famous timing chain tensioner issue as that, i believe, is like a whiny type sound upon acceleration. Looking forward to any pointers.

What you know about VQ .. I know that engine inside out. When nissan first brought it out in 95 nissan maxima, it was to die for. very smooth, economy of 4 cylinder in a v6. check ur facts boy, i am a nissan guy and i have owned 6 differnt nissans at some point and that engine is as reliable as it comes. You think it is easy to win WARDS TOP 10 BEST ENGINE 12 YEARS IN A ROW.

Am aware of the listing of the VQ series on Wards Top Ten Best Engines, too. Its one of the reasons i love my a34 Max. Based on what u said i trust you are knowledgeable about Nissans. If u are interested i need guidance with some issues that i believe once fixed will enable me enjoy the full potential of the car. Via a pm ... perhaps? Thanks.
