President Barack Obama underwent a routine CT scan Saturday afternoon while visiting Walter Reed National Military Medical Center because of a sore throat, according to the White House and his doctor.


The president's doctor said the CT scan was normal and that Obama's symptoms "are consistent with soft tissue inflammation related to acid reflux. "White House press secretary Josh Earnest said the President was not sedated, so no transfer of authority was necessary.

However, Vice President Joe Biden and other senior White House staffers "were kept up to speed," Earnest said. The doctor's visit was not on the White House schedule for Saturday and reporters hustled to join the president's motorcade to Water Reed in Bethesda, Maryland.The president left the hospital 28 minutes after arriving.

Tim Cook, the Apple CEO who came out as gay publicly for the first time in October, has had an Alabama bill to outlaw discrimination based on sexuality in the workplace named after him.

Gay state congresswoman Patricia Todd revealed her intentions to name the legislation – called the Tim Cook Economic Development Act – after the technology entrepreneur following his decision to become the first out CEO in a Top 100 company in history.
Cook initially stayed quiet on Todd’s tribute, which led some to claim he was at odds with the use of his name.
However, he has since declared himself to be “honoured” by the title.
“Todd wanted to name an anti-discrimination bill after him, and we’re sorry if there was any miscommunication about it,” an Apple spokesperson told Reuters.

This week marks the first anniversary of the death of Nelson Mandela with ceremonies that will both mourn and celebrate the first leader of democratic South Africa.

President Jacob Zuma hailed Mandela, who died at age 95 on December 5, 2013, for his policy of reconciliation in the racially divided nation. Like many South Africans, Zuma referred to Mandela by his clan name, Madiba.
“As we remember Madiba this week, let us do so through recommitting ourselves to advancing his vision of unity, reconciliation, global peace, development, prosperity and a better life for all South Africans,” Zuma said in a statement.

Update on the video of young girl who was manhandled by her Nanny in Uganda.

Yesterday a Video surfaced online of a young girl who was brutally manhandled by her Nanny, it was so cruel that it's difficult to watch without shedding tears, especially if you are a working mother.

The baby is said to have suffered broken ribs due to the torment and torture she went through.

According to new update in Uganda, the nanny who was caught on Camara abusing the young girl when her parents were off to work is now confined to a wheel chair and feeding through tubes due to severe beatings she received from the young girl's father. She is reportedly remanded in Luzira prisons and is set to appear in court for second hearing on the 8th of December 2014.


Police sources said the motive behind her actions has not been determined but added that Tumuhire had worked for the couple for just 26 days.

Angela her mother said by telephone yesterday that her baby was taken to the hospital for medical checkup and she is ok.

Sultan Kosey of Turkey, 31, measures 8-foot-3. At the 10th annual Guinness World Records Day, he met Chandra Bahadur Dangi, 74, from Nepal.

The ever growing and hugely popular messaging platform, WhatsApp has added a simple, yet very useful and much requested feature. After sending a private message to a contact, you will know once the message has been read. WhatsApp used to confirm the delivery of the message with grey colored double tick, but now, the blue colored double tick confirms that the message has been opened by the contact.

You can also long-press on the message to find the exact time when the message was read by tapping on the message info button. While most users should be happy with this latest update, some might find it a bit too intrusive. As of now, there’s no option to turn this feature off (like it’s the case with ‘last seen’ status).
Please note that if you don’t see the blue double tick marks, it could be because your message has not been read yet or your contact’s WhatsApp app is outdated or you or the recipient is experiencing connection issues.

US Nurse Nina Pham has been decleared Ebola free. After weeks in isolation recovering from ebola, Dallas nurse Nina Pham thanked every one who cared for her and said she was glad to finally be going home to her dog, Bentley.
Pham walked out of the National Institute of Health s hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, this morning, to a round of applause.
"I feel fortunate and blessed to be standing here today", she told reporters, adding that she hopes to return to her "normal life".
Pham, 26 contracted eBola at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
She was a nurse there, cared for Duncan when he was especially contagious. He died on Oct 8, and she tested positive for the disease on October 11.
it was the first Ebola transmission on US soil.

A physician who recently returned to New York from Ebola-ravaged west Africa has tested positive for the disease, officials announced.
Craig Spencer, 33, a doctor who lives in the Harlem neighbourhood of the city, was taken to a hospital in New York on Thursday after displaying symptoms consistent with those caused by Ebola, including a fever of 103F (39.5C).
A preliminary test on Thursday confirmed that Spencer, who arrived back in New York from Guinea on 17 October, has the virus. Federal officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which has sent a team to New York City to assist city and state officials in the response, will carry out a further test to confirm the result.
They are presently monitoring four people with whom Spencer had contact. His fiancée, Morgan Dixon, and two friends had been quarantined, while the fourth person, a taxi driver, was not considered to be at risk.

Mali has confirmed it's first Ebola case late Thursday, making it the sixth West Africa country to get the disease this year. The BBC has reported that the case involves a 2 year old girl.
The World Health Organization has not yet analyzed and confirmed the case. But it's not especially surprising that the virus has spread to Mali given the country shares a border with Guinea, where the outbreak originated and continues to spread out of control.
