someone should explain nf3, nc3, and 0-0

nf3 represents the knight's movement from its original position to the f3 square, same as nc3.
White has castled kingside (0-0).

Good day good people I'd like to shed some light on the issue of Bible translations. Take a moment to read through.

The bible we have today was translated from two major manuscripts, let's call them A and B.
A is the original manuscript written in Hebrew that was handed down through the ages while B was written in the prevalent Greek language of the day.

The king James version was translated from manuscript B into the common English spoken then in 1611. It has been revised and updated about five times into what we have today.

Most other bible translations utilized the older A manuscript which explains the little difference in content and these versions are mostly not as old as the KJV and scholars used the English of their days which has changed markably from KJV English.

Two methods are employed in translations
Phrase translation
Word for Word

Phrase translation seeks to capture the meaning of the word as obtainable in the language which it is translated to. E.g. In kalabari language, "My generation" translates "I bò bè ye" which tries to capture the meaning of the original word and not just the words used. This method of translation is used for the NIV and most recent versions to make the Bible easily understood.

Word for Word translation is used chiefly in the KJV in an attempt to capture the essence and structure of the manuscript from which it was translated. It tries to preserve the form and lexicon of the B manuscript paying little attention to ease of understanding.

This disparity can be appreciated when the KJV and The Message Version are juxtaposed. Whereas the message version makes for better understanding, the KJV seems to carry the prophetic power.

The difference experienced in content and use of English is due to the manuscripts and method of translation and also it should be noted that the English language has come a long way since 1611 which underlines the need for constant revision and updating.

In conclusion no version is superior to another as they all aim to give us God's words from different angles and as Christians we ought to embrace this and make use of more than one version of scripture in our study of God's word.

I see a lot of Knight fans in the house, but the value of your chess pieces are in relation to the stage of the game you're in. In the middle game after the opening the knights are very important because of their "invisibility cloak " but during the end game their value drops drastically and the bishops will be way more important to any player.

This will help when making exchanges in any game as you will be aware of the value of your piece in relation to the stage of the game e.g. exchanging or losing Knights before the middle won't be a smart move, same as the bishops before the end game.

As potential grandmasters we should learn the habit of using chess notations to describe moves and record our games

Chess notation are being used since 600 A.D. The idea is to record the moves made by both players. You get different types of chess notation but we will only look at the most convenient one - the algebraic system.

Here we use the letters a-h for the files and the numbers 1-8 for the rows. Each square is identified by a letter followed by a number. A chess player records his moves by writing down the moves made with the chess pieces.

The following method/sequence is use to record the moves 1. the piece symbol, 2. the departure square, 3. type of move (-) for a normal move and (x) for a capture, 4. the destination square. This is referred to as the long algebraic notation the short algebraic notation you only use numbers 1 and 4.

In diagram 1 we have the algebraic notation from white’s point of view and in diagram 2 we have the algebraic notation from black's point of view. In the table we have the symbols, names and values of each piece. The pawn symbol is not used in the algebraic notation but the square on which it stands is used. e.g. 1.e2-e4.

The pieces are measured in pawns as the pawn is the smallest unit in the army. See
table 1 for the details on the chess pieces symbols, names and value. The values should assist you to make good decisions when exchanging off pieces.

With chess notation players can play blindfold chess. This is done by putting a blindfold over the eyes of the opponents or one of the opponents. The moves are then announced by the opponents and played on the chessboard by another person.

Because of chess notation, nations can play against its other without understanding each others language and the complete visually impaired person can play against a person with eyesight. It is important to note that white always start the game first at this stage.
