Nairalanded: You got brains! I respect intellectual property and if all of this write up is yours then I'll need to contact you soon to be able to use it. Can I just source it to your Nairaland profile?
NaijaTechGuy: When I started my first blog in 2013, I made a lot of mistakes which helped me become better at what I'm doing. I'll outline the most common mistakes people make when starting a blog.
1. Not Submitting A Sitemap.
This is very common among new bloggers. A Sitemap helps search engines index your site properly. The result of not adding this causes poor SEO. Submitting a sitemap was the very first thing I did when launched my current blog NaijaTechGuy. As a result, it's helped in the SEO of my blog and most of my traffic come from search engines. I get roughly about 25,000 visits per week from Google.
2. Sharing Posts By Themselves
Sharing your posts by yourself is cool but when you start posting constantly it'll definitely weigh you down. Most New Bloggers tend to do this. The best way i recommend is to use services like IFTTT, Hootsuite, Postcron or Dlvr.
With IFTTT my posts are automatically shared to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit and other sites as well. Hootsuite and Postcron can help you post in Facebook groups
3. Searching For New Content
This isn't limited to new bloggers. Constantly searching different sites to get what you'll post will get you tired of posting in a short time as you've wasted important time on searching for content. Always use an rss feed reader to curate content. Once the other sites post, you get the update on your phone or computer. It's that simple.
4. Not Choosing A Niche
Some new bloggers don't know anything about choosing a niche. They'll simply rush into entertainment blogging and blog about every thing they come across. My friend, you're not a newspaper. Get a niche and make yourself a force to reckon with on that niche. Posting about everything simply makes you this - Jack of all trades but master of none.
I drop my pen at this point.
Thanks for this, but please why isn't the edit button on nairaland showing?

MsDelilah: The engine compartment is not designed for a lot of water – you could be getting water into areas where it shouldn’t be and it can cause corrosion. Water could get into the alternator or the engine sensors, causing damage. It can also push dirt onto belts, thereby causing squeaks. If you’re really unfortunate, water could get into your engine through the induction system, from around the air cleaner. It’s unlikely, but you could force water into the cylinders and cause huge damage. Anything that gets wet should be dried, ideally with compressed air, and then by running the engine until everything dries out.
But to answer your question, washing the engine depends on if the engine itself is cold, warm or hot. Using warm or cool water on a hot engine could cool things too fast, stressing the metal and, potentially, causing cracks. So I'd advise you use lukewarm soapy water to wash your engine.
My dad taught me to use either petrol or diesel to wash my engine, though I prefer using diesel.
Nokia is back in the game with this Android powered mid range smart phone dubbed " Nokia 6",. Though the phone isn’t exactly what we all wanted at least it will give us some valuable insights for the future of the HMD-owned brand. You see while the Nokia 6 will retail for under $250 its aluminum body is more fitting of a flagship or at least an upper midrange device, I'm attaching some pictures of the phone I got from a Chinese website weibo. The images show the smartphone from all sides and even give us a glimpse of its about screen. In case you were wondering the Nokia 6 has the TA-1000 model number and its Android security patch level is December 2016. The Android Nougat version is the initial 7.0 as opposed to the latest 7.1.1 available, but differences really are minor there and they really mostly concern the Google Pixel phones.
One of the live shots is of the retail box of the Nokia 6. Judging by its size, you shouldn’t expect to find too many accessories inside, but that’s hardly surprising for a midranger.
NB - The phone is only exclusive to China for now.
Aiholi: Flamboyant relationship consultant and Lagos- based socialite, Joro Olumofin, has penned an interesting piece on 'Runs Girls'... its a must read!
Popular Lagos-based Psychologist and Relationship therapist, Joro Olumofin, has taken to his Instagram page this Monday morning to share an interesting piece about Runs Girls.
Diary of a Runs Girl by Joro Olumofin:
This Journal encompasses 4 key Categories. -Who is a Runs Girl? -How do you identify a RunsGirl -How do RunsGirls affect us -Origin & Location of Runs Girl
1. Who is a Runs Girl?: A runs girl is any lady who is blatantly lazy or not content with her salary, income, allowance because her personal income can't get her to her destination.
She uses her beauty and physical attributes to gain monetary favors, promotion, land, cars, jewelry from any man who is willing to pay.
2. How do you identify a Runs Girl: This may be stereotypical but;
a) Any lady who doesn't have a 9-5 or functional business and yet lives a lavish lifestyle
b) Any lady who is always in a private jet or luxury hotel apartment 7 times a year is a Runs Girl
c) Any lady who owns more than 15 designer bags without an income
d) Any Lady who has more than 15k followers on IG or Twitter without any media portfolio or Makeup / Model business
e) Any lady who is "Yellow skinned" and constantly moves with 5 or more other "yellow skinned" ladies is a Runs Girl (Yellow Gang)
f) Any lady who has 9-5 job but the mathematics of her salary and her lifestyle don't add up
g) Any lady who owns a shop and yet has less than 3 customers and is paying rent is a runs girl
h) Any girl who goes to polo club Lagos by herself without being invited is a Potential Runs Girl
i) 60% of Bank marketers
3. How do Runs Girls affect us?:
Runs Girls spoil the name of Nigerian ladies. They ruin the term courtship or love. Men are used to throwing material things and getting their way within 2 days.
So when men meet a decent girl who is giving them rules or a process they cut these decent girls off.
That's why Runs girls get married more than decent girls because they are easy, understanding to the needs of men and are willing to take anything.
Decent girls are too rigid and boring.
4. Location & Origin of Runs Girls: (They're Everywhere) but most likely below middle class, 3rd class or pass degree students).
The Origin of Runs Girls, based on research and observation. They emanate from bad economy, laziness, greed, separated families, hard times, Social media pressure, low self esteem, designer bags syndrome.
