PhonesRe: About Leaving Your Smartphone To Charge Over-night by obidevine(m): 9:11am On Jul 25, 2015
McCarlito:
This has been an issue that started since the invention of mobile phones. Our daily usage of this small pocket computers makes it almost impossible for it to save power at the end of each day. Often times, many of us connect our phones to the charger at night and fall asleep, content in the knowledge that we will wake up to a fully charged device.

Now that raise the question of – Is It Safe Leaving Your Smartphone To Charge OverNight ? Is it destroying your smartphone’s battery or reducing its lifespan?

Is It Safe Leaving Your Smartphone To Charge Over-night

We have heard loads of myths and debatable ideas on this issue. You will discover that the Internet is filled with opinions masking as facts. What is the truth? This post will reveal some and probably change your opinion.

Shane Broesky, co-founder of Farbe Technik – a company that makes charging accessories says

Leaving your phone plugged in overnight is okay to do, it will not drastically harm your device, your phone is very smart, once it is fully charged it knows when to stop the current from coming in to protect your phone from overcharging.”

But wait, it appears there might be times when leaving your smartphone charging overnight can considerably reduce the lifespan of your battery.

Lithium-ion batteries can react poorly if your phone experiences elevated temperatures, leading to a damaging effect, If you have a case on your device that does not allow for heat to escape, this heat will increase the temperature of the battery and will cause cell oxidation, which will shrink the capacity and shorten the lifespan.“ explained Shane.

If your smartphone uses a case, be sure to take it off at night in the event you’re going to leave the phone plugged in and charging.

How Best to Charge Your Smartphone
Shane Continues…..

The sweet spot for Lithium-ion batteries is to keep them charged between 50 and 80 percent. This allows for the charged ions to continue to work and protect the life of your battery. Charging your device in short spurts throughout the day will give these ions just enough energy to keep them going.” he said.

In simple English, frequent charging instead of one daily charge up is safer for your battery. It might not be convenient, but that is the optimal way to charge your smartphone if you want to ensure the longest life possible.

Don’t Do

The major threat to your battery is charge cycles, a charge cycle is where your battery goes from empty or near-empty to full and every phone battery has a limited number of charge cycles before the end of its life.” Shane explains.

Although you might be lucky with a high number of charge cycles before that limit is reached, but eventually your smartphone battery will noticeably degrade and when it does, you will discover that it only lasts a very short amount of time, or it will simply not turn on at all.

Shane suggests

Try to avoid going from 0 to 100 percent whenever possible, this will start to break down your battery and give your device a shorter lifespan.”

Quality Accessories the Best

One very important factor to put into consideration when charging your smartphone is the quality of the accessories you use. The best way to go is to use the charger and cable that was shipped with your smartphone. Don’t have that ? You should buy another official charger and cable.

Most times original chargers and cables are quite expensive, but you can still find very good alternatives. I will personally recommend Konga – Online store in Nigeria. It is also very essential to ensure that the charger and cable you buy has the correct rating. Cross-check the amp or watt rating with your phone’s specifications.

And Finally……

You now know that leaving your phone plugged into the charger overnight carry little risk, on the condition that you are using genuine charger and cable. And as long as you don’t let your phone overheat.

Now for a quick recap for best results with your smartphone charging, here’s what to remember:

Always use original chargers and cables, or certified alternatives from reputable brands and retailers.

Do not let your phone get too hot, be sure to remove the case when charging overnight.
To get the longest battery life possible, try to keep your battery between 50 and 80 percent.
Avoid letting your smartphone battery completely discharge, and don’t charge it from 0 percent up to 100 percent too often.

PhonesRe: Top 10 Hottest Chinese Smartphone Brands by obidevine(m): 1:26pm On Jul 21, 2015
Bratking:
Over the years, the so called Chinko smartphones have gained quite some grounds on the Korean and American Giants. Without further ado, let's look at 10 of the strongest contenders across China that have the potential to give the established heavyweights quite a few worries in the foreseeable future. To quote a Bob Marley song: If you are a big tree, we are a small axe sharp and ready, ready to cut you down.

10. UMI
https://www.umi-zero.com/images/umi%20zero_umizero-1.jpg
UMI has come with their latest flagship in the end of 2014. It was the UMI zero which is a high end, metal made smartphone with good specifications. They made sure everything about this smartphone was right, and they did deliver a great product. If they continue this line of quality and looks we’re quite sure that this company will get very popular in 2015. But it’s not that time yet and the company has to work hard to establish its place in the fierce Chinese smartphone market.

9. ZTE
https://bestmobs.com/html/uploads/ZTE-V5-Red-Bull-launched-in-China-for-1302.jpg
ZTE has been making quality phones for quite some time now but it always seems as if the company just isn’t making the most out of it. We’ve seen their phones come and go but they never seem to create a hype as for example Xiaomi does or Huawei with their Honor line. ZTE is a brand that will probably stay around for years from now.

8. Lenovo

Lenovo is well known all around the globe and they seem to make good quality product, whichever branch you put them. But the smartphone industry is a tough industry and if you want to make it in this industry you have to come with a little bit more that ‘just good’. Although their handsets got good reviews and people do like the brand, it doesn’t look as if the company can really secure a tight place in the smartphone market. They are one of the biggest brands in the world when it comes to producing smartphones, but if it comes to popularity they still have
some catching up to do.

7. Elephone
https://en1.data.coolicool.com/images/MHAFEP7000/MHAFEP7000修改图/A1_1.images.400x400.jpg
Elephone isn’t one of the biggest brands at all, and they don’t make the best products either. They aim on cheap phones with good specifications Until now it seems anyway, because their latest models look stunning. Next to that, they have great specifications and the company seems to create quite some media attention over the past few months.

6. Zopo
https://www.zopomobileshop.com/520-large_default/zopo-c3-smartphone-mtk6589t-15ghz-5-inch-fhd-screen-android-42-16g-pink.jpg
Zopo makes great phones. They come with high specifications and good build quality. Many of you might say that this brand deserves a higher position, but I beg the difference. The company has been struggling in keeping its head above the crowd and they don’t seem to be able to create big media hypes like brands as Xiaomi or Meizu. For that reason this company doesn’t get a high position in this ranking. If you are a good brand, you should also know how to play your cards.

5. OnePlus
https://media.engadget.com/img/products/508/awcd/awcd-300.jpg
We can’t think of a brand that had a smarter way of marketing itself. The ‘invite’ system. It worked for them and it worked well. They made sure that you could only get an OnePlus with an invite, and that made people want the phone. People always want stuff that they cannot get. The brand got very popular around the globe with their OnePlus One ‘flagship killer’ and we expect to see a whole lot more from them.

4. Oppo

Oppo has found itself setting two records this year (but losing one very soon). Those were the first motorized rotating camera and the world thinnest phone measuring just 4.85mm. On top of that the company seems to be able to produce good phones which are widely popular under the public. The Find 7 was one of the best phones of 2014 and after that they weren’t even finished. At the end of the 2014 they brought us the Oppo R5 and the Oppo N3, both widely popular. This brand deserves a #4 position.

3. Meizu
https://www2.res.meizu.com/en/images/m1note/specifications/appearance1.jpg
Meizu knew how to play the media and they did it well. ‘Leak’ after leak came out about the Meizu MX4 first, and later about the Meizu MX4 Pro. It stirred up the media and everybody loved it. They released the Meizu MX4 Pro with a bang and the first stories about the phone were great. Everybody seems to love it and the company went back to its roots. Music. The fact that this company decided that they couldn’t leave their roots behind gave them just that little bit of extra respect. People love the phone, and they seem to love Meizu too.

2. Huawei
https://dash.coolsmartphone.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/huawei-ascend-p6-evleaks-1369336069-150x150.jpg
Even though Huawei is one of the biggest manufacturers of smartphones in China they had to give their number one position away to a fairly young brand. The brand is popular all around the globe and it seems that the end is not near at all. Huawei still has some tricks up its sleeve but we can’t help but notice that the company isn’t focusing on its smartphones but more on its other businesses. Is the company giving up smartphones a bit because of the fierce competition in that market? Is it getting too hard for a company like this to earn money in this market? We’ll just have to see what 2015 brings.

1. Xiaomi

There could only be one on this position and Xiaomi deserved it. The young company is getting more popular by the day and they have huge production problems. Normally, that wouldn’t be a good thing, but the production problems we’re talking about is that the company just can’t handle the demand. That’s a shame for a lot of willing buyers but for the company that means that they can keep expanding for quite a while. One thing is for certain, this company will have a very good year in 2015.

Credit goes to Chinese Smartphones

Side Note: I sincerely hope this article will assist some people to make the right choices when it comes to picking a chinese brand. There's more to a phone than it's affordable price.

Cc. Lalasticlala
. Xiaomi mi4 is one of the best phones in the world not just china alone... They had a marketing strategy called "flash sales" on an indian site called flipkart and it was a huge success. I'm really looking forward to xiaomi phones being marketed in Nigeria, I'd be the first to buy !!!!
