Saying Nigeria’s revenue is low no mean say the only solution na to just increase taxes anyhow. That one no be serious thinking.

Government fit improve revenue by blocking leakages, widening the tax net, growing the economy, making more businesses enter the formal space, not by squeezing the same struggling people again.
This no be about loving or hating Tinubu. Na simple fiscal sense. Make we reason am well, no be everything be insult.

So even if our debt to GDP is lower, repayment can still be stressful because income is weak. It’s not about absolute debt. It’s not about politics. It’s about whether a country can comfortably pay what it owes.

Yes, countries like Senegal, South Africa, Egypt, Kenya, Zambia and Rwanda have higher debt compared to the size of their economies than Nigeria that’s why they appear on the list.

But here’s the important part:
Nigeria still spends a huge chunk of its income just to pay back loans, often more than some of those listed countries do. That means less money for roads, hospitals, education and jobs even if we aren’t top 10.

Some countries on the list have stronger government revenue or better growth, so they can handle higher debt better than Nigeria. Simply having a higher percentage doesn’t automatically make a country worse off.
Other listed countries like Egypt and South Africa have bigger formal economies and foreign investments, which helps them manage large debts more sustainably.

So not being on this list is not automatically good news ooooo, it just shows the type of debt measure used. The more important issue for us is whether Nigeria is earning enough and using what it borrows wisely.

We shouldn’t celebrate a statistic without real context.

Nigeria not being on this list might make some people happy and they know themselves, but it doesn’t automatically mean we are doing great.

Debt to GDP simply compares what a country owes to the size of its economy. Even if we’re not among the top 10, what really matters is: Can we comfortably pay our debts without struggling?

If a country earns little but borrows a lot, repayment becomes stressful even if it’s not on a “most indebted” list.
So instead of celebrating or arguing politics, the real question should be:
Are we growing the economy? Are we earning enough revenue? Is the borrowed money improving people’s lives?

That’s what truly matters.
