Washington Post Columnist, Jennifer Rubin's, warns of need to 'burn down the Republican Party' to wipe out Trump supporters

Washington Post opinion writer Jennifer Rubin pushed for Americans to work together to "burn down the Republican party" in the hopes of extinguishing any trace of the enthusiasm for President Trump. Rubin appeared on MSNBC's "AM Joy" Sunday and said that not only does Trump have to lose in 2020, but there must be a purging of "survivors" who still support the commander-in-chief.

"It's not only that Trump has to lose, but that all his enablers have to lose," she said. "We have to collectively, in essence, burn down the Republican Party."
"We have to level them because if there are survivors -- if there are people who weather this storm, they will do it again."
"They will take [an election win] as confirmation that, 'Hey, it just pays to ride the waves. Look at me, I made it through,'" she said.
"Up and down the ticket, federal, state and local offices, the country has to repudiate this... This has become a dysfunctional anti-government party," she said

Donald Trump has wrapped up a contentious weekend of meetings at the G7 in France, where he made headlines on issues ranging from his trade war with China, to climate change, to his long standing interest in re-admitting Russia to the international group.
The US president concluded his latest international appearance — which he described as “successful” and full of “tremendous unity” — with a lengthy press conference, where he attacked Barack Obama, heaped praise on Boris Johnson, and spoke in favour of returning Vladimir Putin to the G7.

At one point, he even claimed himself to be an environmentalist because, as a private businessman, he had been forced to comply with environmental regulations — regulations he has, as president, largely pushed to eliminate.

BIARRITZ, France (AP) — U.S. President Donald Trump skipped a discussion on climate with other world leaders at the Group of Seven summit in France — then claimed to “know more about the environment than anyone.”

Trump left an empty chair as global power brokers debated Monday how to help the fire-stricken Amazon and reduce carbon emissions.

“I’m an environmentalist,” Trump told reporters, even as he celebrated America’s oil and gas wealth.

Environmental activists declared the summit a failure, marching to demand tougher global emissions rules and more aid for the Amazon.

Trump was scheduled to attend Monday’s session on climate, biodiversity and oceans at the G-7 summit in Biarritz, but didn’t. French President Emmanuel Macron, the summit host, shrugged off the absence, noting that Trump’s aides were there instead.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday hit out at conservatives who dared to disagree with him about a video showing CNN anchor Chris Cuomo squaring up to a man who called him “Fredo.”

High-profile figures on the right, including Fox News host Sean Hannity and Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, defended Cuomo after a clip in which he told the man he’d “fucking ruin your shit” went viral.

Trump appeared not to appreciate their takes, however.

“It always happens!” he tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

“When a Conservative does even a fraction of what Chris Cuomo did with his lunatic ranting, raving, & cursing, they get destroyed by the Fake News,” Trump wrote. “But when a Liberal Democrat like Chris Cuomo does it, Republicans immediately come to his defense.”

The biggest beneficiaries of a Trump win in 2020, could be the likes of AOC or Tulsi Gabbard to run in 2024.
On Election Day 2024, AOC will be 35, and would have had 5 years of experience as a Congresswoman.

Also, if Tulsi Gabbard finishes in the top 3 or 4 of the Democratic nominating contest for 2020, she stands a good chance of clinching the party’s nomination in 2024. Her political moderation would be a key selling point in that race.
