One Death Too Many: Barr William Usman Media Team Condemns the Murder of Aliu Dickson

The Barrister William Usman Media Team has strongly condemned the gruesome murder of Aliu Dickson, which reportedly occurred in the early hours of May 16, 2026.

In a statement signed by Kadiri E. Godson on behalf of the media team, the incident was described as a tragic and painful loss not only to the family of Late Pa P.M Aliu but also to the entire Okpella community.

The statement emphasized that the recurring violence and loss of lives within the community should serve as a wake-up call for sober reflection among residents, particularly the youth. According to the release, no cultural celebration or communal activity should ever lead to bloodshed or the taking of human life.

“The continuous descent into violence, intimidation, and gun running is unacceptable and has no place in a civilized society,” the statement noted.

The media team further stressed the importance of the rule of law, urging young people in Okpella to reject coercion, threats, and all forms of criminality capable of disrupting the peace and progress of the community.

Quoting a famous English philosopher, the statement observed that without law and order, society risks becoming chaotic and unsafe for everyone.

The statement also warned that those responsible for the killing would eventually face justice, adding that there is no hiding place for perpetrators of violence.

While extending condolences to the family of Late Pa P.M Aliu, the Barrister William Usman Media Team called on security agencies, the Okpella traditional institution, well-meaning indigenes, and the Edo State Government to urgently investigate the incident and bring the culprits to justice.

The statement concluded with prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased.
