MEDITATION OF THE DAY
The Lord Almighty gives strength to the wearied

The words of Isaiah urge us to look at God's creation and to see there his majestic strength, power, and might.
The all powerful God who created everything we see, also created us out of his infinite love; he cares intimately for each one of us.  Oftentimes we try to reduce God and his infinite might to the limits of our own small understanding.  We lock up his power at the level of our ideas and problems.  We become so absorbed in our difficulities-the burdens we carry each day, problems in marriage or with the children, trying to make ends meet, anxieties at work, fears for hte future-that we think God cannot help us.  We become so closed to ourselves that we end up believing that there is no hope.  We complain inwardly that God does not care about us, or does not know our burdens and anxieties.

Let us take the opportunity this Advent to make a sacramental confession and admit our unbelief so that the Lord can heal us.

PRAYER
Lord, i have sinned by belittling your power and failing to look to your strength for help.  Forgive my despair and unbelief.  Grant me your gifts of faith and hope so that i may receive the fullness of your healing and know you are always with me.  Do this for your glory, Lord. Amen"

Just last week a charismatic parishioner from St. Mary's Isolo visited us and he gave us talk on our just concluded 3 days crusade.  I can't just wait to see him again, the last time i saw him was early this year when our group visited Ifo.

I attend St.Charles Olodi Apapa Parish.  The church was filled both inside and outside, i bet today's attendance will be more because those who came yesterday will inform others what happened and this will attract more people, so as early as before 6pm i'm in d church.

yesterday in church, our Father said something that really touched me . . . .


He was asking why Christmas that is supposed to be celebrated in holiness and reconciliation be a period for all sorts of evil
some of us do unthinkable things to acquire fortune,
we list new caras, cloths, house renovation as necessities for good xmas
no provision is made for that special person that we are expecting.
sexual immorality is always at it's peak . . . . . .
Cost of living will shoot up, traders aim to make incredible profits
people aim to exploit ours in the name of xmas. . . . . . .
some families actually quarrell at this period. . . . . . . . .

this actually got me thinkn
it is absolutely spot on. . . . .

during lent, some of us take out time to reflect and do retreat but xmas is always treated differently

the sermon meant a lot to me and i thought i will share it with us all
after the sermon, there was a sort of calmness in the church, i was sure individually, we were all touched.

i can't repeat word for word what the Father said but, i hope whoever reads this will feel that calmness we all felt yesterday

may it bear friut in us all.

Viee, i'm fine. Since Seun got some of us going on break, so i just perm one side.
Wetin dey happen.

Infact we are having a great Retreat that just started yesterday, and the presiding priest gave a very powerful talk, that got so many people shedding tears. The talk was also about repentance, and also the meaning of Christmas. He talked and talked and everywhere around the Church was as calm as a grave yard.

Sister by the Grace of God, i will not miss attending all the whole days of the Retreat. Rev. Father Osigwe will be coming also (hope you know him). So you are all invited to my Parish where it is happening.

I have been finding it difficult getting to the website to get the saint of the day. Thanks Viee for coming to the rescue.
