Don’t let anybody lie you!

If you have saving and assets, sell it off and leave the country. Nigeria is heading nowhere.

I have a friend who sold all he has in Nigeria, and moved to the UK. He is currently changing diapers for adults and doing fine. Another one resigned from a bank in Nigeria and used all his assets and savings to Japa to US, hommie is currently lifting boxes at Amazon during the day and doing uber at night, and he is doing fine. You need to see their pictures on Facebook to confirm the big life they can afford.

You just need to be determined, in a space of 6 months , you should be able to recover all you sold in Nigeria.
You are absolutely correct...

Dude I will tell you from experience. US is the land of opportunities, just that most people wey Japa are not smart enough to grab these opportunities.
It took me just in my second year in the US to start making over $100k a year, grateful to God. gunning for $150k - $200k in my 3rd year.
I do HVAC... Heating, Ventilation and AC.
Insane career, right? Because it involves sales, so you double as a technician and a sales person.
Not here to brag, but I tell anybody who cares to know that you can make insane amount of money from this career, instead of those stressful jobs. It's commissioned, not hourly pay, you work less, I work like 26 hours a week, 4 days.
It's easy to learn, just be so smart and know how to talk 👄.
It's high in demand skill.
Opportunities are endless. Under 5 years, you achieve what most Nigerians can't achieve in their lifetime, together with living good life, wey be say na only billionaires can afford in Nigeria.

Credit system need honesty grin

Every credit is determined using a credit score globally not "honesty".

E.g The U.S Govt utilizes the credit score to determine creditworthiness of the person.

The Nigerian BVN also has credit scores which you can easily get a report on through the credit Bureau, request and get your credit report in minutes.

As long as BVN has an accompanying Credit score report alongside it, the credit system already has a big foundation.

Why are you making blind arguement?

So what builds credit score?
Answer me? Please

How is credit score built?
PoliticsRe: Nigeria To Expand Credit Access To Citizens by OChimex: 11:49pm On Jan 03, 2025

This submission is funny. You don't need honesty to run a credit system, but data. No lender will lend you significant credit without obtaining more than enough information that satisfies their risk assessment before doling out money. You think it's charity? As for the infrastructure deficit, insecurity, etc., it's already priced into the cost of borrowing, which is why it's cheaper to borrow in developed countries compared to ours.
Dude, honestly you are ignorant. Credit system is built on honesty. You as a visitor to the US today can't get a loan or credit card why?
They have to see your records that you are actually being honest, paying your bills and loans. Just like you said, that enough information that satisfies them simply is- have you been honest in paying in the past?
And if you default, they your credit score goes down, showing you are not to be trusted again.
I do sales, and sometimes, some of my clients fail financing, due to not paying their loans.
So, have you seen it now, it's all about being honest in paying your loans and bills, that's what credit score is based on.
I was once a business guy before I moved oversea.
I once supplied goods worth millions to customers in Maidugri and north east before the advent of Bokoharam, on credit. Insecurity displaced all these my customers and I lost huge money.
Did you know how many people that closed their business due to high cost of running them?
Or the naira depreciation? Where before Tinibu you could get 40 ft container, then now. You no fit get 20ft na groupage way. Lol
Imagine if you are an importer, took loan only to come back in a year that 10,million taken is now worth 1 million due to naira depreciation, how do you pay back?
PoliticsRe: Nigeria To Expand Credit Access To Citizens by OChimex: 11:02pm On Jan 03, 2025
Noblemanonpoint:
Why are Nigerians so pessimistic and ignorant?

A credit score system will help reduce poverty by a long way. In fact, its one of the main benefits if living abroad as long as you have a source of income.

Mortgages, car loans, etc. and you can spread the payment for years.
Imagine instead of paying excessive Lagos rent yearly, you actually get a house and pay it as mortgage for 30 years but it's becomes yours especially for people who cant save enough to buy a house. It's a brilliant move.

Everyone who has a bank account has BVN and your financial history is tracked with that.
Una problems be say, una go just open mouth waaa without actually thinking.
I live abroad, and i can tell you they have credit systems because they have enabling environment which nigeria doesn't have.
Most Nigerians are criminal by default, 90 percent will default.
There must honesty before credit system work, which Nigerians don't have. I talk from experience being a trader before.
Nigeria has no database, nobody can be traced. How do you recover the money?
Overseas where they have credit system, for individuals and businesses, they don't have the infrastructure deficeit, insecurity, and lack of power.
When will most of you guys become logical beings?
I have a BSc in Economics, before you implement any policy, it has to be peculiar to the environment, not because others are doing it.
And my point is, get the enabling environment in place first before introducing credit system, if not it will fail woefully.
I tell people, problems we have in Nigeria is common sense

CelebritiesRe: Celebrities: Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Feel This Way? by OChimex: 6:06pm On Jan 03, 2025
Sermwell:
I see both online and offline how people freak out at the sight of a celebrity. Some even go as far as rushing or grabbing them.

I have never been to any show, let alone wanting to go up stage to grab a celebrity. I saw how a young man was kicked by Burna Boy and I felt really disgusted because such nonsense can never happen to me.

Early last year, I was on the 6th floor at BUA Group headquarters in Victoria Island where I saw Tekno and Davido sitting down at the reception having a chat, I just greeted them and sat down. I also saw how every other person on that floor was minding their business and don't really give a damn about their presence.

When I told a cousin how I feel weird on how people go crazy at the sight of these celebrities, he said it's not normal but I strongly disagree with him. I even told him how some staff at BUA Group didn't give a damn about Davido"s presence, he insisted that they are not also normal.

Do you guys here share my views, or do you think it's not normal?
This answers your question dude. Mind you, it's an indebth study.

Okay oo, if you say so. I no go argue your experience.
I have worked for big companies and working for a big company now. I talk from experience, having been rejected because they see my nigeria Bsc as a joke from a joke country...

Amalekki:
You are mixing things up and creating a debate that does not exist. You are obviously confused with most of the things you mentioned.

- Professional licenses and certifications are typically governed by state licensing boards and professional associations. These are totally different from university degrees/certificates. You can't practice in America even with American degrees unless you have those licenses in those specific fields. This has nothing to do with Nigerian certificate being rejected or unrecognized.
- For your HVAC, you only need High School Diploma or GED for your licensing journey. We are discussing UNIVERSITY GRADUATES here.
- I never said HR is a skilled job, that's a misunderstanding on your part. I only mentioned HR process. HR department handles employee hiring, job issues, promotion, termination etc in organizations. You don't sound like someone that has worked in corporate environment in America, I guess you are mainly self-employed. HR shouldn't be confusing if you work corporate in America. I only wrote "In the USA, there are no specific laws that dictate how HR teams must verify college certificates." That shouldn't be confusing.
- Yes, you can't practice as a Nurse, Doctor, Engineer with Nigerian degree. You have to go through the licensing part but your Nigerian degree gets you qualified for the licensing process. Mind you, even with American degree, you can't practice in those fields. They just qualify you for the licensing process.

Again, don't be in a hurry to respond. Try to read and understand then learn more so you don't sound ignorant. This is knowledge sharing about what exists, and it's clear you don't know about some things here and this should be an opportunity to learn more. If you are discussing HVAC here, I will keep quiet since I don't know much about it. However, you can't tell me what I know 100% is not true simply because you know nothing about it. You can't wake up and say there is no place called Salvador in Brazil simply because you are not aware of its existence. That is exactly what you are doing here.

Amalekki:
I live in Frisco, Texas.

Why would you limit the conversation to "strictly certificate based", is that a smart cop out? Job market is not restricted to Apple, Tesla, Meta, Google, Microsoft, AWS etc lol. Most of the jobs requiring a college degree would read "Education requirement: Bachelor's" or "Education requirement: Master's" with additional specifics like "degree must be in computer science, engineering or related". I know this from personal experience and I know the HR process during and after offer of employment.

It is surprising that this is new to you for someone living in Colorado. At least 15 of my close circle of friends/family do not have a single additional degree apart from what they got in Nigeria, and yes many others do including myself via company funding. Most of them do have professional certifications but almost all are on jobs with clear requirement for bachelor's or master's level education.

In the USA, there are no specific laws that dictate how HR teams must verify college certificates. They are generally based on individual company policies and industry practices with credentials verification. Job market could be very tough in the USA but easier in some states, you not getting a job may have absolutely nothing to do with your Nigerian certificate. You are not the only applicant.
I do HVAC, and I had to obtain EPA license part I, II, III, to be able to handle refrigerant.
Most American professional job require American licence, which your nigerian license won't get you the job,
Again, HR is not a skilled job that require license or degree. Anybody can be a HR without certificate. Most jobs in the US don't need certificate, even being a manager. Lol.
But once it's a professional skilled job, your nigerian cert or license wont get you that.
No nigerian nurse or doctor or lawyer or engineer can practice with their nigerian license in America.
Any job that you can do with your nigeria license, doesn't really need a license, just like you can't drive with your nigeria driver license. The company taking your license is just a mere formality based on your experience.

Living in the US. How about you? Hearsay?
Check my profile.
Now tell me where you live in the US, and which company job was that, becasue I know for sure that no US company employs you with your Nigeria certificate if the job is strictly certificate based. Becasue nigeria has no database where anything can be verified. Besides, whatever knowledge you have from nigeria is outdated and archaic. You also need American license to do every professional job. Why do you think most professionals from Nigeria when they move to the States start doing Uber driver and jobs like that?
Although most jobs in the use don't need cert to get it, but if a job is strictly based on certificate no way you get that job with your nigeria certificate for sure.
By the way, I live in Superior, Colorado.
