Megachem MD,Pharm Ubachukwu Shuts down Ichi In Anambra for Mother's Burial( Pics).

The Remains of the Mother of the Managing Director,Megachem Nig Ltd, Pharm. Sam Ubachukwu, Ezinne Regina Mgbo Ubachukwu (Nee Nnoruka) have been laid to rest in her town, Ichi in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra State.

Ezinne Ubachukwu, who died at the glorious age of 100 was a successful business woman and community leader who held the title of Omenwa Odu of Ichi. She was a devout Christian and played prominent role in the propagation and spread of the Anglican faith around Nnewi South Local Government Area.
Her burial which held on the 6th of January brought together timbers and calibers of great men in Igboland including the presidential candidate of Labour party, His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Uba (Senator representing Anambra South), Senator Chief Victor Umeh , Sir Emma Bishop Okonkwo (Chaiman, Ekulo Group), Chief Tony Okonkwo (Dreams Cosmetics) and Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo (Wichtech CEO). Others are Chief Dr Alexander Chika Okafor (Chairman, Chicason group),Dr Ben Okoye (Onwa Nnewi,Brass Petrochemicals),Maj. Gen. U.T Musa(GOC 82 Div Enugu),Igwe G.N Obiora of Achina,Mr Val Ozigbo, amongst other dignitaries.

Similarly, Pharm. Sam Ubachukwu (Mkpu ogiliga), played host to committee of friends in a “Thank you dinner” to appreciate them for their support during the burial of his late mother, Ezinne Regina Ubachukwu. The “Thank you Dinner” which was held at Ikoyi ,lagos had in attendance Senator Ifeanyi Uba, Sir Emma Bishop Okonkwo , Barr Allen Onyema (CEO Airpeace ) , HRH Igwe Gerald Mbamalu( Igwe Ojoto), Chief Tony Okonkwo and other top Brass.
Addressing the dignitaries at the epic event, Pharm Sam Ubachukwu said he deemed it necessary to thank them his committee of friends in a special way for joining him in celebrating the life of his mother who passed on as a centenarian. Pharm Ubachukwu further appreciated them for honouring the Lagos invitation despite their busy schedules and prayed God to grant more grace and protection upon them.
Speaking briefly at the event, Senator Ubah appreciated God for his grace upon Late Ezinne Regina Mgbo Ubachukwu. He also appreciated Pharm Ubachukwu for reciprocating their support in a special way and maintained that friends are meant to support and stand with each other both in good and bad times. Senator Ubah also prayed God to continually shower his grace and mercies upon the Ubachukwu family and grant the soul of their late mother eternal rest.

Anambra: Aguata Local Government Area holds the first ever 21-km marathon race.

Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State held its maiden edition of the Aguata 21-km marathon race on Wednesday, January 3, 2023.

The 21-km marathon race, which took place in Ekwulobia, the commercial hub of Aguata, was initiated by the Chairman of the Local Government Area, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike.

Speaking on the success of the event, Dr Ofobuike described the marathon race as a dream come true.

The Council Chairman thanked partners, participants, and dignitaries who made the event a success.

Peace Mass Transit Boss, Onyishi honoured with NANS' Highest Medal.
 

On December 23rd, 2022, Dr Samuel Maduka Onyishi, Founder and Chancellor of Maduka University and Maduka University College, was honored by the National Center for Youths Transformation and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) for his contributions to the education sector in Nigeria.
 
During the National Center for Youths Transformation and the National Association of Nigerian Students' official visit to Dr. Onyishi at Ekwegbe, Enugu, they presented him with the association's highest medal, the "5 Star Comrade," recognising his dedication to improving the education system in the country through his massive investment in that sector.
 
Dr. Onyishi has significantly impacted and revolutionised the educational sector in Nigeria by establishing the yet-to-be-approved Maduka University and Maduka University College. (the secondary school arm of the university).
 
These institutions with world-class facilities will provide quality education to numerous students, playing a crucial role in developing Nigeria's education sector and, most importantly, the students.
 
At the same time, the institutions provide employment to a massive number of Nigerians (both academic and non-academic staff).

Responding, Chief Onyishi said that the thank-you visit by the youths, together with the awards, was a fulfilment of what God had told him: "to be a helper to humanity."

Onyishi said that the school was God’s way of impacting the lives of Nsukka people and South Easterners and not a profit-making venture.

He also charged the students not to relent in their pursuit of academic qualifications, adding that the higher the qualifications, the better their chances.

ORUMBA SOUTH TRADITIONAL RULERS COUNCIL AND PRESIDENTS-GENERAL CAUTION POLITCIANS AGAINST FALSE ACCUSATION; PRAISE HON. CYPRIAN OKEREKE (OGBUEHITURUAGWA) FOR DEVELOPMENTAL STRIDES.

The Orumba South Traditional Rulers Council led by their Chairman and his deputy, HRH Igwe Clifford Okeke (Ezeudo of Nawfija) and HRM Igwe Bernard Emejuo (Ebubeagu of Eziagu) respectively, paid a scheduled visit to the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South LGA, Hon. Cyprian Okereke (Ogbuehi turuagwa) with four representatives of Orumba South Presidents-General on Wednesday 10th February 2022 to ascertain the veracity of the accusations levelled against the TC Chairman.

Recall that Victor Chigozie Ene of AIF Media claimed he interviewed Mr. Ben Oranusi and the President General of Umunze Mr. John Akanyeonu both of whom informed him that the TC Chairman looted water tank installed in Orumba South Local Government Secretariat worth about fifty million naira and sold off. They further alleged that the TC Chairman looted carterpiller , bulldozer, tipper and other items belonging to Orumba South Local Government and sold to the former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Emeka Sibeudu.
Alarmed by these serious allegations, the chairman of Orumba South Traditional Rulers Council picked four representatives of Orumba South Traditional Rulers and asked the President-General of Umunze Town who also is the Chairman of PGs in Orumba South LGA, to select four representatives from Orumba South PGs for this fact-finding visit.
The team of the Traditional Rulers and Presidents-General were shocked to the marrow, when they discovered that non of the allegations against the TC Chairman was true. The team was even more upset when they found out that the water tank that the TC Chairman was accused of looting and selling, was never in existence in the Secretariat: rather, it was the tank for Umunze water project located at Nwikpa School in Umunze, that was shown in the accusations, just to tarnish the image of the TC Chairman.

The scrap iron tank purportedly installed by Ben Oranusi"s Local Government administration in 1991 without any borehole to function with, was seen by the team, with it's complete four stands.
The team described these allegations as frivolous, mischievous and nothing but campaign of calumny. They therefore warned the citizens of Orumba South to desist from this kind of vicious and radiculous behavior. They stressed that Orumba South Local Government Secretariat does not belong to any one Community, but to the fifteen communities that make up the Local Government.
They passed vote of absolute confidence on the TC Chairman and warned detractors to stay clear of the Local Government, and desist from meddling with the affairs of the Council as it is an arm of the government and answerable to the State Government.
They urged the chairman to keep on with his good works, especially in the area of sinking a borehole which has eluded the Local Government Secretariat since creation.
Among the Traditional Rulers in the team are:
HRH Igwe Clifford Okeke (Ezeudo of Nawfija), Chairman, Orumba South Traditional Rulers Council;
HRH Igwe Bernard Emejuo (Ebubeagu of Eziagu), Deputy Chairman;

HRH Igwe Thomas Ogbonnaya (Eze Ogbambiaka of Owerre-Ezukala)

There is confusion surrounding the death of alleged staff of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka at Trig Point Hotels Nibo.

The 23 years old Chinecherem Nwankwo allegedly drown at the hotel's swimming pool Sunday.

Circumstances surrounding the death of Chinecherem is still suspicious.

An eye witness said he was the only son and child of his surviving parents. He was from Orumba, Anambra state.

Chinecherem fondly called Chyboy by his peers was said to be a great diva and therefore impossible to have drowned at the pool.

They suspected a foul play but efforts to get the hotel management to react to the true reason why he died based on their investigation so far failed.

His cousin Cronel Onyedikachukwu Nkemakonam, a facebook user said:

I still don't know how to join in spreading this kind of news! My cousin Chinecherem Nwankwo passed on at Trig Point Hotel, Nibo swimming pool? How ? An only son? Just like that? At 23? Which kind talk be this � what is happening! Chy boy is pro diver as far as I know! No trace of water! No bruise! Its well. Rest in peace nnaa.

One of the most respected academia from Anambra State and the first female professor of mass communication in Nigeria, Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna will deliver keynote address, titled ARISE ANAMBRA at the maiden edition of Anambra Man of The Year Award



Speaking to journalists in Awka, Prof. Okunna, expressed delight for being found worthy of this role and reiterated how the lecture topic remains relevant considering the call gaining currency now for our people to think home and strive more to create the best environment for the good of all.



The Anambra state former Commissioner extraordinary, Prof Okunna, commended the organisers for the thorough job they did at the screening stage and expressed confidence that the list would be well accepted by the public ,because of the caliber of people that made the list. In all ,10 persons/organizations and brands successfully made the list for the prestigious award and the awardees are expected to be announced on Wednesday during a press briefing.

Since the history of man, advancement in civilization has always been wrought by men who had a higher sense of purpose, who went beyond self to create and chart new courses for the entire human race. For them, life is measured by its donation. It is about sacrifice and service for the upliftment of others.

Anambra State, the pride of the East, boasts of numerous accomplished and exceptional personalities cutting across several fields, ranging from billionaire businessmen to captains of industry, world famous literary and music stars, successful sportsmen and great professionals. In fact, it is said that for every kilometer radius in Nnewi, there is a billionaire. However, there seems to be a disconnect from the sense of community, the ancient and eternal principle of our ancestors embedded in the phrase "onye aghana nwanne ya" (Be your brother's keeper). This is made possible by the monumental rise of individualism, the notion that wealth is measured by consumption and not by impact, that all there is to wealth are kilometer long convoys, private jets, large parties and gigantic mansions. The newest competition, it seems, is "My Mercedes is bigger than yours".

But that was not how our forebears lived in a balanced society, at peace with one another and with nature. That was not how we survived the genocidal civil war and rose up from the ashes of ruin. A story was told of Anthropologist Margaret Mead who was asked by a student on what she considered the first sign of civilization in a culture. The student was itching to hear Mead talk about fish hooks or clay pots. But Mead instead opined that the first sign of civilization in an ancient culture was a femur(thigh bone) that had been broken and then healed. According to the learned Professor, in the animal kingdom, having a broken femur was a death sentence. The animal can neither run from danger nor hunt for food let alone getting to the river for a drink. Obviously, she continued, no animal survives a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal. A broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken time to nurse the wound and tended the person through recovering. Helping someone through difficulty is where civilization starts said Mead. We are at our best when we serve others.

And that is the essence of the search for the Anambra man of the year. It is meant to refocus the societal compass towards the sense of community, to once again turn the perspective of ndi Anambra beyond the here and now and onto something much bigger than ourselves with a keen sense of posterity.

The ideals of a society is defined by the heores they choose. The Anambra man of the year should be a figure who inspires through extraordinary deeds of triumphant beauty. He should have an elevated sense of wealth, seeing it not from the prism of acquisition of toys to flatter the ego of the owner and traumatize his community, making the poor to feel their poverty, but as a vehicle and a tool for communal advancement. The Igbo word for wealth is aku na uba. Aku loses its essence without uba. The uba implies employing the aku for the benefit and advancement of the community. A standalone aku is a narrow, selfish and underdeveloped sense of wealth. It is an aberration in traditional Igbo society.

The Anambra man of the year should have a higher sense of purpose, hitching his cart to values larger than himself. He should be am embodiment of sacrifice and full of compassion. He should be shown to understand the interconnectedness of the human race, for it is in lifting others that we are lifted.

The Anambra man of the year doesn't need to be a Saint. He is human too, with great challenges and frailties. It is having these shortcomings that gives him the human connection necessary to truly inspire us, urging us to become the better versions of ourselves for our fellow ndi Anambra and for the entire human race.

Who will the cap fit as Anambra man of the year 2020? Let the search begin.

The Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation Ohanaeze Ndigbo has stated it is only interested in the 2023 presidency and pursuit of sovereign State by any group in the zone.

The group maintained that it is a right to the Southeast zone, not a privilege to get the presidency in 2023.

Ohaneze spoke Tuesday in Awka, Anambra State through its President in Anambra State, Chief Damian Okeke -Ogene, while briefing reporters after the group’s meeting

He said the leadership of Ohaneze has not mandated anyone or group to pursue actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra but Presidency of Igbo extraction.

He said that some youths within the territory that make up the defunct Biafra Republic were restive and had made case for Biafra’s restoration because of the gross marginalisation of the zone.

According to Okeke –Ogene: “We are pursuing Igbo president because the executive of Ohanaeze led by Nnia Nwodo has the mandate of Ndigbo to negotiate the Igbo position in Nigeria.

“He wasn’t given a mandate for the Sovereign State of Biafra. That’s why we are saying, give us what is due for us and Nigeria’s president of Igbo extraction is what we are looking for.

“The other aspect of IPOB is because our children seem to find out that Nigerians are not ready to give us what we want; we the elders.

“They are now saying that if you’re not going to answer my father, I am going to tell my father that I am going to be myself.
“They are two different things. Let me tell you, it is coming to a point that Igbo presidency is becoming a right; no more privilege because it is only the South East that has never tasted the presidency and we have been voting for everybody.

“So, the younger ones are agitating that Nigerians are not ready to answer us.

“If they are sure that Nigerians are going to answer us, I believe that they will calm down. Nigeria is for all of us.”

He vowed Ndigbo would not relent until 2023 presidency is achieved.
