LET'S DISCUSS PRONOUNS Pronouns? Who doesn't know pronouns, you will say. Read on before you make your conclusions. There are different types of pronouns but certain types can be problematic. The first we shall discuss are the possessive pronouns. There are 7 types of possessive pronouns in English and they are: mine, ours, yours, his, hers, its, theirs In pronunciation, it seems as if there is the addition of apostrophe "s"; hence, in students' essay these pronouns are written as our's, your's, her's, their's, etc., which are all wrong. Let's take the following question: Which is.....? A.yours' B.yours C.your's D.your The answer is option B. It is not uncommon to see students write Your's sincerely. You now know the right thing, so attempt the following questions: 1.Are you sure this is....? A.our B.our's C.ours' D.ours 2. Mine is to command,....is to obey. A.there B.their C.theirs D.theirs' |
Hi, guys. A reminder that class will resume fully tomorrow. Thanks! |
Hello, guys! With mass failure in English language, this thread aims to teach English language to SSCE and UTME candidates by simplifying the topics that the various examining bodies test. I have observed, for instance, that candidates usually have problems identifying grammatical names and functions and most have problems with how English sounds are taught. That will soon become a thing of the past as you consistently attend the online class. It promises to be fun. |
