Nairaland General › NL Needs To Fix It's Search Feature For Once. by Officer4(op): 9:00am On Mar 16 |
The search feature here on NL is a very critical feature for information retrieval. Yet, it is simply based on keyword search rather than a modern information retrieval algorithm.
To search on NL you have to do it on google. The search box here only looks for the occurence of each word separately.
Pls let this be fixed, it has been like this for the over 15 yrs since existence.

Education › Re: Phd Holder Shares Payslip From Time As Covenant University Lecturer by Officer4: 1:02pm On Mar 15 |
During undergraduate holidaysbis when lectirers focus more on postgraduate researxh and pper publications which are ll still partkf the job requirements. SixSeven: I am not going to defend anyone but I know lecturers get some extra benefits. I am wondering why a lecturer will post his payslip, your personal information to prove what point? Back to the extra benefits, one of them will be housing. I don't know what the accommodation was. Some schools have staff quarters which is housing benefit and when people compare salaries, they forget that part. If you have children, they may go to that school free as a staff.
Their academic calendars typically include long breaks between semesters. Although lecturers still do some work during these periods, they usually have more downtime than many corporate roles. Compared with many private-sector jobs, lecturers may teach only a few hours per week. Much of the rest of the time can be self-scheduled. Outside exam periods, schedules can be relatively flexible.
Lecturers often have access to sports centers, libraries, staff clubs, campus transportation systems and other amenities that are usually free or very inexpensive.
When people compare lecturers’ salaries to private-sector salaries in Nigeria, they often ignore the cost savings from housing, schooling, healthcare, and utilities. Those benefits can reduce major household expenses that private-sector workers typically pay fully out of pocket. |

Politics › Re: Are Our Governors Getting Less Powerful ? by Officer4: 5:47pm On Apr 20, 2025 |
OP..
You missed a very vital issue.
The only reason for everything you have said is EFCC.
EFCC has become a weapon for witchhunting former governors.
It is not about corruption or no corruption.
Now, Governors are scared that an enemy as President can totally chase them down with EFCC.
Obasanjo created this monster. EFCC does more harm than good. As a nation, we could get rid of corruption collectively. But you see this EFCC ,it will cause more people to be smarter in their corruption. In fact t, nepotism is a major offshoot of EFCC, because if I cannot steal enough for my family, then I'll employ them into office to help themselves. Wike employed over 3000 Mandate Secretaroes at the same time few weeks to election. EFCC cannot hold him to it because that wasn't financial crime. But it was a smart way to officially and nepotically pay your campaign managers to do the needful. |
