During President Muhammadu Buhari's administration (2015–2023), several individuals served as Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS), each hailing from different states in Nigeria.

Inspectors General of Police:

1. Solomon Arase (April 2015 – June 2016): Appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan and continued under President Buhari until his retirement. He is from Edo State.


2. Ibrahim Idris (June 2016 – January 2019): Succeeded Arase and served until his retirement. He is from Niger State.


3. Mohammed Adamu (January 2019 – April 2021): Appointed by President Buhari. He is from Nasarawa State.


4. Usman Alkali Baba (April 2021 – June 2023): Took over from Adamu and served until the end of Buhari's tenure. He is from Yobe State.



Chiefs of Army Staff:

1. Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (July 2015 – January 2021): Appointed by President Buhari. He is from Borno State.


2. Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru (January 2021 – May 2021): Succeeded Buratai but tragically died in a plane crash in May 2021. He was from Kaduna State.


3. Major General Farouk Yahaya (May 2021 – June 2023): Appointed after Attahiru's death and served until the end of Buhari's administration. He is from Zamfara State.



These appointments reflect the diverse representation from various states across Nigeria during President Buhari's administration.
