Jobs/VacanciesHow to Get a Nursing Job in the UK by Officialsetlinn(op):
How to Get a Nursing Job in the UK!

The nursing profession is highly respected for its admirable contributions to healthcare and provides a rewarding career path with lots of room for advancement. The United Kingdom's healthcare industry is growing and vibrant, which attracts nurses looking for fulfilling work opportunities. This article is to offer useful insights on how to land a nursing position in the UK.

To become a member of the National Health Service, nurses who received their training outside the UK must complete several requirements. As you may already know, foreign nurses who wish to work as NHS nurses in the UK must be properly qualified. They must possess a nursing certification that permits them to be licenced as nurses or midwives in the nation where they received their training.

A crucial step for nurses overseas to become an NHS nurse is to register with the
Nursing and Midwifery Council of the United Kingdom (NMC)
, the independent regulator of nurses and midwives in the UK. The main steps in the UK nursing registration procedure are shown below. Recall that this procedure may vary based on whether your training took place outside of or inside the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA).

The first step is getting documentation of
English language ability

Only the
IELTS
and OET language examinations are now recognised by the NMC as proof of an individual's proficiency in English communication. For nursing registration, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic test is perfect as it incorporates elements of academic language. The NMC accepts both computer and paper versions of the
IELTS
exam. You need to have an IELTS overall score of no less than 7, a minimum of 7 in the Speaking, Reading, and Listening portions, and not less than 6.5 in the Writing component to be qualified for NMC registration.

If you take the IELTS exam within six months of one another and your combined test scores from both sittings do not fall below 6.5, you may also combine your test results and meet the minimum score in two sittings.

The second step is to finish the
NMC
application for eligibility and qualification

Before working with the NHS, you must register with the NMC. Creating a profile on their official website and completing their eligibility and qualifications applications are two requirements. In the process, you will need to supply the following:

Personal information
Passport data
Nursing education information (including title and date of degree)
Professional registration details in the country of training
Additionally, you will need to attach scanned copies of any necessary documents.

The third step is to pass the computer-based test (CBT)

After your eligibility has been verified by the NMC, you will be required to complete the
Test of Competence (ToC)
. The actual examination of Competence is divided into two sections: the OSCE, a practical exam, and the CBT, a computer-delivered examination. The two exams can be done in any sequence, but as the OSCE can only be completed at a specific test site in the UK, the majority of foreign nurses start with the CBT. In contrast, CBT testing facilities may be found in the majority of countries worldwide.

The CBT consists of three tests: a theoretical exam with multiple-choice questions, an objective question type, and a numeracy test with questions with brief answers requiring a numerical response. Part A of the test is a 15-mark numeracy assessment, and Part B is a 100-mark theory assessment. Together, the test has 115 questions. There isn't any partial credit because every question is graded as either correct or wrong. Usually, test results are available 48 hours after the test is taken.

Obtaining a job offer from the NHS in Step 4

Your NMC online profile will reflect that you passed the CBT after you took it. To obtain a job proposal from a UK NHS trust, you can start going to in-person or virtual job interviews. Your company must do many background checks on you after making a job offer to make sure you are a suitable fit.

Step five is asking the employer for a
Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)

An electronic record, rather than a physical paper, the NHS hospital that plans to hire you will award you a
Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)
. It is often given out upon your complete completion of the CBT. A special reference number on the certificate holds information regarding you as well as the NHS position you have been given. You won't be able to submit an application for a
Tier 2 visa
without the CoS.

Obtaining a Tier 2 Health and Care Worker visa is the next step

To encourage nursing experts from all over the world to relocate to the UK and work there, the

Health and Care Worker visa category
was created. Additional advantages of this visa type include faster entrance into the UK, lowered visa costs, and waiver of the healthcare premium. After submitting your biometric data, you may anticipate your application for a visa in three weeks if you apply this way.

Jobs/VacanciesNigerian's Impact On Germany's Labour Market by Officialsetlinn(op): 8:11am On Mar 27, 2024
Germany is facing a deepening shortage of skilled workers due to various political, historical, and economic factors. The ageing population is resulting in a long-term decline in the number of potential workers available to the labour market. This trend is already causing shortages in some industries and regions, with projections indicating a worsening situation in the future. According to a study by the
Institute for Employment Research (IAB)

sustaining the labour supply until 2060 would require an annual net migration of 400,000 individuals - now let that sink for a moment! This situation presents not just an economic challenge, but also an opportunity to innovate in how we attract and integrate skilled labour into the economy.

As a Nigerian, you know the value of hard work and resilience. But did you know that our skills and talents are in high demand halfway across the globe? Germany is facing a significant shortage of skilled workers, and Nigeria has what it takes to bridge the gap!

Shining Light on Sustainable Solutions

Recently, we had the privilege of attending the IHK Potsdam event, where movers and shakers from various sectors converged to discuss economic strategies in Brandenburg. Among them was our very own Stephen Bwete from Kirooto Consults International, diving into educational challenges and apprenticeship recruitment. The key takeaway? Collaborative strategies are the name of the game!

Key Insights and Strategies Unveiled

From the event, we gleaned some crucial strategies to combat the skilled labour shortage:

Unified Workforce Strategy: It's all about aligning industry needs with workforce capabilities.
Investment in Infrastructure: Building a strong foundation for economic growth and development.
Interregional Mobility: Encouraging mobility to spread opportunities far and wide.
Vocational Guidance: Providing pathways for aspiring professionals to enter skilled professions.
Streamlined Bureaucracy: Because let's face it, we've all had our fair share of bureaucratic battles!

With the Opportunity Pulse AfroDiasporan, Germany's skilled labour shortage is not a challenge; it's an opportunity

EducationGerman Universities To Study In 2024 WITH LOW CGPA by Officialsetlinn(op): 8:46am On Jan 09, 2024
Many foreigners aspire to study in Germany because public universities there offer free tuition and excellent educational opportunities. But what if you have a low CGPA? Does that imply you have no possibility of being accepted?

Hold onto your hope. This post will discuss the specifics of the admissions procedure and provide some
German public institutions with CGPAs between 2.1 and 2.2. This is meant to inspire rather than depress you. Hard work and determination will help you realise your dream of studying in Germany.

Types of German Universities To Study in 2024 with low CGPA:
Technical Universities (TU Universities): Target Technical Universities Admission to these institutions typically requires a higher CGPA. Usually, a minimum of 3.2 or 3.3 is required for admission. Studying in large cities like Frankfurt or Hamburg may also lead to greater employment prospects.
Universities of Applied Sciences (Hochschule): You might think about applying to Hochschule universities if your CGPA is in the 2.7–3.2 level. When it comes to admissions, they are less stringent than technical universities. Furthermore, a large number of Hochschule universities enjoy an excellent reputation with foreign students.
German University System
There are two main categories of
universities in Germany:

Private universities: Although they charge high tuition, these establishments provide top-notch education.
Public universities: These offer free tuition and frequently offer English-language courses. They are the subject of this essay since they provide an affordable option for studying in Germany. So take note.

Find Smaller Universities in Smaller Cities: It is suggested for students with a CGPA below 2.7 to focus on colleges located in smaller towns or cities. Your chances of being admitted are higher because the competition is not as strong.

How to Target these universities and be admiitted
Research and Shortlist: Use platforms like DAAD.DE to explore universities in Germany. If your CGPA is on the lower side, shortlist 20-25 institutions that have more relaxed admission criteria.

Craft a Strong Motivation Letter: Your motivation letter can compensate for a low CGPA. Highlight your passion for the course, any relevant certifications, skills, or experiences you possess. For instance, if you’re applying for a Computer Science program and have excelled in related subjects, emphasize that in your application.

Gather Essential Documents:
Ensure you have:
A compelling motivation letter
Copies of all pertinent certificates
School diploma/degree program certificates
Translated overview of your modules

Proof of language proficiency

Learn German: Even basic
proficiency in the German language can bolster your application.
If you can showcase your ability to speak and read German with a certificate, it can significantly enhance your chances.
