As proposed by the colonial the Kainji programs was meant for 120000Mw after completion but because Nigeria became Independent in October 1960, but instead of Tafawa/Balewa_ Nnamdi Azikwe governmental system to continue with the programs as planned by the Colonial administration it was not continued as planned, then came Gowon military administration period and when he came to power and he was told to continue with Kainji Hydro systems that was meant to be 1200Mw but Balewa/ Zik administration only 320 Mw was done ,but instead but Gowon said No, [MONEY IS NOT OWER PROBLEMS BUT HOW TO SPEND IT] and that was how Kainji Dam was abandoned unfortunately by 1975 one of the 4 units has collapsed bringing back the system to just 250Mw. Up till today no any on going power supply projects programs have ever been completed except abandoned.
Also remember during Babangida military administration when he said his administration Wii no more supply money to NEPA power programs buildings again which brought about NEPA strike 1988 that led TO 11 NEPA staff Unions being asked to be sentenced to death through Treason but were only sentenced to 10 year jails each at Kano high court. So also remember during TINUBU Lagos State administration when he started the Lagos State coastal area Hydro power stations with the contractors from one of the great Lakes [HOMES] in America. In 1995 the new Lagos areas were happy with the on going power supply in that area at 12 Naira per kwh unit, but Obasanjo as political administrative ruler then said the contractor of the Hydro power supply stations should charge their supply to the area at 4 Naira per units as they the government are charging their own unavailable supply to people, and this led the company abandoning their Lagos State coastal area Hydro power stations programs.
