Hon. Omolafe condemns violence, drums support for Jegede.

Hon. Omolafe Adedayo ( Expensive), Member representing Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency at National Assembly, has strongly condemned yesterday's attacks on the campaign convoy of the Ondo PDP Governorship Candidate Eyitayo Jegede SAN, at Ipele/Owo by people suspected to be APC thugs.

Hon. Omolafe who decries this uncouth culture of violence, calls on the Law enforcement Agencies to be alive to their responsibilities by quickly checkmating this menace from further polluting the once peaceful atmosphere of Ondo state.

He admonishes the political Leaders, particularly in the ruling APC, to imbibe the sprit of tolerance & refrain from volatile utterances that can provoke actions that are antithetical to ethos of development & our advancement towards civilised democracy.

Hon Omolafe advises our youths to engage in productive ventures instead of being used as agents of killings & destruction by some selfish politicians.

He furthermore appeals to Ondo electorate to vote PDP candidate in the 10/10/2020 election. 'Eyigboluga is the trusted team that will bring our dear state to new era of peace & prosperity" The Lawmaker added.

Politics / Ondo 2020: APC Thugs Attack PDP Campaign Train In Owo. by Ogbenitayo: 9:18pm On Sep 29, 2020
Press Statement

Breaking News ....

The convoy of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) was today attacked in Ipele and Owo township in Owo Local Government by heavily armed APC political thugs.

A PDP member by name, Hon. Amuda Sikiru, was shot in the face and abdomen during our campaign rally in Owo town by the APC thugs. The victim who is still lying unconscious was rushed to the state's specialist hospital in Akure in the Ambulance attached to the candidate's convoy.

Also wounded by the APC thugs' bullet attacks were Messes Taye Akintufede and Seun Ogunlade. They have also been rushed to the hospital.

Besides, some of our campaign vehicles were damaged, as was witnessed in Oba-Akoko community recently.

One of the convoy's campaign trucks was completely burnt down.

Earlier in the day, the same APC armed hoodlums had blocked the entry point to Ipele community, Jegede's maternal home, and attempted to turn back the campaign team.

This spate of attacks on our members by the ruling party in the state is threatening the peace of the state, and is apparently intended to cause violence ahead of the October 10 governorship election.

We are calling on the Inspector-General of Police, the human rights community, and other international bodies to come to our rescue in Ondo State.

We want a free and fair election, but the party in power does not.

Politics / Ondo 2020: Return Of People’s Friend. by Ogbenitayo: 8:56am On Sep 26, 2020
Jegede: Return of the People's Friend

By Kayode Fasua

It was like a daze of the locust. From the FUTA Junction major road-stretch of Akure, the Ondo state capital, to its Oba-Ile Road terminus, the joy of the exultant sea of heads that lined the road was boundless. It simply captured the mood of virtually everyone in the Sunshine State: as in the state capital, virtually all communities are represented.

Elsewhere in Ese-Odo, Ilaje, Ikale, Ondo, Idanre, Owo, Ose, and Akoko communities, same scenario of people rolling out celebration drums was simultaneously replicated. All over the state, it was a chummy moment.

What happened? The Court of Appeal, sitting in Abuja, had just ruled that Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) was the authentic governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State.

The verdict came as a crescendo of laughter to distressing weeks of a legal jigsaw, which was masterminded by a combined team of political conspirators, whose ego had probably been wounded by the unprecedented love displayed for Jegede by the people of Ondo State.

Before the appellate court’s final ruling, a federal high court, also in Abuja, had given the PDP governorship ticket to a candidate of a faction of the party, whose role in the Ondo PDP was somewhat concomitant with the mandate of Biblical Judas. The faction claimed to own the PDP despite its lucid-clear flirtations with the ruling party in Nigeria.

But at the end of the dark tunnel came the roseate glow, which beamed hard and dashed the expectation of the wicked. However, salvation also came at the throes of death, as it were, bearing that the sound judgement from the temple of justice was delivered when the governorship election was only two days away.

Jegede, a natural crowd puller, was effectively restrained by the subsisting judgement of the lower court as he could not campaign for one and half months, but kept having his days in the court before the Appeal Court’s soothing balm. And despite having only two days to campaign in the governorship race, his showing in the final result of the election was as commendable as it was astounding. While Jegede’s PDP scored over 150,000 votes, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) scored a little above 200,000 votes.

All these dramatic tintinnabulations as had formed part of the chequered history of Ondo State played out way back in October/November 2016, about four years ago.
Unfazed by the loss of that election through various conspiratorial gang-ups and the use of brute force by political desperadoes, Jegede took all in his strides by congratulating the winner of the election and even throwing a party to cheer up moody supporters who thronged his campaign office on a ‘sympathy’ visit.

Now, almost four years down the lane, the badinage had fallen, as all pretensions also collapsed in tow. All that the masses of Ondo State had been promised are now no more than a mirage, as the deity that promised to rescue the people not only whipped them sore, but also took away the little they possessed.

All the legacies of affordable and subsidised healthcare, free bus ride for school pupils, integrated rural transformation, and many other laudable programmes of the past PDP administration in the state have not only been abandoned, the state as a whole has also been worsted by a reign of inertia.

Jegede, a Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General for almost eight years under a PDP administration that took welfarism as its morning creed, from findings, was a quick, quiet achiever. He was a utility player in the then cabinet of Governor Olusegun Mimiko. It would later be known that Jegede was multi-tasking, in that, he played crucial roles in policy formulations for the administration.

As Justice Commissioner, the judiciary of Ondo State bubbled in career fulfillment and infrastructural uplift, along with the entrenchment of Jegede’s well-known belief in, and respect for the rule of law.

While campaigning to be governor, Jegede, fondly called by his first name, Eyitayo or Eyi, had designed various programmes to transform the lives of the people of the state. Principal among them was the grand design to set up industries in cluster formation, by collaborating with credible investors, who must, as of compulsion, employ residents of the state.

This way, massive employment will be achieved and the inglorious acronym of 'civil service state' tacked to our Sunshine State, in jocose parlance, will be naturally obliterated.

Again, as a way of boosting food supply and stemming the tide of unemployment, Jegede had projected various agro-allied industries embedded in various farm settlements across the state, which will in turn lead to the opening up of the state’s sea port at Igbokoda.

He also, during his campaigns, told of local investors having high stakes in his projected industrialisation drive, with the foreign investors coming only to complement. This is aside from massive road constructions, enhanced educational facilities and subsidies, and affordable healthcare.

Four years ago when Jegede was campaigning to be governor, tuition payments in government-owned territory institutions were in the region of N35,000 per session. But when the APC took over power, things shockingly turned topsy-turvy. Tuition fees were not only outrageously increased to as much as N250,000 per session, the institutions' running grants are best received in the dreamland.

Indubitably, all can today attest to the fact that stultifying parents are wrenched, pained and stoic, facing the helplessness of watching their children drop out of school, and in absurd cases, their female children forced into the scarlet night, to eke out a living.

But as in the soothing balm of a matador that has come to overpower a rambunctious bull, Jegede has promised to crash the exorbitant tuition fees, and bring about total transformation of the state's tottering education system.

For Jegede, human empowerment takes precedent above all other considerations, as he is always visibly shaken finding people in abject poverty, hunger and other forms of deprivation. Which is why, at his private level, Jegede religiously hosts the indigent members of the public in Ondo State, who include widows, the physically challenged, and the jobless, at his residence once a week, where he provides them succour.

Jegede’s record in public and private capacities sparkles in cleanliness, as he flaunts the clean bill of health of the incorruptible senior advocate. The little resources he shares with the tribe of the needy are derived from his sweat, being someone who cherishes hard work, ennobled with due reward.

We, the good people of Ondo State, are thus ready to give our all for this human dynamo, the friend of the masses, and the true leader of his people, as he throws his hat in the ring, contesting the governorship position on the PDP platform again, come October 10, 2020.

Politics / Ondo 2020: APC Evil Plans On Ondo People Exposed!!! by Ogbenitayo: 7:14am On Sep 20, 2020
PRESS STATEMENT

The general public have been alerted long before now as to the sinister plans being hatched by the ruling APC in Ondo State to adorn political thugs in PDP branded materials to unleash mayhem on itself and the gathering of other political parties with the sole intention of putting the blame on the PDP.

The APC who boasted of militancy, arms and ammunition through one of their party chieftains and unleashed unprovoked mayhem on the PDP a few days ago in a botched assassination attempt on the PDP Governorship candidate have moved to the next scene of the unfolding drama.

The information of the arrest of some hoodlums in branded vehicles wearing PDP logo at Ifon in Ose LG, whilst our campaign train is due to make a stop in the town, that is presently circulating on Social Media, is nothing but an attempt by the APC to make good its evil plans.

While appreciating the security agencies for their vigilance in averting a needless mayhem, we urge the general public to remain focused and not fall for the antics of the ruling APC who are determined to draw us into unproductive arguments that can distract us from those issues that border on the welfare of our people and failure of the APC government in addressing them.

PRESS STATEMENT

AKETI STORMS OBA-AKOKO, ATTACKS JEGEDE'S CAMPAIGN CONVOY

...

No fewer than five persons sustained varying degrees of injuries Today, Wednesday, September 16, 2020, when, quite unexpectedly, the convoy of Ondo State governor, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu stormed Oba-Akoko in Akoko South-West and started attacking the campaign team of Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, the PDP governorship flagbearer.

As at now, no fewer than three vehicles in the convoy of Jegede have been badly damaged, while Jegede himself is being held hostage inside the palace of the monarch of Oba-the Oloba, by gun-totting hoodlums suspected to be agents of the governor.

Curiously, Akeredolu was sighted inside he convoy while the attacks lasted, while police operatives in the location simply vascillated and looked on in the face of the orgies of madness.

In the last five days too, there have been series of attacks on PDP supporters in Aiyede-Ogbese community in Akure North LGA, leading to machete and gun attacks and the burning of at least two houses of PDP members.

These continued attacks on PDP members by Aketi's political thugs and shock troops, are no doubt threatening the peace of our dear state.

We earnestly call on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector-General of Police to urgently wade in, to save the lives of members of the public who are being prevented by the powers-that-be in Ondo State from belonging to political parties of their choice.

We are gravely oppressed, and are overwhelmed beyond words.

Vote massively for Eyitayo Jegede And Protect your votes
– Senator Akinyelure

September 14, 2020

Senator Ayo Akinyelure representing Ondo Central Senatorial district at the Senate and Chairman Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions charged all indigenes and electorates in Ondo State to come out and vote massively for the PDP candidate, Barrister Eyitayo Jegede in the October 10 governorship election, because that day is a special day to liberate Ondo State from the draconic administration of APC.

“Do not be intimidated by the baseless bragging of some members of the ruling party, Ondo State people never fall for that in the past and would not fall now, we are brave people” the Senator said during his address at the flag-off ceremony for the PDP Gubernatorial candidate at MKO Democracy Park Akure.

Senator Akinyelure also said PDP belongs to Ondo State and reminded them the need to use their voting power to retrieve their mandate from APC administration headed by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, a government that squandered all the state resources for nurturing their immediate families and friends.

Also speaking on behalf of the PDP National Caucus in the National Assembly at the jam-packed MKO Democracy Park, the Senator assured Ondo State electorates of a PDP victory in the October election , but cautiously reminded them the only way this could be achieved without controversies is to come out massively, vote for Eyitayo Jegede as Governor, Gboluga Ikengboju as Deputy Governor and guide their votes until counted.

He finally reminded them that voting back PDP administration in Ondo State will bring back affordable healthcare system, qualitative and affordable education including other laudable programmes that will make life meaningful for the people of Ondo State.

Politics / Ondo 2020: PDP Says APC Is Jittery by Ogbenitayo: 7:39pm On Sep 13, 2020
September 13, 2020

Press Conference.

PDP Accuses Jittery APC of Burning INEC Office In Ondo

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) asks Nigerians to hold the All Progressives Congress (APC) responsible for the burning of the head office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akure, Ondo state.

The party says that information available to it indicates that the heinous act was perpetrated by agents of the APC as part of plots by APC leaders in the state to destroy INEC sensitive equipment so as to frustrate the conduct of credible, free and fair governorship election in the state.

It is clear that the APC has been in extreme fear over the soaring popularity of the PDP governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, across the state, for which the APC has resorted to violence and underhand tactics, particularly after realizing that there is no way its candidate, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who has failed the people can win in a transparent, free and fair election on October 10.

Our party invites Nigerians to note that that the attack on the Ondo INEC office is came after, self-confessed APC militant and former APC in the state, Isaac Kekemeke, boasted that the APC will use violence to rig the October 10 election and that Governor Akeredolu was behind the violent political attacks rocking the state.

Kekemeke had also boasted of APC’s plans to import armed thugs and militants to unleash mayhem in the state and disrupt a peaceful electoral process.
It is therefore not by happenstance that the fire occurred in no other place than the facility where sensitive materials, such as card readers were stored, leading to the destruction of not less than 5141 card readers meant for the election were destroyed.

Nigerians can recall that failure by security agencies to pull in individuals like Kekemeke and other APC hoodlums for questioning emboldened such brazen attack on INEC head office.

Moreover, our party has also been reliably informed of plots by the APC to attack other INEC facilities in the state in its desperation to cripple the commission and impede to conduct of a credible poll.

Our party restates our call on the security agencies to check the violence proclivities of the APC by immediately inviting Governor Akeredolu, Kekemeke and other APC leaders in Ondo state for questioning and possible extraction of undertaking from them ahead of the election.

We call on INEC to note that the APC is after its facilities and as such put stronger measures to protect itself from the assaults of the APC.

Furthermore, our party will intensely monitor the process of replacement of the burnt card readers by INEC. This is to ensure that the APC did not succeed in their plots to manipulate the programming of the new card readers to suit their ugly plots of compromising sensitive data in the existing voters register in Ondo State.

Furthermore, the PDP urged the people of Ondo state to remain at alert and resist the APC in their plot to disrupt credible elections on October 10.

Above all, we restate our call on Governor Akeredolu to accept that he has failed the people with his incompetent administration; he should come to terms to the fact that the people have rejected him and that no amount of violence will make them to bend their resolve to replace him with the PDP candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, come October 10.

Guber Race: Jegede Unfolds Mass Employment Agenda in Ondo

In a bid to flatten the curve of unemployment rate in Ondo State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), has proposed a new formula for mass employment.

Speaking during a courtesy call on the Ikare-Akoko monarch, the Olukare, Oba Akadiri Momoh, Jegede said a government under him would partner investors, with a joint agreement on compulsory job provision for those resident in Ondo State.

Unfolding the agenda, he said, "If you elect us, we will give financial support for the establishment of industries across the state, by interested investors.

"However, we will set a condition that they must employ people living in Ondo State, that are without jobs.

"In addition, we will support farmers by providing them farm inputs and financial aids; besides our already laid-out plan to establish agro-allied industries in cluster formations, to provide sustainable market for our rural farmers."

The governorship candidate also empathised with parents whose children had dropped out of school, owing to the exorbitant tuition fees introduced by the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in the state.

He assured that once elected governor, he would immediately "crash the unreasonable tuition fees and also provide conducive learning environment for students and pupils across the state."

"As you also must have heard that we intend to restore the the policy of free healthcare for pregnant women, nursing mothers and the enfeebled, I want to assure you that a Mother and Child Health Care Centre will be sited in Ikare, if I am elected governor."

Jegede further promised to revamp the moribund Awara Water Dam Project, which, if on stream, has the capacity to supply potable water to most parts of the northern senatorial district, and some parts of Ekiti State.

Responding, the Olukare, Oba Momoh, expressed delight at the issue-based campaigns of Jegede, and prayed for his success at the polls.

PDP'll Stamp Out Kidnapping in Akokoland, Jegede Assures

Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) has assured residents of border communities in Akokoland of adequate protection against kidnappers, if elected governor.

The candidate, who was on a campaign visit to Ikakumo, in Akoko North-East local council area, gave the assurance amidst wailings by residents who demanded government protection.

Jegede, who lamented the ordeals of the locals in the hands of kidnappers and other criminals, said the scenario would become a thing of the past, once PDP is given the mandate to govern Ondo State.

"We are highly concerned for your welfare and are worried over the onslaught of kidnappers and other criminals in Akoko border communities.

"I want to assure you of effective security arrangement that will stamp out the incidence of kidnapping, disruptive invasions and other criminal activities, in these areas," Jegede promised.

He also assured farmers in the area that farm input and grants-in-aid would be provided for them, and that government would establish agro-allied industries to provide sustainable markets for their farm produce.

Besides, Jegede reiterated his determination to "crash the current high tuition and school fees imposed on parents by the current administration."

"I know how many of you toil day and night to fend for your children; and adding to the burden through exorbitant school fees is wicked," he stressed.

Earlier, a PDP leader in Ikakumo, Mr. Tunde Obaide, had disclosed that the community which which shares borders with Kogi and Edo States, were prepared to keep vigil against the infiltration of the state by would-be election riggers, from other states.

"Ikakumo is a gateway town.We have anointed all the border points in unison and God will help us to ward off whoever intends to subvert the people's will, come October 10," Obaide enthused.

Ward 2 PDP chairman in the area, Mr. Johnson Bayode, also said communities comprising Ikakumo, Akunu, Iboropa, Ise and Auga, had adopted Jegede and were prepared to vote for the PDP.

Welcoming Jegede to her palace, the Regent of Ikakumo, Princess Olayinka Orogun, said the candidate was well known to her, describing him as humble, hardworking and humane.
