Politics / How Buruji Thwarted Gni's Election Victory by OgunStateUpdate: 1:24pm On Dec 13, 2015
New revelations are coming from the 2015 governorship elections in Ogun State on why the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka lost to the incumbent Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
The latest angle came shortly after a party that was held at Senator Buruji Kasamu's house in Ijebu Igbo. The party which was tagged "Victory Party" was organised to celebrate the Court of Appeal judgement upholding the result of the election which returned the alleged 'drug lord' as duly elected Senator of the Ogun East senatorial district.
Meanwhile, shortly after the event, another meeting was said to have been hosted over night with Buruji himself presiding and it was said his governorship ambition for 2019 dominated the event.
Some members of the party however were said to have asked why the hurry, especially as Gboyega Isiaka's matter is still before the Court of Appeal. They were said to have also asked why was GNI not invited to attend the meeting, especially as he was around for the Victory party.
According to a reliable source at the event, Buruji made some feeble attempt to justify why GNI could not attend, "at first, he claimed that he merely excused GNI because he had to go and make preparation for his mother's turbanning as the Iya Adinni of Imeko Moslems the following day, but as the meeting progresses, he told us that GNI cannot be trusted with sensitive political issues as we are discussing here because he is still neither here nor there"
The source further hinted that Buruji believes that GNI still hobnobs with OGD secretly, accusing him of going with former Governor Gbenga Daniel to go and collect N2b from Governor Ibikunle Amosun to trade off his (GNI's) governorship ambition. Buruji, it was alleged also accused Gboyega Isiaka of collecting N700 million from Abuja for his governorship election campaign but failed to disclose some of the amount to the party, and himself as the leader in Ogun State. He was said to have blamed that as some of the reason why the Governorship election was lost, expressing regret that he does not see anything coming out of the court of Appeal for GNI because he refused to accept the lawyers he recommended to handle the election petitions.
Some of those who attended the meeting but loyal to the Gboyega Isiaka for governor's cause are however said to have been disappointed, disclosing that they suspect that Buruji Kasamu himself traded off on the PDP governorship ticket in 2015 so as to pave way for his own ambition in 2019. From the way he talked "he never for once sounded like someone who trusted GNI one bit. Buruji appears too desperate for his future political immunity than he was interested in getting GNI elected. I am afraid, we might have been sold a dummy. The next greatest political project Buruji wants us to buy into now, is his governorship for 2019; and he was the greatest beneficiary of all our efforts since 2011. He has successfully used all of us to get himself into the Senate, now we are all going to be hoarded like he-goats again to make him governor. It looks like I am tired". A PDP leader offered.

Politics / Re: Senator Kashamu Replies Ogd.....says All Powers Belong To God. by OgunStateUpdate: 8:29pm On Oct 26, 2015
I will restrict my comments to setting the records straight for now. The above picture was taken at Asoludero on the day before the election in April 2015.

Against the backdrop of campaign funds. All should note that I did not collect any campaign funds contrary to the deliberate distortion of Buruji Kashamu & co.

On this day at about 12 noon I received the following people who came to the house unannounced panting narrating how they escaped death by the whiskers over collection of Abuja election funds from Abeokuta. They were Hon Segun Seriki, The Ogun State Presidential Campaign Coordinator, his Deputy Hon Titi OSENI and Omoba Doyin Okupe, the Presidential Spokesman. They met some people with me and were narrating how Buruji and Co wanted to hijack the campaign funds and that it was so bad that they could not wait to collect the entire funds from the bank and had to run for dear life. The 3 of them apparently went to the bank to collect the funds. Not quite 10 mins that they entered did I received another delegation this time Buruji himself with GNI in tow and Bisola Sodipo-Clark. I in fact thought it was a last minute visit to secure some cooperation for the election as neither Kashamu nor Bisola Clark had come to the house to see me on acct of their election.

It soon became clear that what they were chasing was campaign funds which they thought was brought to my house. It took the best of management for me to stem what could have been a disaster as TITI OSENI and Bisola Clark nearly exchange fisticuffs while SEGUN Seriki rejected the plea by Buruji to part with any additional funds apart from the ones they Buruji & co collected from the Bank.

I then went into a mediation meeting with Buruji and ask for his suggestion for the way out of the logjam. It was he Buruji who insisted that he must have additional N100m more. It was a big issue for me to persuade SS and OSENI to accept this position as a truce.

Where is the money?. It was at this stage that they confessed that they had to move the funds to safekeeping somewhere on Iperu probably with Omoba Doyin Okupe, The Presidential Spokesman. Buruji and Co decided they will have to wait for the money and I also insisted the other party must comply with the gentleman's agreement. Buruji, GNI Clark them waited for about one Hour for the money. I entertained them meanwhile and cooled nerves successfully. It was after that that I escorted Buruji & GNI outside where that picture was taken. In the course of waiting we also agreed on what each side should do with the funds to ensure a success. All can see the mood of that picture on that day. Where and what did I go wrong?

I am happy that HON Segun Seriki have done a preliminary report and taken responsibility as the Ogun State Presidential Coordinator. I will stop for now. I have not spoken yet I have just set the records straight. - Gbenga Daniel
