PRESS RELEASE TINTED GLASS PERMIT: NPF EXTENDS GRACE PERIOD AMID ONGOING SERVICE REVIEWS The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved an extension of the grace period for the enforcement of Tinted Glass Permit requirement to the 12th of August, 2025. This extension comes on the heels of several concerns and feedback expressed by members of the public regarding the reactivation of the digital Tinted Glass Permit application process. In line with our commitment to delivering transparent, inclusive, and citizen-focused policing, the Force wishes to affirm that it has not ignored the voices of Nigerians. Rather, these voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process to ensure it remains user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all. The extension of enforcement is also intended to give room for additional enhancements and refinements to the application process, ensuring that no member of the public is unduly disadvantaged. The NPF is actively working to simplify and improve both the physical and contactless application options including enhanced verification mechanisms and streamlined procedures to reduce delays and eliminate undue inconveniences. Members of the public are reminded that the authorized platform for the application and renewal of the Tinted Glass Permit is accessible via http://www.possap.gov.ng. Citizens are also encouraged to report all unauthorized or hidden charges as well as extortion in the course of application or biometric capturing to the appropriate Police authorities, including via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000. The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to public safety, digital innovation, and continuous improvement in service delivery, and appreciates the cooperation and patience of the Nigerian people as these reforms are carried out. Saleslourd: Hi guys,
After seeing so much confusion online about the Police Tinted Glass Permit in 2025, I decided to share my experience — especially for anyone trying to go through the legal route this year.
I used to think the process was all about “just apply and wait” — but I later found out there are important details most people overlook (and that can cause unnecessary delays or even rejection).
Here’s what I learned:
✅ The online application is only one step — there’s more to it. ✅ There are 3 types of tinted glass setups, and not all require medical reports. ✅ Certain documents (especially the car’s VIN or tint markings) make a big difference. ✅ If your car is registered in someone else’s name (e.g., inheritance or company), there are legit ways to still get approved. ✅ Police checks can happen even while your application is “pending”, so knowing what to say is key.
This is not about “shortcuts” or bribery. It’s about understanding the right steps so you don’t waste time or get harassed on the road.
If you’re still in the dark or worried about processing yours, I’ve documented everything I wish I knew earlier in a short info guide — with screenshots, tips, and common mistakes to avoid. Just helping out.
Drop your questions or share your own experience. I’ll try to respond to as many as I can.
Stay safe on the roads. 🇳🇬 Good day Please what if the vehicle is not registered in my name but a late brothers name And I have been the one using the vehicle like that for about five years now How do I go about it? |

Easyinfoguide: @Ojukwu4real
Sorry for your loss bro. If the vehicle papers are still in your late brother’s name and you don’t have a Letter of Administration (LOA) yet, here are your current 3 options:
Option 1: Proceed With Available Papers If you have valid:
Original vehicle license
Insurance
Roadworthiness (if applicable)
Plate number tied to that name
You can apply as-is, using his name. Just be consistent across all details and expect questions during capturing. Some have succeeded this way.
Option 2: Add an Affidavit + Police Report You can draft an Affidavit of Usage and possibly a Police Report stating the vehicle is in your possession pending LOA. This may help smoothen approval if asked later.
Option 3: Use a Trusted Service Provider (if urgent) Some experts who handle these cases daily can help push it through faster, even if documentation isn't perfect. But always verify legitimacy. (I can connect you to someone if needed.)
Let me know which way you want to go — I’ll assist as best as I can.
--- Thanks for the update I think I am leaning towards option 1 bcuz it looks more straightforward the only snag there is when I earlier heard that I need to submit a means of identification i.e. (NIN) So that's just my concern |

Easyinfoguide: Sorry for your loss.
Yes, you can still apply for the Tinted Glass Permit if you are the current user of the vehicle, but you will need to show proof that you have legal authority to use the car.
Typically, that means having a letter of administration, probate, or official documents that prove you’ve inherited or have permission to use the vehicle.
If you don’t have those documents, you may face challenges during the application or when the police check for your permit.
It’s best to first ensure the vehicle ownership or usage rights are properly transferred or legalized, then proceed with the permit application.
If you want, I can share the steps and documents needed to make the process smoother. Please I will be willing for you to put us through bcuz I don't have a letter of administration and any legal documents transferring the ownership to me bcuz getting LOA is not for the weak ooooo The LOA we have been processing for my Late Dads assets is about 10 years now and not out yet So I don't want to go through that stress again Thank you |

JoeSef0: It could be your alternator draining the battery while the car is off. My guy's 09 Corolla has same issue, we changed the battery and visited few rewire, and they kept recommending him to do kill switch which i refused. We got a third opinion and the guy checked the alternator and said it's drawing power even while the car is off. Took it somewhere to fix it and installed it back. That was the end of the issue. Wow this is a new twist to the whole thing I will have to tell my mechanic and see what comes out of this one Thanks |

BlindAngel: Yea, after successfully changing the head gasket, the car has developed another fault entirely.
Park is now reverse, drive is now neutral, neutral Is now park. My mechanic told me that the problem is from a pipe, I really couldn’t understand, but I’m praying for it to be rectified. My mechanic told me to drive it like that until he’s fully chanced, that he has so many work at hand.
I couldn’t wait so I took it to another mechanic , and it’s working at it right now as I’m typing, I pray it’s possible for it to be rectified and for everything to go back to normal, this Is my prayer right now. Wow Are you for real? |

mayor2013: From experience ensure that the trunk closes well. There is an electric padded like switch you press to lift up and close the trunk. Sometimes that switch malfunctions and usually have a mind of its own. Check that. You also need to carry out a parasitic drain test. Good luck Thanks for the update The trunk switch is not even working again so I only open manually from inside nd close with a bang There are too many electrical engineering in that vehicle and it's making it malfunction seriously |

kingreign: Using a digital multimeter, check battery voltage, then revert back.
You may also wish to check and clean the ground cable and the location where it mounts to the body of the car with a sandpaper. W164 are also known for degrading the wires of the battery and alternator for reasons I don't know. I've had to fix these in over 7 units of W164 over the years. I will have to get someone to help me with this Thanks |
