Crisis Rocks Osun PDP as Members Petition PDP Over Adekeke’s Certificate, Names, Age

January 24, 2022

Ahead of the Osun State governorship primary, some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the aegis of Concern members of PDP in Osun State on Monday petitioned the party national leadership over Senator Ademola Adeleke, certificate, names and age.

The petition dated 21st of January, 2022, submitted to the Osun state governorship appeal committee, questioned the documents submitted by Adeleke.

The petition to the appeal committee requested for Adeleke’s disqualification from participating in the forthcoming PDP gubernatorial primaries in Osun State on the grounds of impersonation, discrepancies in the information and documents submitted to the party and INEC.

The petition signed by one Akinloye Adeyi (DSS Officer RTD), said that it will be risky for the party to field Adeleke, bearing in mind what happened in the case of Bayelsa state.

The petition said: “That aspirant should be put through and monitored, writing test by the screening test to ascertain their communication skills and proof of the veracity of their academic qualification.

“That there is no nexus between Annexures 1-15 as it relates to his name, date of birth, admission number, name of the Institution he graduated from and Party membership number.

“The names on the different documents presented by Senator Ademola Adeleke are different and brandishing certificates and other documents that do not carry his name and using affidavits to assert his ownership of the Certificates and documents (Annexure 1-14) did so in error and fraudulently.

“It is one thing for a person to bear multiple names. It is another, however when it becomes a legal problem when the multiple names appear on different official documents and the effort to explain the contradictory names leads to more contradictions.

“That it may be uncanny for a person not to be sure of his name, date of birth, a number of O’ Level Subjects he sat for at WAEC, Admission number and name of the Institutions he graduated from, it becomes an issue of fraud when a man presents official documents bearing conflicting names.

“Mr. Chairman sir and the distinguished members of this Appeal Committee, we have painstakingly weighed the bright chances of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to win the next governorship election in Osun State, after waiting for 12 years of ACN APC maladministration in Osun State.

“All the sectors of the society are waiting for PDP to rescue Osun State from APC Maladministration for 12 years.

“That the documents presented by Senator Ademola Adeleke from 2017 till date to the Party are marred with severe irregularities as enumerated above, which cannot be glossed over.

“Therefore, it is my humbly request that Senator Ademola Adeleke should be disqualified from participating in the forthcoming gubernatorial primary election in Osun State in the overall interest of the Party and the Osun State.”

In his response, Senator Ademola Adeleke dismissed the various allegations, insisting that he stands by the various documents he tendered.

Dismissing the claims of the group, Adeleke explained that the various names in the documents he tendered are his.

Adeleke, who was the PDP candidate in the last governorship election in Osun State, maintained that the petition against him lacks merit.

He said: “I stand my certificate anytime, any day,” adding that the names in the documents are the names given to him by his parents.

The iconic Olaiya Flyover in Osogbo, Osun State, awarded by the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola is now at advanced stage of completion.

The 0.64km Flyover, awarded in February 2021 for N2.7 net of all taxes, is being handled by Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited founded by Engr Olarenwaju Adeleke, an Indigene of Osun State from Ile-Ogbo, Aiyedire Local Government Area of the state. The project is built through the Alternative Project Financing model.

However, the success story of the project can't be complete without the input of the governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola, who initiated the project and has provided the needed leadership to drive the project; and efforts of the state's Ministry of Works and Transport led by Engr Oluremi Omowaiye.

The Flyover is a 4-span of 15m each, with two Underpass bays for U-turning to Fakunle/Justrite and MDS/Post Office. It is a 295.95m length of Bridge Approach Ramp, 196m long Fakunle Ramp, 99.95m long MDS Ramp, with slope of Ramp being 3 per cent. The width is 10m.

Politics › Osun Food Support Scheme Is Popular And Well Received By The People by Okerenla(op): 10:49pm On Jan 21, 2022

Food Support Scheme: ‘Positive feedback have justified our noble intent’ – Osun Govt

The Government of Osun has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the monthly Food Support Scheme initiated to cushion the effects of the national economic downturn on vulnerable citizens of the State.

The government disclosed that nothing would stop the initiative as it was committed to championing the welfare and general well-being of the people particularly the vulnerable segment of the populace, saying the positive feedback received from the beneficiaries have justified its noble intent.

It further disclosed that over 300,000 vulnerable households had benefited directly while many had also benefitted indirectly since the inauguration of the Scheme.

This is even as the government flagged off the 10th edition of the scheme and commenced immediate distribution of the food items to the beneficiaries.

Addressing journalists shortly after the flag-off which held at the open ground of the Local Government Service Commission, State Government Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo, Governor Oyetola said the administration had impacted positively on the lives of beneficiaries of the scheme.

Oyetola who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, said the responses from the beneficiaries had justified the noble intent of the government to run participatory and all inclusive governance where democratic dividends would be seen and equally felt by the citizens.

Governor Oyetola said the scheme had in the last ten months of its inauguration, contributed to the economy of the State and general welfare and well-being of the vulnerable citizens who are the direct beneficiaries.

“Sincerely speaking, the feedback has been quite encouraging, the people of the State have displayed high sense of appreciation to our wonderful work in the area of infrastructure development and especially in the area of food support, the feedback we are getting is a well done job and they are appreciative of it.

“As you all know, this is the 10th edition of the programme and by implications, over 300,000 family units of vulnerable citizens and households have been fed and benefitted through this laudable initiative and they are saying it is a promise fulfilled.

“I can assure our people that this promise will continue as long as we are in government. This is not done because we are in election year, we have been doing this in the last ten months and I can assure our people that nothing will stop this.

“We have proved our capacity and capability to ensure the sustenance of this scheme contrary to what some people were saying that we won’t be able to sustain it, but today, we have proved them wrong.

“We are not unmindful of the local industries that are into food productions, for instance, last month, we distributed Ofada rice locally produced and sourced from our local farmers and by next month, we are looking at another local food that would be distributed to the vulnerable citizens.

“This is to encourage local entrepreneurs because our focus is to grow local productions, improve on our productivity and support agro-allied industries to grow for the overall development of our dear State”, he added.

Also, the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Hon. Lekan Badmus, lauded the Governor for placing the scheme on his priority list.

Badmus disclosed that the market approach adopted to further strengthen the distribution of the foods had earned the government applause as beneficiaries were excited and prayed for its continuity.

“As we all know, during the official flag off of this Scheme, Mr. Governor actually mentioned that the programme will run throughout his tenure in office. And to actualise this, Mr Governor has actually shown capacity and genuineness, and you will agree with me that foods are being shared among the 30,000 vulnerable citizens in the State on monthly basis.

“We have actually reached out to over 50 markets in six Federal Constituencies in addition to the social register adopted for distribution and the feedback has been very encouraging as many of the beneficiaries have lauded the government on the initiative.

“In developing this further, Mr Governor has also emphasised on local contents which we have been doing and we are looking at the possibility of getting more local staple foods as part of efforts to boost the economy of the State, encourage local entrepreneurs and farmers in particular.

“Initially people were scared on how we are going to finance and sustain this, but Mr Governor has been able to show his financial prowess in ensuring that this has been successfully and it is my firm belief that this is going to be sustained for as long as we are in government”, he added.

In attendance were Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Industry and Empowerment, Dr. Bode Olaonipekun and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Regional Integration; Special Duties, Mr. Samson Owoyokun and Coordinating Director, Ministry of Regional Integration and Special Duties, Mr. Kunle Falode, among others.

Publish Osun debt profile, group urges Oyetola

The Osun Mastermind group has called on the state government under the leadership of Mr Gboyega Oyetola to disclose debt burden of the state, which according to the group, the debt profile could plunge the state into a state of unsustainable loan repayment.

While speaking with Newsmen in Osogbo, the state capital, the executive Director of the group, Wasiu Ademola Oyedokun-Alli, noted that the INEC’s is already preparing to conduct an election to elect a governor in the state this year and it’s important that the people Osun is aware of the debt burden as government must be accountable to her citizens.

His statement reads;

OSUN’S DEBT PROFILE
According to information available in the public domain, Osun Mastermind Group is reliably aware that from the year 2013, the State’s total debt stock grew from a total of 51.3billion to 178.33billion in 2018.
We are also reliably aware that the total debt stock decreased from 178.33billion in 2018 to 174.94billion in 2020. We are first concerned that despite the humongous debt stock that our State had managed since its astronomical rise from the year 2013, the immediate past State Government under the leadership of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola never deemed it fit to adequately brief the State’s people on the State of their State’s finances and the hopes for the near and far future.
We are also concerned that despite the whispers in the corridors of power about the immense financial incapacity that the present administration under His Excellency, Alh. Gboyega Oyetola inherited from its predecessor, the present administration has also not deemed it necessary to adequately brief the State’s people on the true State of the State’s finances and what efforts the administration is making to keep the State afloat.
Our questions are simple. One, what is the true total debt stock of the Osun State Government as of today?
Two, understanding that the astronomical increase in the State’s Debt Stock occurred within the years that preceded the present administration, particularly from 2013 to 2018, the State’s people desire to know what the present government is doing to demand true accountability from the immediate past government, especially as developmental indices attributable to those years do not justify such humongous rise in debt stock. While the State has made some remarkable improvements in its financial sustainability ranking, moving from the 35th position to 13th, it is still important that the State’s citizens are given a clear understanding of how a debt figure nearing the 200billion mark, will be managed such that it does not again become the reason their welfare will be threatened as we saw in the previous dispensation, when government had to resort to salary modulation.

ABANDONED PROJECTS
As functional members of the Osun society ourselves, we are aware of several abandoned projects littered around the corners of the State. While some are visibly abandoned, some others were made up to look like they were indeed completed, but a closer look reveals cosmetic completion. We are quickly reminded of the Gbongan-Akoda road dualization project awarded to Messrs RATCON Construction Limited in the year 2013. The 30km project awarded at a cost of 29.3billion, was scheduled to be completed in 18 months. According to a release from the Office of the State’s Commissioner for Finance and published in the Nigerian Tribune on 18th September 2021, “as at November 2018, the contractor handling Gbongan – Akoda road project had received a total sum of N10.2bn, out of which 3.5km of the 29km stretched road had been completed including the Gbongan Interchange and the project was at 29% completion”.
A quick calculation of these figures reveal that as of November 2018, the Contractor (Messrs RATCON Construction) had received 34.8% of the total project sum, while only doing 29% of the job. Not forgetting that the project was awarded on a Contractor financing arrangement, available data shows that the Contractor was indeed being paid for work yet undone. The people of our dear State deserve to know the people behind these criminal actions. We are also quickly reminded of the 3.6billion reportedly spent on the MKO Abiola Airport, Ido-Osun, before another 69billion concessionary arrangement was made on same project.
Today, the present State Government is reportedly handing over the Airport to the Nigerian Airforce to develop and operate. We believe that where State funds are expended in such profligate manner, there first must be proper reprimands before continued work on such projects. We must not institutionalize fiscal irresponsibility by shying away from properly reprimanding persons who mismanaged such State funds on projects that eventually get abandoned. These are the sorts of spending that got Osun into such scary debt figures without commensurate rise in developmental indices. The two projects mentioned are just a few out of the long list of abandoned projects all around Osogbo and Osun State. The Ikirun – Ila Odo dualization project, the Osogbo Ring Road project, the Dagbolu project, the Aje International Market project, the Osogbo City Stadium project and several others are projects that the Osun State Government, under the leadership of Ogbeni Aregbesola spent State billions on, without commensurate results. We should not just move on and re-award these projects without first letting the State’s people know why such wastefulness that is now ending in double spending, came to be and by whom.

PENSION REMITTANCE
We are aware by virtue of our closeness to issues in Osun, that the present government in the State has only been able to make contributory pension remittance up to the year 2017. We are aware that this government commenced remittances of backlogs from the year 2014 and has since cleared three (3) years off the backlog. What beats our imagination however, is why the Osun State Government had to default in contributory pension remittance from the year 2014. This will mean again, that the immediate past government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola paid only lip service to the welfare of pensioners in the State, despite deducting pension contributions from the salaries of these pensioners while they were in active service. While the present administration continues to appeal to pensioners to give it more time, the pensioners also deserve to know the source of the delay. They deserve to know the persons who midwifed the deduction of their salaries without remitting same to the Pension Fund Administrators. They deserve to know the people who orchestrated the agonies they now pass through in trying to survive. When they can properly identify the people who impoverished them, the burden of their pains may then be easier to bear.

REPORTS OF MEGA SCHOOL BUILDING INTEGRITY TEST
Recently, the media space in Osun State went agog with news of the government’s decision to conduct integrity tests on the Mega School buildings built by the previous administration, having seen signs of structural concern on a number of the school buildings.
Unexpectedly, certain elements in the State went public with the narrative that the integrity tests were meant to ridicule the person of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola whose government constructed the Mega Schools. While this is rather unfortunate, we understand that persons who benefit from political upheavals will always find ways to attach all developmental issues to politics.
However, having visited a number of these schools ourselves, we can confirm that it is visually clear that some of those school buildings were built in a manner that totally violates project quality requirements. How do you explain the fact that in the School Hall built in Fakunle/Unity Comprehensive High School, floor tiles are already peeling off, revealing ordinary sand in some parts of the hall?
How do you explain the fact that the roof of the Wole Soyinka High School in Ejigbo is already caving in? These are just some instances out of many others. Where faults like this are visually noticeable, it becomes compulsory to investigate the overall reliability of the entire structures, to ensure that we are not unduly exposing the lives of our kids to danger. We call on the State Government to make the report of the Integrity Tests public and take appropriate steps to first make the buildings safe for use, then take further steps to ensure that the persons responsible for any shoddy job discovered, are made to face the unreserved wrath of the law. We reiterate that keeping the lives of our young ones safe is the most important factor to consider in this case, while ensuring proper reprimand of guilty parties is the second most important factor, to serve as deterrent to other such persons in the future.

ESCALATING POLITICAL TENSION IN THE STATE
We have followed with absolute regret, the escalating political tension in the State. We are aware that points of disagreement exist within the two major political parties in the State, with certain elements within both parties taking steps that can unsettle the peace of the State. We note with regrets, the increasing exchange of invectives which may soon degenerate into physical violence, especially as we approach the primary elections of the two major political parties. We want to state unequivocally, that leadership is not a do or die affair and the game of politics must therefore be played in a manner that puts the peace and tranquility of the State first before any other considerations.
If the contest is about service to people, then all aspirants must only sell themselves and programmes to the people, not attempt to blackmail, coerce or intimidate anyone. We call on all political actors in the State to make peace their priority.
The Osun Mastermind Group is a group of concerned stakeholders in Osun State, who brainstorm, plan and advocate for a better Osun State. They are group of professionals and policy analysts, who deploy their wealth of experiences to the task of analyzing the trend of activities in Osun State, with a view to contributing ideas that will help government take more people-focused actions, in line with the true ethos of an inclusive democracy.

David Adeleke (Davido): An Opportunist Who Has Lost Touch With Reality

I just stumbled on a tweet making the rounds in the cyber space credited to one David Adeleke known in the music industry as Davido. The said tweet was made against our gubernatorial candidate hopeful of the People's Democratic Party Mr Bamidele Adeleke in the forthcoming election in Osun State.

It is needless bantering or exchanging words with plurality of voices who are against the BAMIDELE ADELEKE LIBERATION MOVEMENT on the cyber space other than to be more focus and channel all efforts towards the campaigns that will launch our candidate to the front-burner of the gubernatorial race. However, since the tweet was like a child of circumstance and a child of necessity which cannot be ignored, it is very much necessary to school Davido for such reckless and thoughtless tweet and his lack of insight. And also his unfortunate tendency to offer short but poor comparative analysis, especially in an area like politics he knows next to nothing. Everything about his analysis was borne out of his narrow-mindedness.

It is rather appalling that a misguided character like Davido who was a drop out from Oakwood University Alabama, where he had earlier enrolled to study Business Administration, for nothing else than inability to excel academically could ridicule others for intellectual achievement. In his his tweet, he had posited this _"Wonderful! Me I finished Uni with a 2:1. But now cousin Dele who struggled to even get a 2:2 that is now forming "intellectual" intellectual that has not succeeded in building one single thing in his life on his own. This life ehn! Osun beware of FAKES._"

This is laughable and ill-conceived. However, It's important to let Davido know that his tweets could be likened to that of a woolly reasoner—which is devoid of coherency. What do I mean?

Let me quickly touch on those matters that led to the grade which was monetarily-shopped for him, because as at when he David Adeleke dropped out of Oakwood University he was already becoming a subject of ridicule and opprobrium to the discomfort of his father, Dr. Deji Adeleke. I'm not unaware that the primordial consideration in the form of sympathy which arose from the death of his mother, who being a lecturer at Babcock University Ilishan–Remo Ogun State, coupled with the financial inducement paved way for his eventual admission at Babcock University. For the discomfort to his dad, death of her mother and the weight of money in their possession it was deemed fit to erect a department of music for his sake and that paved way for him which by extension eventually made him a degree holder with the said grades he paraded in the cyber space. It's also of pertinent to say, He David Adeleke was a known absentee part time student at Babcock university, yet came on tweeter to display his moral decadence. It's just the case of he who pays the piper dictates the tune. How do I mean, it might interest the public to know that his father Dr. Deji Adeleke, who is a major financier and member of Governing council of Babcock university had to bulldozed his way through when he David Adeleke known as Davido was not qualified to graduate that year.

As a result of the above, the said university you claimed to have graduated from couldn't have allocated anything less to you than the grade you have. Cash and carry. If not that you are deeply plagued with co-morbid disorder, how on earth could a sane person, if not a substance–induced psychotic opportunist like you compare a 2:1 from Babcock University to a 2:2 from the great citadel of learning, Obafemi Awolowo University?

In as much as this article does not in anyway denigrate the academic performance of other students who might have graduated from the said university and those still under the tutelage of the said university, it is an issue that concerns you and not others. On this note, I must write to put history in its proper perspective and it is that David Adeleke known as Davido has no academic stamina to be the one to stage a comparison of such academic magnitude.

It's also imperative to educate David Adeleke that If he claimed Mr Bamidele Adeleke struggled to have graduated with a 2:2, that the manner in which he chose the word Struggle just to berate Mr Bamidele Adeleke corroborated my earlier position in this article that he David Adeleke is just an opportunist, who got his self-acclaimed 2:1 out of no struggle or rigorous reading---better put on a platter of Gold. Similarly, the manner in which he devised the word Struggle therein, speaks volumes about the credence of the said institution as a degree awarding one.

It is also imperative to let him, David Adeleke to know that those of us that had gone through the academic rigour of Obafemi Awolowo University, the great citadel of learning pride ourselves in the manner in which we were all trained. And never in his entire sojourn on the planet earth should he made such a cheap comparison of the grade shopped for him at the said university to that of Obafemi Awolowo University. Your self-acclaimed 2:1 cannot be rated , even neither can it match up with a pass grade from that great citadel of learning.

Conversely, like you posited in you viral tweets "Osun beware of FAKES;" of course members of the people's Democratic Party and the good people of Osun State in particular, must be watchful and meticulous enough to discern correctly this time around, and I believe they are doing it correctly. Time shall tell who is actually a fake person between your uncle Sen. Demola Adeleke whom you are evangelizing his aspiration and your cousin Mr Bamidele Adeleke whom you aimed at berating in your tweets.

At the appropriate time, the posterior of the one parading fake credentials— who ordinarily should have had an O'level at his youthful age but failed to, but now parading a degree that has no basic school certificate would be seen.

Before I cap it up, let me educate you that political leadership is not the personal property of any person, dynasty or group. Ever since Mr Bamidele Adeleke threw his hat into the gubernatorial ring, yourself and those that shared same sentiment have had your bellies full with bile, which is oozing out in torrential flow to the manner that he, Mr Bamidele Adeleke has been described in unprintable fashion in the last couple of months.

May I let you know that he, Mr Bamidele Adeleke has put his hands on the plough and there's no going back because no amount of name-callings and character assassination can wipe him off the mind of the People. Mr Bamidele Adeleke has carved a niche for himself in the spectrum of politics, both in Osun State and by extension Nigeria.

Dele Adeleke, I was told, made a Distinction in his MBA. That also should have been part of Davido's assessment of his cousin's academic, or whatever, make-up. But unfortunately, he left that details out in order to drive home his point designed to embarrass his blood. Sighs.

Meanwhile, on the basis of comparison: can Davido's 2.1, obtained from a private university's music department funded by his rich father, be compared with Dele's 2.2 in Accounting, obtained about 30 years ago, from a first generation university?

OSRA raises alarm on plot by Aregbesola to cause mayhem in Osun
...puts IGP on notice

A socio-political group , Osun Shall Rise Again, OSRA, has raised the alarm over plots by former Osun Governor and Interior minister, Rauf Aregbesola to cause mayhem in the State.

The group accused the minister of plot to use Friday's occasion of the inauguration of the Digital Centre in Ilesa which had no bearing with the Interior ministry to launch the governorship bid of former Osun Speaker, Najeem Salam, who hails from Osun West.

In a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the group respectively, Saheed Bakare and Lanre Akeju, OSRA said information at its disposal indicates that the letter written to Osun State Government by the National Communications Commissions, NCC, with respect to the occasion, did not indicate that both the Interior minister and Digital Economy minister, Dr. Isa Pantami, will be gracing the occasion.

It therefore wondered why Aregbesola would be mobilising and inducing persons to attend the event at Ilesa, if not to cause mayhem in the State.

The group also advised Governor Oyetola not to attend the event in the interest of peace and stability of the State.

To this end, “we are calling on the Inspector-General of Police to be on the look out and charge the Osun CP to take proactive measures to avert violence in Osun on Friday.

“Our former Governor and Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has been trying to create the impression that the incumbent governor is not popular, the same way it attempted to spread it in the build-up to the 2018 governorship election.

"But we are witnesses to a gale of endorsements for Oyetola's candidature from the West especially and across the State in general. And because these endorsements from our findings are spontaneous, we believe it is the reflection of the reality on the ground.

"We are aware that all those issues that reduced APC's popularity and made it struggle to win the governorship in the build-up to the 2018 governorship poll have all been addressed by Oyetola and have endeared the party to the people once more.

"From abolition of half salary to reversal of single uniform and revert to old names of the various schools among others, Oyetola has won the hearts of the people.

"Oyetola cannot be faulted on the issue of performance and the popular and acceptable saying is that ' you don't change a winning team.' Aregbesola should be advised to give peace a chance,” the group said.

Protest by a handful of protesters sponsored and egged on by the opposition PDP. The dispassionate pensioners in the state understand how committed the governor is to their welfare and plight, hence their reason for being patient with him on the inherited and backlog of gratuities.

Note: If there is any backlog to be paid to Osun Pensioners, please know that it was not owed by this administration. It is part of the debt passed on to the current government by Aregbesola.

Davido's Uncle, Ademola Adeleke, Snubs Journalists after Screening

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the fast-approaching governorship election in Osun State, Senator Ademola Ademola Adeleke has turned down all entreaties by journalists at the National Secretariat of his party in Abuja to express his views on the screening exercise.
Credible eye witnesses at the secretariat informed the medium how the former senator was approached by the news hounds to have an insight into what actually transpired at the screening room and his programmes if eventually voted to lead the state.
They were however stunned as the governorship hopeful shouted at them, saying he was not at the venue to grant press interviews.
He was not helped by his supporters who also claimed they were not at the screening exercise to grant press interviews.
One of them was heard by our credible source also shouting on the pressmen to keep their distance, as their principal was not ready for any press interviews.
It would be recalled how Senator Ademola Adeleke had severally turned down requests by numerous broadcast media houses to feature on their programmes.
A popular example was during the 2018 governorship debates hosted by the BBC and Channels Television where he was deliberately absent.

Did Dele Adeleke lie on Channels TV?

By Adebayo Adedeji

"Osun had the highest Debt Per Capital in Nigeria in 2020." was Dele Adeleke's claim on Channels TV's Politics Today on 10th January, 2022. Kindly watch the interview from 11.25 minutes to get Dele's actual words.

However, a Fact-Check has contradicted the claim of the Osun Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial ticket hopeful.

Fact-Check: Dele Adeleke lied about his claim of Osun, with N32,710 Debt per Capita, being the state with the highest Debt Per Capita in the country in 2020.

Available information on the websites of National Bureau of Statistics, Debt Management Office and BudgIT, indicate Osun State under Governor Oyetola has fared better than many states in debt management as it services its debt repayment regularly and has not accumulated additional debt since Oyetola's assumption as governor.

Below shows the Debt Per Capita of States ranked worse than Osun in 2020:

1. Lagos - N73,136
2. Bayelsa - N65,695
3. Cross River - N54,425
4. Delta - N42,263
5. Edo - N39,694
6. Akwa Ibom - N39,648
7. Rivers - N36,291
8. Ekiti - N33,457
9. Taraba - N33,085.

One asks: What was Dele Adeleke's intention for weaponising data against the State he is struggling and fantasising of governing?

What prompted Dele Adeleke to curate wilful misinformation against his land of birth?

Why should Dele be trusted with governance and government of Osun State when he has not conducted himself differently from other politicians who are known for telling lies for the purpose of having political leverage?

A social affairs commentator, nay a political leader, is respected not only because of the elevation of his language and enchantement of his scholarship, but respected because of the sanctity and integrity of his data and relevance of the context in which the data is deployed. When these conditions are not met, the commentator's or leader's credentials as a genuine and sincere interventionist are shaded and cast in doubts and eternal opprobrium.

Dele Adeleke should apologise to the entire people of Osun if truly his mendacious claim on Channels TV on 10/01/2022 was an innocent mistake. His "apology" will validate his readiness and avowal to be a truthful, sincere and different leader from the list. History beckons.

Useless underperforming gorvenor, infact he's failure inpersonified. I wish Aregebesola has a 3rd term. Adeleke will beat him this time around.
Pensioners he didn't pay after making promises, teachers he didn't employ. He cannot go and learn at the feet of other APC performing gorvenors in their states.
Why starting your new year with shameless lies?

Since November 2018 that he became governor, Oyetola has committed over N40 billion in settling pension and gratuity commitment. No governor, left for Lagos governor, has such a fantastic record. This is one of the reasons the Nigerian Union of Pensioners endorsed his re-election bid. Oyetola has demonstrated his commitment to the welfare and plight of the civil servants and pensioners.

On the teachers recruitment, please find attached some of the pictures of newly recruited teachers in the state undergoing training. So it is not correct that the state has refused to employ teachers.

APC National Reconciliation Committee announces arrival to Osun, pays courtesy call on gov

...says it is for fair hearing, equity, justice

...as Oyetola assures utmost cooperation

The members of the National Reconciliation Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have announced their arrival to Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State, as part of efforts to begin the reconciliatory process and ensure the resolution of every contentious issue among members of the party in the State.

The Committee paid a courtesy visit on Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the State at the Government House, Osogbo, in line with the party's tradition and port of call to announce their presence and purpose of visiting the State.

This is even as Governor Adegboyega Oyetola assured the committee of maximum cooperation and support to the Committee.

The Committee, led by a former Governor of Nasarawa State, Sen. Abdulahi Adamu, disclosed their readiness to ensure fair hearing, equity and justice in carrying out their official exercise in the State.

Speaking during the courtesy call, the Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Abdulahi Adamu, said members of the party have come to attend to palpable contentious matters, treat petitions and elicit responses after which their report would be made in line with the directive of the authority of the party at the national level.

He said the Committee would be attending to petitions vis-a-vis complaints from the members of the party before coming up with its findings.

"I want to thank Mr. Governor for personally being available to receive us. We are the committee appointed and inaugurated sometimes in November last year to serve as members of the reconciliatory committee on issues that border on relationship and institutional matters.

"We have done much on the northern states and we started that of Southwest on Thursday in Lagos. Yesterday, we were in Ogun State, and today, we are in Osogbo, the Osun State capital city.

"As a matter of tradition and respect, when we go to a State like this, where our party is in power, we owe it a duty to pay courtesy on the Governor, because here (Government House) is our home, to announce and inform him we are in his land. That is what brought us here. After this, it is our intention to see what efforts had been made on those who petitioned. If they are identifiable, we want to meet with them.

"After meeting them, we will come back to our home to meet the Governor and our party so that if there is any allegation or accusation from the petition received, and after listening to the petitioners, we will listen to the responses in order to ensure fair hearing from all the parties involved.

"Our intention here is to maximize the opportunity of getting evaluation of relevant materials after which we will go to Abuja and sit as a committee and develop what we have in the report, which we will share with the authority of the party at the national level that appointed us.

"That is what we are here for. Once again, we appreciate the solidarity and love you have shown to receive us. It is our hope that we will have the cooperation to succeed from you, the government and, of course, our genuine party members", he added.

In his response, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola assured the Committee of his Administration's absolute cooperation and support to carry out the exercise.

He expressed confidence in the composition and ability of the members of the Committee to dispense justice and ensure fair play throughout the exercise.

"I appreciate this visit and I thank you most sincerely for taking the trouble to come to us. No organization without issues, but what is important is to find possible way of reconciliation.

"We will give you all the support, you will have the maximum cooperation expected of us. I welcome the idea of accepting petitions and finding solutions to all contentious issues.

"We are peaceful people. Looking at the caliber of people that are involved in the Committee, I have no doubt that reconciliation is possible. The Chairman of the Committee had done so well when he served as Nasarawa Governor, ditto the other Governors in the Committee as well as other members of the Committee.

"On our part, we are willing to give you all necessary support to make this a success. I hope you will enjoy the hospitality of our State. By any standard, we have not disappointed the party. Within the little we have, we have justified the confidence reposed in us", Oyetola added.

Politics › Has Aregbesola Failed As Minister? by Okerenla(op): 9:49pm On Jan 06, 2022
Has Aregbesola failed as minister?

By Ezekiel Adeniran

"It seems every agency under Aregbesola is lacklustre. Honestly, I am worried all Agencies under him are having issues."

Above were the words of a prominent Ijesha indigene, a former permanent secretary in the employ of Osun State government, some days ago when this writer telephoned to felicitate him on the birth of his grand-child. The statesman shared his displeasure concerning the leadership style Rauf Aregbesola, a fellow Ijesha, has put up since August 2019 when he was named the Minister of Interior.

Aregbesola is the political head of four key agencies viz: Nigerian Correctional ( Prisons) Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. Regrettably, none of these agencies is inspiring, performance-wise.

BusinessDay's report of 16th December 2021 chronicled how obtaining a Nigerian travel passport has become a cesspool and an avenue for many Nigerian Immigration Service officials to peculate innocent citizens. The service of the agency has been marred by scarcity, racketeering and frivolous activities by some of the officials who have become irritatingly emboldened and now operate unrestrained because the leadership of the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, nay Ministry of Interior, have failed to rein them in.

In the words of a passport applicant, according to the report, "The first time I came for an international passport, I was asked to pay extra N20,000 and another N10,000; the exploitation was much; so, I just couldn’t go on."

Similar accounts, as above, abound.

Again, because of the leadership failure of Aregbesola and officers in the top echelon of the NIS, Nigerians have continued to face hardship in trying to renew or acquire the Nigeria’s passport booklets. So to address the problem of scarcity of travel passport in Nigeria, Aregbesola, in May this year, introduced a policy of decentralising passport issuance in the 774 local government areas in the country. The process started with inauguration of Passports Express Centre at Maitama District, Abuja. Passports, boasted the minister, would be available within 24 hours nationwide under the new Maitama Passport Express Centre (MPEC). But how effective this policy has been is yet to be seen because applicants still experience difficulties in obtaining their passports. Strangely, the Service continues to offer excuses to cover its failure. To the officials, the scarcity has been as a result of foreign exchange problem and of failure of applicants to follow due process!

Meanwhile, the passport scarcity is not peculiar to Nigeria-based applicants; their compatriots in foreign lands experience similar challenge. The PM News of 12th November 2021 quoted a Germany-based Victor Ojeabulu, Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Network, appealing to the Government of Nigeria to make passport booklets available because "many Nigerians were going through hell." According to him, women, in particular, were finding it difficult to get passports for their children.

The story is the same for Nigerians in Italy: they groan under the hardship the scarcity of passports has caused them. According to George Omo-Iduhon, "About 1.5 million Nigerians in Italy don’t have passports, even some of those that have been accepted by the Italian government have not been issued Nigerian passports which makes it difficult for them to work."

Omo-Iduhon, Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation, Europe (NIDO-Europe), Italy Chapter, spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday, 27th December, 2021.

The Federal Fire Service, FFS, is another agency under the leadership of Aregbesola that is poorly run. A popular media personality, Toke Makinwa, once shared her experience with the Service after she placed an emergency call to its men over a fire incident in her house. Makinwa took to her Twitter page to express her disappointment after they showed up almost 20 hours late to the spot of the incident!

The Service provides shoddy job to Nigerians in spite its huge yearly allocation. Since assumption of office in 2015, the Buhari government has procured 141 modern fire-fighting trucks. The FFS could only boast of three rickety fire fighting trucks before this period. The previous interior ministers in the government of Buhari also saw to the increase in the staff strength of the fire-fighters from 600 to about 6,000. However, to what extent has the country beniftted from her investment in the fire service? For example in Q2 of 2021, the FFS received 638 distress calls in which 27 lives were lost and property estimated at N3 trillion destroyed. The performance statistics is unenticing.

Despite that, rather than setting his priority, Aregbesola insists on throwing himself around, revelling in absurdities and showmanship, including pushing for a legislation granting firefighters the power to bear arms to protect the firefighters from mob attacks. . . .

The other time also, the minister was reported to have left his base in Abuja for Taraba to commission just ONE truck meant for the Federal Fire Service. Abuja to Taraba, a trip of 568km, will take close to 10 hours by road. The minister, no doubt, would have lost quality hours, that would have been invested in resolving numerous challenges facing the ministry, owing to his poor judgement and lack of coordination.

Further, the minister, this November, was storied to have travelled to the United Kingdom to launch a new e-passport, an event that did not require his physical presence or that could have been conducted via Zoom.

Aregbesola, in the name of always wanting to be in the news, and perhaps for love of out-station allowance and estacodes, each day slides to vacuity. He is more concerned about optics and petty politics than result and profundity. Under him as the supervising minister for the Federal Fire Service, the performance of the Service remains an embarrassment to the administration of President Buhari.

Whereas the situation in the Fire Service is worrisome, it is more worrisome in the Civil Defence and the Correctional Service. In the last 12 months alone, at least 15 jailbreak incidents have been recorded. The fallout of the jailbreaks is that over 4,000 inmates are currently out of custody, a situation that has heightened the crime rate in the country. Imo governor, Hope Uzodimma said, "The evidence of activities of escaped inmates is manifested in what happened at Izombe community, where one of those who confronted the military was an escapee from Owerri Prisons."

Sadly, men of the Civil Defence who should provide security in and around our prisons nowadays work as errand boys for political devotees of the minister. If the civil defence officers are not found manning properties and business premises linked to Aregbesola's men in Osogbo or Ile-Ife, they are found running after pick-pockets and scoundrels for stealing goats, fowl and locally-bred dogs in Abakaliki, Zungeru or Mokwa.

Aregbesola, obviously, has failed to provide the needed leadership to the agencies under his care, hence the citizens' continued calls for his removal as Minister of Interior so the country will not go further into abyss on the account of his cluelessness.

Politics › Oyetola's Strength And Place In Iwoland: Response To Semiu Okanlawon's Blackmail by Okerenla(op): 5:18pm On Dec 29, 2021
*RE: Oyetola and the Ao m'erin j'oba choristers.*

Response to Semiu Okanlawon's Blackmail

By Amidu Tadese, PhD.

On June 16, 2016, one of Nigeria's leading news outlets, Vanguard newspaper published a report titled "Osun School Uniform Crisis: Religious battle enters physical, spiritual realm." The report captured the face-off that ensued between Christian and Muslim leaders as a result of uniform crisis. According to the newspaper, "... the timely intervention of Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Adewale Akanbi, saved what could have snowballed into major religious crisis as some Christian students of Baptist High School, Adeeke, Iwo for the second day appeared in church robes to attend classes for the day."

Inane news as the above was what characterised the tenure of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, because people were daily regalled with stories of how students would appear in schools in church robes and masquerade regalia in an attempt to register their religious identities. Such scenes were prevalent in our dear Iwoland that time because of the religious peculiarity of the town. The obvious civil disobedience was the direct reaction to that government's unfriendly policy in the education sector. Graciously, such absurdities have since become history with the assumption into office of Governor Gboyega Oyetola. The policy rejig of this administration has sufficiently addressed some of the hitherto anomalies in the education sector.

So one would wonder why affiliates of the defunct government would make disingenuous endeavour to recast events of our immediate past to awe activities of the present just to earn cheap political leverage. Many of the active participants in the rested regime, who have refused to move on, continue to curate lies and make excuses for failings of their government. One of them is an Iwo-born political spin writer, Semiu Okanlawon who was a Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to former Governor Aregbesola.

Okanlawon's latest allegorical piece aimed at demarketing the electoral values of Governor Oyetola and his men in Iwoland, caught my attention. My current intervention is to address some of the unsavoury remarks contained in his opinion, particularly where he talked about his December 2019 meeting with Governor Oyetola, his storied 45-minute conversation with a cabinet member from Iwo, and events of this year's Iwo Day where he alleged the Governor was shooed off.

First: Whereas the writer had revelled his readers with tales of how, during his encounter in December 2019, he advised the governor against policy somersaults and importance of continuing with projects of his predecessor; expectedly, he failed to mention that his meeting with Governor Oyetola was actually self-serving, planned to warm himself to the heart of the governor for a media job he desperately needs and payment of his unpaid emoluments while working for Aregbesola. No need to go into further details of his pitch on that day. Okanlawon's conscience well houses the detail and he should be left to live with it.

On his claimed conversation with a cabinet member from Iwo who, he said, expressed fear about the capacity of the governor to guarantee electoral fortune for the party in next year's election, the writer, no doubt, is living up to the billing of a master maligner and an irritating fabulist and blackmailer. On the strength of plausibility and reasonableness, can any supporter, much more a cabinet member, of Oyetola, tell a trusted ally of Aregbesola, that Okanlawon is, that " Governor yi o le win election bayi?' Can any naive politician, let alone politicans of standing of those that make up Oyetola's cabinet, say that to a known adversary of their government?

I have an idea that the cabinet member mentioned by the author is me. The description seated well on me. Of the cabinet members from Iwo, only myself addresses Okanlawon as "Semiu." The other cabinet member, out of respect for him on the account of age difference, does not call him by his first name. So it is imperative I address the issue the way I understand it.

Around September this year, there was a quick tete-a-tete between myself and Semiu Okanlawon. The meeting point was Mogaji's farm in Asamu on Osogbo/Iwo Road. After the exchange of greetings, the first question I asked him was the reason for his continued absence from our local stakeholders' meetings and his non-participation at the then ongoing Party Congress. His simple reply that day was, "Your people didn't want me in your midst." I said "how?". He then complained of being owed by the State Government and I promised to speak with my principal on his behalf. I am surprised about his erroneous claims that I demanded ways and manners by which the crisis within the party could be managed and by extension how to broker a truce between the two principals: Oyetola and Aregbesola.

Contrary to the claim of Okanlawon, there was no time I told him the governor, appointee of whom I am, would not win his re-election sans the former governor and his lieutenants. Nothing in my remarks or discussion with him was expressive or suggestive of his claim. It is a blatant and shameful blackmail to wedge relationship and cause disaffection in the cabinet. The statement, absolutely, is a figment of the imagination of the author. It is like one of those lies often told by him to defend the inadaquacies of their government. I reiterate: there was never a point during our conversation where I said that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola could not win re-election. It would be absurd and highly disgusting that I would disparage the personality of the Governor and Government that I am genuinely serving and sworn to preserve its integrity.

Every responsible person should take Okanlawon's statement with a pinch of salt for that is what it is worth. Every team member of Oyetola government is working assiduously and confidently to ensure our hardworking Principal wins a re-election so as for him to consolidate on the developmental projects and programmes he has initiated in the State.

The government of Oyetola is etching his name in Iwo through various laudable projects he is imprinting in the ancient land. As big and important Iwo is, we only have a Federal College of Education that was facilitated by Oyetola's Administration. Not only that. It now takes forty-five minutes to drive from Iwo to Osogbo and vice versa; whereas up to the tail end of 2018, it was highly suicidal attempting to drive to Osogbo from Iwo through this road. We either chose to drive first to Gbongan, in Ayedaade Local Government or through Ibadan to Ikire, Gbongan.

Governor Oyetola has started the Lawyer Atanda road project. The construction of Odoori to Adeeke road and two other major roads in the city is also in the pipeline.

The contract for rehabilitation of the Dam at Iwo Water Works, which was established in 1952, has since been awarded by Oyetola's administration.

No matter how hard Okanlawon try to burnish the image of his benefactor, it will not change the fact that Aregbesola has no imprints in Iwo beyond the strife and religious animosity. It is on record that the road project he struggles to attach to his name was done by Kamorudeen Alao’s local government administration. Where was Okanlanwo when his principal, for eight years in office, shunned all entreaties to fix the deplorable Osogbo-Iwo road? Where was he when the government he served refused to finish the mega school in Iwo even when ten others were completed in other towns? Was Reality Radio-Vision Service in Iwo not in shambles before Oyetola set up a Revitalisation Committee in February 2019, just three months into the life of his administration, to re-engineer and reposition the station to achieve its objectives in the 21st century broadcasting world where quality service is hallmark? Even as a media practitioner, was Okanlanwo not part of a band of rabble rousers and hallelujah boys of the government that rationalised the inability of the government to embark on the project? What was the condition of the General Hospital in Iwo during Aregbesola's administration? Terrible !

Oyetola has become a household name in Iwo. The warm reception accorded him at this year's Iwo Odidere Day validated this claim. The governor was the cynosure of all eyes who, deservedly though, stole the show from political almajiris and scavengers lined up by his detractors to impugn his honour. What more honour can be conferred on a guest than an endorsement of a paramount ruler of the town? Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu 1, did not withhold his admiration for the governor on the particular day. Oluwo showered encomiums on Oyetola and commended him for prudently managing the meagre resources of the State.

According to the traditional ruler, "Oyetola is doing excellently well. Oyetola is doing wonders and great things as in the prompt payment of full salaries and pensions among other socio-economic and infrastructural developments."

The honour received by Oyetola in Iwo was grande. It was so grande that he left some of the leading critics of his government no other option than to pay the traditional obeisance to him. People have seen videos and pictures of how Alhaji Moshood Adeoti and Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile, arrowheads of warring group in Osun APC, embraced the governor on that day. So, nobody should be left in doubt about the respect and popularity IleriOluwa enjoys in the homestead of the progressives. Only embittered minds would want to foist on the people the narration of handful scoundrels mobilised and sponsored by rebellious and spent forces in the State. The video referenced by Semiu Okanlawon as evidence of nerdiness of the governor in Iwo was a hatchet job by the disgruntled minority aimed at embarrassing a raving governor. The Governor's achievements in the last 36 months will speak loudly for him at the poll in Iwo and in the entire state come July 2022.

I know the writer has been a bit away from home, hence the reason for his jaundiced opinion about the chances of the governor in the coming election. For example in lwo East LCDA from where both of us come, Oyetola is a candidate to beat. Specifically, Isale Oba Ward 1, which is Semiu's acclaimed political base, is a stronghold of IleriOluwa. And membership keeps increasing daily. The current Chairman of the ward also served as the chairman during Aregbesola's administration. This is contrary to lies that Oyetola tweaked the structure of the party to displace Aregbesola's loyalists.

Aburo mi is well aware that ota eni ki pa odu oya. ( one's enemy never appreciates one's achievement). Unless the entire World is convinced that the only RED PEN available during Ogbeni Aregbesola's administration was ever used by Mr Gboyega Oyetola, can the failure of that period be tied to our administration's neck. The performance of the present administration, in view of the paucity of fund at its disposal, is an opportunity for us all to heal the wounds of the past. The so called anti-Aregbesola sentiment is unnecessary and negative diversion. Omo osan lo n ko ponporo ba iya re (a bad ward brings disgrace to his parents). Osun State is too enlightened and highly educated to be taken for a ride, please. I strongly advise you stop the insults.

Finally, I will advise the writer to desist from such ignoble act and focus on his ethical profession which harps on nothing but the reporting of the absolute truth, not distorted account capable of misinforming and misleading the public.

Iwo people are appreciative of the Oyetola government's stride in drawing enduring legacy to our land. They appreciate Governor Oyetola. They acknowledge his commitment towards the development and growth of Iwo. And by that strand, they shall reciprocate his effort with unalloyed support at the poll next year.

lies here. Not true at all.
What are lies here? That Oyetola does not provide 30,000 citizens 5kg of food every month?

Check the pictures. Pictures don't lie.

Same thing some thought of Obaseki, very rare before an incumbent loses re election, Osun isn’t Oyo State, Oyetola is Bola Tinubu’s candidate, case closed.
Oyetola has done what should hand him a return ticket.

see this clueless poster here, so it’s 1kg of wheat Oyetola is distributing that will make the voters votes for Igbin iragbiji abi. You are only deceiving yourself and your paymaster here. Oyetola alias Igbin iragbiji is a goner. No form of lies and propaganda will make the voters cast their votes for him. Besides he won’t be votes in as the Apc flag bearer in Osun State.
Point of correction: Each beneficiary of Osun Food Support Scheme goes home with 5kg of rice, or Semo, or wheat every month. 30,000 people per month.

" The 2015 elections in Oyo and Ogun are testaments to political reality that voters make big names in politics, not other way round. Big names are not made in vacuum.
