Some say it’s nothing. Others believe it’s a message from heaven on a big day for the Roman Catholic Church.

Just hours after Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio made his first appearance as Pope Francis at the Vatican, Florida resident Jodi Guthrie snapped a photo of a stunning cloud shaped like an angel hovering in the sky over Royal Palm Beach.

The photo, which was first posted by WPTV, quickly went viral as others who spotted the cloud also sent in their own images. Another stunning angle was posted by WFLX weatherman Steve Weagle.

“The Pope asked to pray for him,” commented Facebooker Cat Sunn. “God answered.”

Not everyone was convinced the cloud was an angel.

“Cool pic,” wrote Kelly Handy on WPTV’s Facebook page, “but it looks a little too much like the Mothman for my liking.”

“I just thought it was beautiful,” Guthrie told HuffPost.

A cloud shaped like an angel was also reported after the deadly mass shooting at a Batman movie screening in Aurora, Colorado, last July.

A Chinese farm admitted to dumping dead pigs into Huangpu River, which had about 6,000 bloated carcasses pulled from its water this week, state media reported.

The labels in the ears of the pigs indicated Jiaxing City as their birthplace, according to Xinhua, the Chinese state-run news agency. The city is south of Shanghai, in the Zhejiang Province.

Earlier, local Chinese media had suggested the dead pigs had come from the area with local officials blaming dumping on “local pig farmers who lack awareness of laws and regulations.”

The city’s government said a total of 70,000 pigs died from “crude raising techniques and extreme weather” at the beginning of the year, according to Xinhua. But it also insisted that the collected corpses were disposed safely.

The selling of diseased pigs appears to be a bigger problem in the area as on Wednesday, a court in Zhejiang Province, issued prison sentences for 46 people convicted of selling meat from diseased pigs, Xinhua said.

The sentences ranged from six months to 6 and a half years in prison, the report said.

Sanitation workers, clad in masks and plastic suits, have been fishing the bruised pig bodies surfacing in the Huangpu River. The pink, decomposing blobs have wreaked foul odors and alarmed residents.

“There were dead pigs all around and they really stunk,” one local resident told CNN. “Of course, we’re worried, but what can you do about it? It’s water that we have to drink and use.”



If the water treatment process is very effective and can handle the sudden glut of contaminants, it’s possible to minimize the impact, said Julian Fyfe, a senior research consultant specializing in water quality at the University of Technology Sydney.

However, “most treatment plants would not be designed to accommodate that level of shock loading. It’s such an unusual event,” he added.

Fyfe spoke in general terms about water quality issues, as he is not involved with Shanghai’s water treatment.

“If they are chlorinating heavily, which a lot of places may do, especially if they’ve got a very polluted water body to start with, then the effects could potentially be small,” Fyfe said.

Pig corpses that have been in the water for days would leak blood, intestinal fluids and other pollutants, which could alter the taste and color of tap water.

Many residents have begun drinking bottled water due to fears of contamination, according to the Global Times, a Chinese newspaper.

Twin sisters believed to be Amsterdam’s oldest prostitutes have retired after more than 50 years each in the sex trade.

Louise and Martine Fokkens, 70, have finally decided they are too old for the business after claiming to have slept with 355,000 men between them in a combined 100-year career.

Louise, a mother of four, has said her arthritis now makes some sexual positions ‘too painful’.

And mother-of-three Martine admits she is finding it hard to attract new punters – except one elderly man who still comes for his weekly sado-maschism session.

She said: “I couldn’t give him up. He’s been coming to me for so long it’s like going to church on a Sunday.”

The pair were the subject of a documentary film last year called Meet the Fokkens, and have now written a book about their combined 100-years of sexual exploits called The Ladies of Amsterdam.

Both women – who usually dress in identical red clothes – became prostitutes before the age of 20 to survive financially after escaping violent relationships.

They now look back on the ‘golden years’ of the profession before the Netherlands legalised prostitution and the sex trade was invaded by ‘eastern European mafia’.

Louise said: “It is very different now. We used to sit in the windows with clothes on. Today they are totally naked.

“There are few Dutch women and no sense of community these days.”


Martine added: “The legalisation of brothels in 2000 has not improved prostitutes’ lives.

“There is no point working just for tax. That is why the girls are working from the internet and from home – you are less likely to be spotted by the taxman.

“It is better for the pimps and the foreigners, but not for the Dutch girls.”

Martine and Louise said they now hoped to be able to live off their earnings from the book and film rights.

The world’s oldest men, 128-year-old Julius Wanyondu Gatonga, lives in Kenya with his 89-year old wife Beth Wanjiru.

Gatonga’s ID card shows him to be 128 years old.

Now he is being denied health care because of his age.

According to the Kenyan National Hospital Insurance Fund Gatonga is deemed too old for their computer system, since his ID indicates that he was born in 1884, the computer system only accept birth dates from 1890.

For this reason, he cannot be covered by Kenyan National Hospital Insurance. His age is beyond the Kenyan National Hospital Insurance computer system, so his application to be a member was rejected due to his age.

Family members do not know why this was happening. “This is unbelievable and unacceptable, we are urging the authorities to consider his case and do something about it, he is our father, we love him, no matter what his age, he deserves to be taken care of,” Gatonga’s son said.

“The man has been regarded as being too old for the computer, despite the company’s claim that there is no age limit with the fund, and that is not right,” Kenyan National Hospital Insurance agent, John Macharia said.

For now a privet insurance company gave him medical insurance but only for one year.

The lady popularly called Asake, who runs a well known pub called Asake at Joel Ogunnaike is dead. The beautiful woman died at the emergency section of Ikeja General Hospital late two nights back at about 9pm.

Though, the lady was said to have had series of attack spiritually and otherwise, her skin, which was bleached to her veins, couldn’t have extended her life span.

Information has it that Asake, who started bedridden months ago, was said to have died of stroke though, another section of the report has it that it’s not just stroke but the deadly and the globally fearful ailment.

Returnee Nigeria striker, Obafemi Martins, has finally moved to the Major League Soccer. The former Inter Milan player joined Seattle Sounders on Monday after the United States club paid for the buyout clause in his contract with Levante of Spain.

The final stage of the move which began about a month ago was made public by the Spanish side. The report on Levante’s official website said that a club in the Major League Soccer in the US., Seattle Sounders, have paid the striker’s buyout clause of €3m.

Martins confirmed the move himself afterwards via Twitter

He tweeted, “Wow…Finally, I can now announce that I have just signed for Sounders FC…A big step to take in my career. It’s a big challenge but I’m ready.

RAMALLAH, Palestinian Territories (AFP) – US President Barack Obama will visit the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, where Christians believe Jesus was born, when he visits the region next week, Palestinian sources said.

The Palestinian Authority was officially informed by US authorities that Obama would travel to Bethlehem in the Israeli-occupied West Bank to visit the site where Christians believe Mary gave birth to Jesus in a stable, the sources said.

Obama begins a three-day visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories on March 20, Israel said on Sunday, in the first official announcement of the much-anticipated visit — his first as president.

He will hold talks with Israeli officials in Jerusalem and travel to Ramallah in the West Bank, seat of the Palestinian Authority, and Bethlehem on March 21.

On June 29 the UN cultural body UNESCO overrode Israeli objections to urgently grant world heritage status to the Church of the Nativity.

UNESCO’s 13-6 secret vote to add the Church of the Nativity and its pilgrimage route to the prestigious list was received with a round of rousing applause and a celebratory fist pump by the beaming head of the Palestinian delegation, and deep disappointment from Israeli ally Washington.

The US delegation to UNESCO said at the time that it was “profoundly disappointed,” while stressing that “this body should not be politicised.”
