PoliticsRe: Allocation: Governors Lobby Tinubu To Block Direct Payment To LG by Olaa112: 2:58pm On Mar 17, 2025
Stolen:
ALL THIS IS TINUBU AND WIKE ARRANGEMENT BECAUSE OF FUABARA AND RIVERS STATE.

WIKE STILL WANT TO ACCESS RIVERS STATE FUND EVEN AFTER HE HAS LEFT OFFICE AS GOVERNOR.

Federalism no go work well if local government no get autonomy. LG na the closest government to the people, so e suppose get power to manage im own money and run im affairs without state government wahala. If states dey collect LG allocation, na dem go chop am finish, local development go suffer, and the people no go see better governance. True democracy mean make every level of government get im own freedom to operate.

Make federal government do the right thing and send money straight to LG accounts. If LGs get their funds directly, e go stop state governors from dey control dem like puppets. This one go bring transparency, development, and better life for people wey dey grassroots. If we say we dey practice federalism, make we practice am well, no be half-half!

THERE IS NO REASON FOR DIRCET PAYMENT BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

THE MONEY WILL BE LOOTED AT LOCAL LEVEL.

THE STATES EMBARK ON CAPITAL PROJECT THAT BENEFITS EVERYBODY SUCH AS AIRPORT AND CO.
PoliticsRe: Please What's Really Difficult For Government To Go Farm. by Olaa112: 7:47am On Aug 03, 2024
Government is ideally not suited for direct agricultural production.
1. Corruption - Nigeria is a very corrupt country which attendant inefficiency and diversion of resources. It translates into inflated and increased costs of production.
2. Bureacracy - Farming is time bound and averse to government bureacracy or red tape. For farming to be sustainable, you need to do the right things at the right time.
3. Politics - Nigeria leaders have always used agricultural goods such as fertilizer etc to favour their political supporters who may end up selling the items instead of putting it to productive use.
4. Policy - Government have not been able to formulate and implement comprehensive that adequately address the constraints of farmers.
Mostly wasteful empowerment programs done for political patronage.

However, government can venture into farming indirectly by creatingenabling environment and supporting PPP, and farmers cooperatives and individuals.

1. PPP - Partner with companies or organizations with proven capacity in farming. Especially, mechanized agriculture to boost yield and enable profit.
2. Research - Government has to adequately fund research to address farming constraints.
3. Agric Extension - To bring useful research findings to farmers, agric extension needs to be properly funded.
4. Policies - Government has to formulate and implement sound economic policies to enable sustainable production and food security.

If countries like Israel with arid desert land can be producing enough for it's population and even export, I don't see why Nigeria cannot.
It boils down to leadership and utilization of resources.

NorthernAgender:
We have land abundantly that can grow crops in the different area . Why government can't just go farm and employ able youths pay them handsomely.

What's really wrong with this black leaders.
PoliticsRe: Consider States Peculiarities In Deciding New Minimum Wage, NGF Urges Committee by Olaa112: 5:52am On Mar 22, 2024
The concept of minimum wage in a country is different from what you've stated. It is aimed at improving standing of living, ensure economic stability in view of prevailing economic realities and poor purchasing power of wages. Nigeria has one of lowest minimum wage in West Africa despite the huge resources that is pilfered and diverted to personal use instead of the good of the country. States that can afford it should pay higher than the Federal minimum wage, but it should not only be for Federal Workers.
na2016:
You don't know what you are saying. The minimum wage needs to be increased and the Federal government needs to be pressured to do things that will reduce inflation/exchange rate. Also, the minimum wages can now be based on states for state workers and private sectors in such states while we also have a national minimum wage for FG worker
