You have made solid points but it's practically difficult to play front foot football against teams that play really well from the back especially if they have a goalie that passes like a MF. Liverpool suffered the same problem against Brighton. The best thing is to press them once they progress out of the back, else they will pick you out.

Center backs always have the most ball possession and passes. It's nothing new.

When the defenders and DM are responsible for close to 40% of passes, you gave an idea of how useful the possession was. Hope you know that possession stat is highly related to number of passes.

What's the use of all the possession if they only had 1 shot on target with XG of 0.5 ??

Brighton is a system team, we should learn from how Kukuruku and Bissouma have both been ordinary since they left. Stay away from Brighton players. Plus we have a shit ton of wingers, we should be looking at a proper CF, CM to battle with Eriksen, a young CB with a high ceiling and a young DM to learn and in future take over from Case.

Brighton model does not work for top teams in a competitive league like the EPL with 8 bona-fide teams fighting for top 4. How and when are you going to blood guys like Mitoma, Ferguson, Caicedo. Those guys are error prone but need patience to improve.

Benching Martinez wasn't costly because he man-marked KDB, no crosses or dangerous balls to test Shaw and Varane's partnership.

Varane was immense today though, he got his head to a lot of crosses. The goal was as a result of AWB being overly cautious about the presence of Haaland, AWB went after Haaland forgetting that Grealish was his man.

Akanji did not make an effort to get to the ball. If he had attempted or made any effort towards the ball it would have been offside. Akanji was just jogging back thinking the officials will make the call.
