The Yorubas claim olukumi in faraway delta,they claim itsekiri,they claim the royalty of Benin.They forcefully try to claim Akoko-edo and Ogori.

Except the itsekiri and the olukumi who have verifiable Yoruba links ,the others have little or no link with the Yoruba originally except for recent yoruba naming convention of the Akoko-edo and Ogori.

But the problem is this,

Why do the Yorubas fail to claim an obvious group who speak a clear yoruboid language- IGALA.

I have never heard any statement from prominent Yoruba proponents incorporating the igala into Yoruba identity.

The igala in my opinion are strongly related to the okun Yoruba and oworo.

The igala claim a borno/ jukun origin,with relations with the kanuri.

There are claims by some Yoruba historians that the Yoruba are related to the kanuri also.

More research needs to be done on the igala Yoruba relationship.

I believe the igala will expose the false claims that Yorubas are from ile-ife.

It will expose the fallacy that the ogori, Akoko Edo and Benin royalty are from Yoruba.

The above groups do not speak any yoruboid dialect,but are forcefully labelled Yoruba by Yoruba proponents.

yet a group that speaks clear yoruboid language( the IGALA) is never labelled as Yoruba is it just because they don't bare common modern Yoruba names?
