UK company Talking Drum Entertainment Ltd the people behind distributing such films as Wedding Party, King of Boys and Last Flight to Abuja have taken legal action against music producer Kani-Ayo Nwanze, also known as KaniBeatz, by filing a lawsuit at the High Court in London. They are seeking the release of their highly anticipated music soundtrack currently in his possession and want huge damages for breach of contract and trust.

The multi-million-pound debut film by Hakeem Kae-Kazim, “It’s the Blackness,” https://itstheblackness.com/ which stars Dolapo Oni, Kalu Ikeagwu Daniel Davids and Matthew James Morrison, was set to hit the UK Cinemas in September then Nigeria, South Africa and the United States. But the release has encountered a delay because KaniBeatz is, trying to pressure the company into paying him additional royalties mafia style.

Despite having agreed to the contract and being compensated appropriately, KaniBeatz has refused to release the soundtrack, after learning about a deal the company is negotiating with a major International music label and wants part of that money even though he is not entitled to it.

Talking Drum Entertainment developed all ten tracks, gave the struggling Producer the biggest opportunity & job of his career to collaborate with various artists on the beats only for him to pay them back in this manner and take food out of the mouths of over 100 people who have worked on the film which carries immense cultural and social importance for the Black community worldwide. This delay not only affects the company but also deprives the community of an important cultural film.

Given the seriousness of this matter, the company is actively pursuing legal action against KaniBeatz to protect their interests and ensure a swift resolution.

It’s almost here. Probably the most anticipated UK release for a Nollywood film to date. Tango with me is set go on general release in UK cinemas on 24 August, but you could see it early, lucky you!!
