The banks violated the TSA agreement and they should be made to face the wrought of the law. The price hike is the price the government will have to pay for doing the right thing and I think it is worth it. They will learn to take Nigeria serious next time; THE ERA OF IMPUNITY IS OVER.
Oga.. don't u think the banks can be fined just like NCC did for mtn, rather than banning them from transacting in FX which in-turn add salt to the already festered injury of Nigerians.

No body is saying the banks shouldn't be punished but the cluelessness of this administration is what had been and is still continue to bring hardship to Nigerians... They are so foolish..

Good decision. I believe our blood sucking monsters in the Northern Nigeria will read this news. Killing all the name of Prophet Mohammad PBUH is never part of Islam.
Even during the lives of our Noble prophet, he won so many souls in Islam with tolerance, love, hikmat and moheeza.

Our Northern Muslims brothers need to acquire the right knowledge about Islam and stop painting ISLAM black.

May the souls of the Zamfara victims rest in peace.

We are Muslim and not Terrorist.
I think few are just Muslims while others are Islamist...

The Muslims seeks cooperation, growth and development among fellows anywhere they are, they also separate government from religion. While the Islamist are bent on fulfilling the wishes of Allah in every way possible (force is not an exception), they disdain authorities and set themselves on a mission to bring everyone under the submission of Allah..

Both have Quran to back up their wish.. So who is the truest Muslims out of the two?

Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said Tuesday he does not want a “large Muslim community” and that each EU member should be able to choose how many migrants to accept.

“We don’t have a large Muslim community here,” Sobotka said of the estimated 10,000 to 20,000 Muslims who live in the Central European country of 10.5 million people.

“And to be honest, we don’t want a large Muslim community to form here, given the problems we’re seeing,” Sobotka told the Pravo daily.

Sobotka spoke ahead German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s visit to Prague on Thursday, saying their “views diverge” on how to solve Europe’s migrant crisis.

Merkel has urged countries to take in a greater share of refugees, while the Czech Republic staunchly opposes the contested EU quota system devised to distribute refugees across the bloc.

“I’ve been convinced since the start of the migration debate that the member states need to have sovereignty regarding the choice of the number of refugees (to welcome),” Sobotka said.

“It’s the national governments that ultimately have to ensure people’s security.”

The leftist premier however cautioned against casting refugees as terrorists.

“It’s not possible to put an equal sign between refugees and terrorists. But at the same time, it’s not possible to have the same approach as Germany last year, namely to authorise the influx of a huge number of people without any oversight,” he said.

Merkel will also on Thursday meet with Czech President Milos Zeman, who earlier this month said he opposed taking in any migrants at all.

He recently described Merkel’s migration policy – which saw Germany take in 1.1 million migrants and refugees last year – as “absurd”.

12Monkeys:
The Nigerian Army is filled to the brim with idi0ts

Rather than decllare 2 journalists wanted after they released Boko Haram latest video why not put them on tight surveillance to ascertain how they communicate with boko haram.

Obviously there is no effective military blockade in the war torn NE and it is clear that boko haram members can freely walk in and out of their captured zones without being intercepted.

And since the journalists where not visiting Sambisa forest to collect the latest video tapes from Boko Haram that means the journalists are in contact with boko haram sleeper cells far from the conflict zone and base of boko haram.

By declaring them wanted, the army has lost a very rare chance at unravelling and apprehending boko haram agents in our midst since the boko guys won't be contacting any of the journalists declared wanted by the army any time soon.

What they (Nigerian Army) ought to have done was to increase their surveillance on the journalists. Have 30 of their best intelligence officers closely monitoring and following the journalists 24/7 as eventually they would have picked up on who the journalists "sources" and boko facilitators are. They ought to have extended their surveillance to monitoring and tapping phone conversations and email correspondences of the journalists.

Now that opportunity is gone forever and with it the chance of unravelling the extent, scope and number of boko haram sleeper cells among us.

Daft dunces.

PoliticsWanted Man Asked To Go Home After Turning Himself In: Confused Nigeria Army by olafum1(op):
The Nigerian military asked a man it declared wanted to go home after he reported at one of its facilities in Borno State.
Ahmed Bolori, the coordinator of the Fa’ash Foundation and the Partnership Against Violent Extremism and resident of Maiduguri, was declared wanted alongside two others on Sunday.

The Nigerian Army in a statement said the three, which included journalist, Ahmad Salkida and Aisha Wakil, a lawyer, were declared wanted for their alleged ties to the Boko Haram sect.

The Army said the three refused to provide useful information to authorities despite having clear and unfettered access to the sect and also held them responsible for the Boko Haram video that was released on Sunday.
The video purportedly showed the Army conducting area bombardment of an unknown location where the abducted Chibok girls are kept, killing many of them in the process.

The Defence Headquarters denied killing the girls and said it was also analysing the video to establish its authenticity.
In a message released by Farooq Kperogi , a U.S.-based Nigerian journalism professor, Mr. Bolori reported at “the top military barracks in Maiduguri, waited for more than two hours, but there was no one to interrogate or arrest him.”

Mr. Kperogi posted the development on his Facebook page which he said was part of the conversation he had with Mr. Bolori.
Mr. Kperogi also attached a WhatsApp conversation in which Mr. Bolori could be seen discussing with an official of the Defence Military Intelligence about how and where he could turn himself in for interrogations.

Mr. Kperogi said Mr. Bolori was later told to “go home” after spending more than two hours waiting and making frantic calls to Army hierarchy to come and detain him, having been declared wanted.
The announcement by the Army declaring Messrs. Bolori, Salkida and Wakil wanted has triggered debates across the world.
The spokesperson for the Army, Sani Usman, could not be reached to comment for this story Monday morning. He did not answer or return calls made to him.

Read the full statement by Mr. Kperogi below:
It is now self-evident that no one in the highest reaches of governance and security enforcement in Nigeria is thinking. How can you declare people “wanted” when you haven’t even invited them for questioning–and they haven’t resisted your invitation? I just got off the phone with Ambassador Ahmed Umar Bolori, one of the people declared “wanted” by the Nigerian military.

He told me he called the Chief of Army Staff, the spokesperson of the Nigerian military who announced him “wanted,” and other top military officers and said he was at their beck and call and didn’t need to be declared “wanted” since he wasn’t in hiding.
He then went ahead and turned himself in at the top military barracks in Maiduguri, waited for more than two hours, but there was no one to interrogate or arrest him.

He called and texted the chief of army staff and the military spokesperson again and pleaded with them to send someone to detain, arrest, interrogate, or do whatever they wanted to do to him because he wanted to clear his name.
He was later told to go home and return the following day! They told a “wanted” man to go home and come back the next day! Can you believe that? First, he is personally known to the chief of army staff and to the military spokesman. These people also know his home in Maiduguri.

They know where to get him if they want to. Yet they declared him “wanted.” Is there any parallel to this level of puzzling incompetence in the world? Who declares people “wanted” without any interest in seeing, much less interrogating, them?

HealthThanks To PMB: Polio Now Officially Back In Nigeria by olafum1(op): 5:02pm On Aug 12, 2016
The federal government has confirmed two new cases of polio in Borno State, a development that has dealt a blow on Nigeria’s hope of being certified polio-free by July 2017.

The Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, announced on Thursday that two children in Jejere and Gwoza Local Government Areas of Borno State, had been affected by polio virus.

The new cases were detected during a surveillance of the North-East region by health officials, Mr. Adewole said.
Before this reemergence, Nigeria had not reported a polio case since July 24, 2014, the World Health Organisation said.
Barring the new cases, Nigeria was on track to be declared polio free on July 24, 2017. A country must not have any case for at least three years to be declared polio-free.

To avert spread of the virus, Mr. Adewole announced emergency measures, involving the dispatch of a response team to the North-East.
He disclosed that about five million children in four states across the North-East would receive immunisation.

“Our overriding priority right now is to rapidly boost immunity in the affected areas to ensure that no more children are affected by this terrible disease,” Mr. Adewole said.

“Local health officials with the support of partners including WHO and UNICEF are conducting detailed risk analysis to clearly ascertain the extent of circulation of the virus, and to assess overall levels of population immunity in order to guide the response.

“As an immediate response, about one million children are to be immunised in four local government areas in Borno State. Children in adjoining states of Yobe, Adamawa and Gombe will also be immunised bringing the number to about five million in the four states.”
