I agree with you on the Matt side but on the Lucy side it's a big no I think she was too strong headed and self willed not so much as spiritual, she saw the signs and chose to interpret them another way, most times God wouldn't force His will on us He gives us little signs here and there and expects us to pick up the signal how you interpret it is up to you! Sometimes it's just mercy that helps us and keeps us in track!
So thoughtful!... Really love your stand on this smiley

CONTD...

He felt bad. He felt terrible like a monster. For the past few hours, had been hell for both of them. He never imagined this was how it was going to turn out. Here was his wife, lucy crying her heart out for doing nothing but stand by him, refusing to be free of his presence in her life, when he couldn't wait to be rid of hers. Did he ever love her at all? He wasn't sure how to answer that question yet. He went to his wife lifted her to her feet and hugged her tenderly. She let him hug her, sobbing heavily, her slim frame racked by the silent sounds she made.

Lucy knew this was it for their marriage. She was forever dammed to die unfulfilled and unloved by any man for only death not divorce could free her from her vows. No paper could release her to find love elsewhere ever again not even with Logan, she could not risk eternal damnation just for happiness here on earth. That was how much she loved her God. It's so sad and actually ironic as she thought of it, to wait in obedience to God to have a taste of something and then to permanently be dammed never to taste it again with anyone else. If it wasn't so painful, she would actually be laughing.

Matt was glad that the sobbing was subsiding. He wanted to believe it was a good sign that Lucy was coming to terms with reality. Pulling apart slightly, he looked at her face, swollen from tears, and felt his heart pull at him from all sides, why was he doing this again? He found himself wondering if Beth was suddenly worth the effort. Beth was great in bed but would she also be a wife and mother to his kids.

Lucy made her decision there and then, for she realized looking around the lounge at the few details she'd missed when she stepped into lounge after seeing Logan off. Matt had made up his mind a long time ago, he already had his overnight bag packed meaning he was leaving her with or without her consent. She looked up at him again, wondering how her face must look by now, definitely not endearing but who cares, it's not like he'd noticed her all these years. Funny that she'd blamed herself all this while for the state of things only to realize that the only time she ever felt connected to her husband was just in the first few months of their marriage. She wondered if she hadn't gotten pregnant how different things would be, then deciding she didn't like this train of thought for she loved her kids dearly, she tuned her mind back to the present. Picking up the pen on the table she proceeded to sign the papers.

Matt was stunned at Lucy's change of heart. He thought she'd plead with him and cry again. Asking himself if he really wanted this after all, he watched as Lucy finished signing returned the papers back into the envelope and handed it to him, her face unreadable. Tell Beth well played, she won! Receiving the envelope from her hand he felt helpless, a part of him hadn't thought this through at all, he'd thought he would catch some secret act between her and Logan that would justify his actions but now he realized that the joke was on him. Reaching for his overnight bag, he said goodbye to his soon to be ex wife, told her he would have his lawyer speak to her and make sure she got half of everything. He promised he would be very generous to her and the kids, so long as she gave him access to them he pleaded. She nodded agreeing to that too. Confused at the turn of events, he turned around dazed and walked towards the door, slowly opening it; he stepped out and shut the door on his first marriage firmly. He stayed put at the door rooted to the spot reality hitting him, and only then did he hear the wails that came from inside the house.

Lucy realized that for her to be able to get over the events of the night, she needed to keep her behavior on the dignifying level. Finding the strength within her she'd made it through the last few minutes, but now with matt gone for good, she released the torrents of tears that were threatening to tear her insides apart, cursing the day that Elizabeth Morgan was born into this world. Calling upon her creator, who is the father of the fatherless to fight for her, and restore her marriage. Abba father! She cried deliver me from the judgment of this world, have I not served you in spirit and in truth, Jehovah arise and let my enemies be scattered, arise and restore my inheritance unto me. Praying and speaking in tongues through tears, she gave in eventually to the darkness of sleep that enveloped her.

Matt stayed outside the door for a while, thinking his actions through wondering if God could really answer those dangerous prayers that he'd heard Lucy pray. His heart began to beat faster, he realized suddenly that he was truly afraid of God especially now that Lucy had gone and reported him to Him. His phone rang, it was Beth

Hi sweetie her sexy voice greeted been awaiting your call for a while, how did it go?

Great he sighed, I've just left her now and I'm on my way to you. He answered tight lipped.

Wow! That was quick did you catch her doing something dirty with Logan she asked eagerly

Feeling suddenly protective of his wife he said to her I really don't think that's any of your business Beth, you wanted me to yourself now you do ,I hope you're happy now as I just caused the mother of my children so much needless pain, well see you soon, and with that he ended the call. Got into his jaguar and drove off, more confused that ever hoping Beth had some wonderful time planned out for the night for he needed to get his mind off a lot of things. Letting his thoughts dwell on that he drove off into the night.

Beth smiled shakingly as she put down the phone, her conversation with matt leaving her hesitatingly excited. She should be excited! She told herself this was what she wanted, maybe not so quickly she'd assumed the whole divorce thingy would take a while to drag out, from the time it would take Lucy to sign the papers to the settling process and then the final divorce.

But with what matt told her, the first part was speedily over, she now suddenly and truly had him to herself strings and all it was as if Lucy had chewed him and spat him out the first chance she got, leaving her with the leftovers, and she Elizabeth never needed leftovers when she could have the whole platter. Looking at the time 10.45pm matt would be here in 20 minutes assuming no traffic, and for the first time since the affair began Beth found herself suddenly uncomfortable.

CONTD...

Lucy smiled through the fear she felt inside, trying not to feel the regret she found herself feeling. Matt it doesn't matter any longer, we are married now and we have the kids to think, we can start afresh. After all my parents...

Your parents were aware of what they were getting into and it worked for them, but we are just realizing now six years in, that the fabric and foundation that this marriage was built upon was a lie.

That is not true she said outraged, 'the only liar here is you, the only guilty one here is you'.

Matt knew the time had finally come for the long awaited questions he knew were about to be thrown at him.

How long has it been going on? She asked suddenly needing answers

Matt sighed scared of Lucy's reaction.

How long matt? She demanded again her voice rising

Matt looked up pleadingly and replied about five and a half years.

Lucy felt like she'd just been slapped. If I heard you correctly matt, what you're saying is you started this affair before our first year anniversary.

He nodded dreading the next question

When exactly? She asked

When I went off shore?

Stunned as she gave in to the tears that were building up again, 'when I was pregnant and you decided it was too weird for you to have sex with me. You mean you went out and slept with... what's her name and who the is she? She shouted

Her name is Beth as in Elizabeth

She nodding for him to finish, feeling her brain tingle with a slight curiosity

Morgan. Elizabeth Morgan he finished.

Lucy's eyes widened in recognition, I know that name, I know that face, she declared looking at matt's sheepish expression, I know that woman, remembering how her ears were constantly filled with too much information about the sex with 'the boyfriend'. So matt was the boyfriend and she the obnoxious wife, I know that home wrecker. Suddenly she lunged at matt at the sofa, her hands doing as much damage as she could to any where she touched, she was so angry, she found herself hitting him at first and then hitting nothing, for matt was holding her two hands, waiting for her to calm down.

Looking into his eyes, she asked him why?

I'm sorry he said feeling really bad

You never gave me a chance matt, we never had a chance from the beginning. It's not fair matt, I don't deserve this from you. She started to cry again, feeling so angry at him for being stronger than her. She wanted to hit him over and over again, instead she decided he wasn't worth it and tried to stand up, and then something weird happened. As she stretched her left leg out to rise up since she had been sitting on matt with her knees, it got tangled on the sofa and as she struggled for balance, matt sat forward to hold her still. And they both found themselves in a close and suggestive intimate position, feeling repulsed Lucy instantly pushed him away, startling matt whose grip on her suddenly loosened. Lucy found herself falling backwards, screaming she held out her hand to matt, who grabbed but it was too late. They both fell to the ground, lucy flat on her back and matt right on top.

And then everything went still. This time Lucy decided to keep still, wishing the ground would open up, now she felt really humiliated. Matt lay on top of his wife, feeling himself suddenly aroused, the whole scuffle had gotten him excited and he refused to be embarrassed. Lucy once again found herself repulsed at the intimate position she and matt were in. Few weeks ago she would have been delighted at this but now she felt nothing and then out of concern for matt's ego she decided not to push him away but wait for him to make a move. Matt raised his head up on his hands and asked Lucy if she was okay?

She told him she was. Then he relaxed resting on his elbows, knowing that every move he made from here on was important. He looked down at his wife, wondering why he'd never felt this attracted to her before? God he had to be really crazy to be willing to lose someone as great as Lucy. Then a bulb came on in his head as he suddenly remembered Beth, instantly he stood up and helped Lucy up too.

Lucy felt oddly disappointed but she wasn't sure why. Either because she didn't get a chance to rebuff her husband's moves or because for a split second she actually got excited thinking about what could happen. She tried masking it up as matt was suddenly concerned over her well being and carefully looking her all over to see if she was hurt, she felt so touched by it all that she gave in to the tearful emotion welling up inside her.

She closed her eyes and imagined a world where it would have been perfectly natural for her to hold matt's head and kiss him, a world where she didn't have to be afraid of been cast aside when the phone rang. Opening her eyes she saw matt looking at her closely and felt that somehow he'd guess her thoughts. Feeling the prickling of the tears again she turned her face away. When did it become so prideful and dignifying for women to act sexually aloof, here she was tingling from the sensations her earlier scuffle with her husband had aroused and who could blame her. She'd not been made love to in 5 and half years! She'd came close few days ago when she tried to seduce her husband and now yet a little closer again and the only thing stopping her from being rightfully fulfilled was another woman! Elizabeth Morgan. Oh! May God reward you according to your deeds. She silently cursed.

There was silence now, nobody knew what to say anymore, for nothing could change the pain and hurt the last few minutes had created, nothing could erase the moments that had just passed, nothing could mend the rip in this marriage except God intervened? Matt took a deep breath and lifted the brown large envelope that was on the coffee table and handed it to Lucy. It was the divorce papers, his lawyer had prepared them for him earlier in the day, he'd come home hoping to find something to hang on to as a reason for his leaving her since he knew Lucy would never file for divorce no matter how rotten this marriage got. He and Beth needed to be together openly, she'd spent the last few years patient with him to come to this conclusion on his own without her interference and only when he'd mentioned his thoughts about it had he seen the look of excitement in her eyes, that told him everything he needed to know about her need for not to be kept a secret any longer. Coming back to present, he heard the tears before he actually saw them. Lucy was shedding them quietly looking down at the papers in her hands.

Thinking that she was finally getting through to him, she spoke again 'I love you matt' she said softly and this time she knew she was telling the half truth, but she continued determined to fight for this, 'please let's make this work'.

Matt was still quiet as he stared through her, thinking that he was still listening she rushed to his side kneeling down before him she took a deep breath again and spoke 'Matt I forgive you'.

He blinked and looked at her startled whatever for?

Bracing herself she replied I know about your affair?

It was Matt's turn to be shocked, his face turned white, as he looked at her intently, what do you mean? He asked bluffing

She stood up and walked away from him, wondering how this day was ever going to end if ever, turning around she spoke, come off it Matt 'we've not had sex in years, you had to be getting it somewhere else. She said this looking him in the eye daring him to deny it. Getting no response from him she continued 'one call was all it took for you to stop us from making love the other night, one call! Matt d**n it! It had to be a woman, so don't sit there, she said getting angrier now, don't sit there and play the betrayed one,

don't you dare play on my intelligence'.

Matt kept thinking to himself she knows. She knew. She'd known all the while and kept quiet. His early bravado suddenly evaded him, he felt naked and ashamed scrambling for words to say.

Eventually he looked up 'Lucy I feel really stupid right now, I'm sorry for every pain I've ever cause you in this marriage, I don't to think there is anything you can say to me that can make me feel any less than I feel right now.

As I sat down few minutes ago, the truth just dawned on me after all this time, Lucy, I think I was more in love with the idea of you, back then you were this amazing woman that fitted into my idea of a wife, I had to have you so badly that I didn't see what I should have seen. I was so sure of my charms that it never occurred to me, you could actually want someone else. I felt I had your attention and that nobody else could compete with me I never even saw Logan as a threat.

I know you didn't, she conceded but how's that relevant now?

Don't you see Lu, we should never have gotten married. I had a dream before we got married; I think now that God was trying to tell me something. But instead I manipulated you and I'm so sorry, it's all my fault. He said a catch in his throat.

What are you talking about? She asked confused

I had a dream Lucy, remember that Sunday my birthday when I came back, and we had that fight. he asked

She nodded her head, remembering that day like it was yesterday, for it was the day she'd shunned Logan.

The next day, I had a dream about us, I think God was trying to tell me something and I chose to interpret it differently.

What dream, you never said anything to me about a dream? She demanded apprehensively.

Then he told her everything. Later on they were both quiet for a few seconds, then matt spoke up 'I thought it meant you were having doubts about us and needed assurances and more convincing, so I focused all my energy on showing you how much I was the man for you'.

Lucy nodded unconvincingly but remembered how much he'd changed after that Sunday she had found herself feeling like she'd truly gotten to him, only for them to get married and he'd changed again.

I didn't know about Logan, and how you felt; now the dream makes sense, because you left with him leaving me crying for you. If I had known about Logan, I wouldn't have come on so strongly, I would have given you the space to think. I knew how determined you could be when your mind was made up and I used it to my advantage. He finished.

Episode 13

Going back inside, she bravely prepared herself for what lay ahead. Opening the door, she stepped into the lounge, and just then Matt looked up as if startled. He was holding what looked like a mini tape recorder as he removed his ear phones from his ears while holding a winne the pooh bear she'd never seen before. Unable to register the relevance, she took a deep breath and spoke up

Matt we have to talk?

Matt looked up, a smirk developing on his face, and pretended not to hear her.

I said we have to talk? She said again more firmly

Yes! We do Lu we most definitely do, but you don't have to say anything I already know the truth. He replied

What truth? She asked her heart in her mouth

The truth about you and Logan He replied holding up the tape recorder and the bear.

Lucy's face went white with fear, as the impact of those words registered fully. 'Matt it's not what you think' she began

Grinning widely, he shouted at her 'what do you mean it's not what I think'? It's not so difficult to understand that you've been in love with him all these years we've been married, pinning for his touch and God knows what.

No! That's not true, she spoke softly I f you listened to that tape, you would know that.

It doesn't matter Lucy, don't you see, you've never completely been faithful in this marriage from the start, I know I've not been a good husband to you and all, but all that pales in comparism to this. I feel betrayed.

Outraged Lucy raised her voice back at him, 'how dare you Matthew Peters accuse me of being unfaithful', a sob escaped from her, 'no matter how this looks I have done nothing wrong '.

Nothing wrong! You are supposed to be my wife, mine alone! I married you Lucy, you belong to me in every way.

And I am yours matt I am. Remember you came to me, you wanted me, you pursued me persistently and in the end you married me, now you have me, you won!. I'm still yours for better or worse. She challenged.

Matt went quite as she said this, slowly as if in a trance he sat down on the sofa.

They'd already pulled apart by then, both fighting for composure.

Hi Matt, you're home early. She asked

Yeah! Am I interrupting anything, he asked looking at her and then at Logan closely taking the in the scene. Hoping he was right

Logan greeted him, picking a cue from Lucy, wondering how he must have sounded, but it was the best he could do under the circumstances.

Lucy continued, 'Logan came by to my work to see me Matt, he and Naomi are leaving tonight' at that Matt's ears perked up

Really! Why I thought you were around for another week? He asked feeling despondent, his plan was falling apart.

Yeah! But Naomi is worried about the boys so we've decided to leave tonight. Logan replied.

Lucy continued filling the need to explain herself, we had lunch earlier, I came home later on, and Logan stopped by to see me so we could properly catch up. And now he's leaving. She concluded moving quickly towards the door; less Matt decided to ask further questions

Matt wondered about Lucy's story what sort of catching up? well he was going to find out soon enough. Saying his goodbyes to Logan he ran upstairs turning around briefly in time to catch Lucy and Logan breath a sign of relief as they shut the door behind them.

As he changed Matt went through his plans for tonight in his head, it was now or never. With Logan leaving, his plan of catching them cheating was blown to pieces, so he had to make use of what he had for now and what he brought home with him, picking his phone he called Beth to tell her his plans. Tonight was confessions night.

Waiting for the cab to come, Lucy and Logan held hands and stared into the night, deep in their own thoughts. Lucy's thoughts went back to the house, she thought about her future life with Matt and her heart sank. She focused her thoughts back on the kids and felt instantly better, as long as she had them she could deal with anything.

Logan suddenly had a thought and he pulled her hand to get her attention.

Baby does Matt treat you right? He asked

Lucy smiled at his new pet name for her and his concern, she wanted to pour out her heart to him but she knew it wouldn't be fair to send him off worrying about her. Looking up at him through the tears that instantly filled her eyes again, she smiled at him and said Yes! He does Logan, he has to I'm the mother of his kids.

Logan looked down at her closely and knew something wasn't right, turning to her he asked, Lucy is everything okay between you and Matt? Does he treat you right, tell me please?

Lucy nodded her head at him, trying to convince him that he had it wrong. Logan we are fine, the kids are fine, it's just I wish we had a chance that's all, maybe things would have been be a bit different with us.

What do you mean things would have been different, what things Lucy? He asked softly

Realizing her mistake, Lucy tried to backtrack. Logan I love you and that's all that matters please. Please let it go. She begged.

Logan knew she was right, what he didn't know wouldn't kill him, but still if that husband of hers was disrespecting her, somebody needed to set him straight for good, he closed his eyes and tried to fight off all the crazy images that were suddenly running through his mind. He tried to imagine what things Lucy could probably be going through with Matt then a thought occurred to him and he looked at Lucy and asked

Is he unfaithful to you?

Shocked at his perception Lucy stepped back, her face registering shock at Logan's truthful question telling Logan all he needed to know.

Oh God! Oh God Lucy I'm so sorry. Logan gasped as he sensed the truth from her reaction.

Standing there she realized there were no words left to say anymore. Nothing mattered anymore; this was the story of her life.

Taking Logan's hand she held it up to her lips and kissed it. I'm going to be fine Logan; you need to believe that, because in spite of this I'm not walking in Matt's shoes. Do you catch my drift?

Nodding he answered her question; she was telling him they had to end it here because she couldn't afford to be unfaithful too.

Who is she Lucy, someone you know, someone at church, a friend? Logan demanded tersely

I don't know Logan and I don't want to know, now let it go please. She pleaded

Baby you don't deserve this, that husband of yours has no idea what he's got. He signed I'm so sorry about all this, he said bringing her close to his chest wishing he could turn back the hands of time.

Lucy felt truly loved and safe for the first time in her whole entire life, she wished this moment wouldn't end as she savored every minute of it, refusing to care about the neighbors or even the possibility of Matt looking through the windows. Just then Logan's phone started to ring, even as a cab pulled by their side. Checking the caller ID showed the cab company which told him it was time to go.

Inwardly he prayed to God to take care of her for him, he prayed the following years would be good to her, and that someday when enough time had elapsed they would meet again as friends. He thought about telling her the truth about his 'marriage' but decided not to, it was better this way. Holding her one last time, he kissed her forehead, tore himself from her and slid into the cab, refusing to look back even though he knew Lucy was still standing there.

Lucy stood there long after the cab had left, knowing she would never be the same again. She prayed that God would keep him for her; she prayed that she never saw him again, for she couldn't bear knowing that she would never be that woman standing next to him. She tried to stop the tears as she felt her whole being crumbling under the pain she felt, she felt as though her life was been turned upside down, then she realized that six years ago she'd turned her life upside down and today God was turning her life the right side up. Little did she know how true those words were and that this was just the beginning.

Logan took one look at Lucy and knew she'd been crying. He'd seen her drive off while he tried to call a cab, and suddenly he had an idea, called Liam and begged him to give him her home address, and here he was not really sure what he wanted but at least he was glad he came.

Lucy recovered from her shock. Wondering how this day was ever going to end. She invited him in. Closing the door, she walked him to the lounge, where she'd earlier been. He sat on the sofa, and she went and stood by the wall opposite him determined to keep a distance between them. Once again the silence ensued and they both stared at each other. Eventually Logan blurted out.

Lucy I'm going to be very honest and blunt with you because there's no other way to say this.

Remembering the last time they'd spoken like this, she nodding telling him she understood completely.

I'm in love with you Lucy, I've been in love with you, for as long as I can remember, I realize now that I will always love you Lucy. That's why I'm leaving; the kids are just a ruse. Naomi was concerned about the kids and I offered for us to leave early. Pausing he tried to stand up but thought better of it, 'Lucy I never thought I would fall in love again after I lost Amy, but I did, and I stupidly and foolishly let you slip out of my hands. I should have stood my ground and made you see reasons why we were meant to be, you had every right to be scared, you were just being you'.

'I've thought about that scripture in the Bible that said flee from all appearances of evil, we Christians paraphrase the evil as sin.

Lucy, six years ago when we fell in love, it wasn't sin. But now standing here right now with you thinking and saying these words it feels like sin, there you are standing away keeping your distance from me, making it feel all the more wrong when it should have been right. Struggling to speak, as the tears welled up in his eyes, I wish I never left Lucy, I wish I fought for us Lucy, I wish I never listened to you. I wasn't a distraction Lucy, no! Matt was and I should never have gone away and left you with no choice. If I had stayed back and made my intentions known to you and you'd still insisted on making Matt your choice I would have moved on with a bit of closure. Lucy do you have any idea how it feels to know every single day you wake up the woman you love is someone else's wife? You try to fall in love with other women but they always come second best. Do you Lucy?

Oh! Logan she made to walk up to him, but he stopped her this time, it wasn't necessary.

Lucy gasped, tears streamed down all over her face, the impact of Logan's words setting in 'Logan I'm sorry, I'm really sorry. I'm really sorry'. She held her face in her hands wiping away the tears furiously. Logan made to move towards her, but she stopped him too. Don't come close, you're right we need this distance, just stay where you are.

She continued I thought... What I'm trying to say is, she continued now more composed 'I'm a very organized person, I compartmentalize things in my head, and when I believe in something I see it to the end. I know this doesn't justify my actions but I want you to know that I tried not to fall in love with you, I tried not to love you Logan I really tried', now the tears were coming again, 'oh! God this hurts so much', she said wiping them away again.

'What I'm trying to say is because I love being in control, you made me feel out of control, when I'm around you I feel out of sorts, and I thought that was a bad thing, that love shouldn't do that to you. I should have known that when it comes to choosing the man of my dreams, it had to be a complete opposite of what or who I would expect. I should have known, it was right there in my face, I shouldn't have married matt at all, it was you all along'.

I know this doesn't count for much but I'm so sorry Logan, I know now that we would have been very happy together. But at least even if we missed being life companions we would still make heaven right! She consoled jokingly

Laughing Logan stood up laughing; glad they'd finally being truthful to each other. It was now time to go. There was nothing left to do. This was it for them. He paused and stared at her, and this time around they moved together, meeting each other half way, then they held each other. It felt so right, but they knew that once they crossed the line it would start to feel wrong. Even though they both wanted badly to share a kiss, it was important for them to keep this moment pure, especially for Lucy, Logan thought if and when she decided to eventually tell Matt everything.

They started into each other's eyes, declaring their love for one another without words. Lucy realised she was still crying silently, Logan used his thumb to wipe away the tears whispering to her it was going to be okay. Wishing he could bring her more comfort.

I love you he whispered.

I love you too she replied wishing she could turn back the hands of time.

The both of them started following the same thought flow, that if committing an act in your heart was the same as doing it then in this case they were already guilty so why waste the moment. But as they started to move to kiss, the door knob turned and the door opened and Matt came in.

We're leaving tonight. He told Lucy

Why? Naomi said you were around till next week. Lucy questioned instantly rattled.

Yeah! That was the plan but she misses the boys a lot so we've decided to cut the trip short, and leave tonight. Logan answered

Watching her closely he continued 'So I guess this is goodbye again Lucy, thanks for lunch', he said

Alright then Logan take care of you, give my love to Naomi and the boys. She replied her voice off key

Logan looked at her and knew she was struggling within, the first sign today that he wasn't the only burdened one, nodding to her, he turned around and walked away.

Lucy watched him go, every bit of her nudging her to call out to him but then what would she say? She asked herself

Maybe it was best this way keeping the innocence of their 'relationship', she was married, he was married. They were simply married friends who had lunch. She made to go into her office but soon realized she couldn't abide being around other people right now, she had too much on her plate. So heading straight to her jeep, she dialed Debbie's mobile and told her that she was going to be longer than she thought.

Driving as fast as she could, she parked the jeep just outside the house, slammed the door and ran straight into the house. She fell on the sofa and cried. Praying and crying all at once.

Abba Father, help me, help me Lord. Give me grace to do your will Lord, Give me strength to honor my marriage vows, I'm in love with another man Father, she felt a burden lift off her the moment she finally said those words out loud. I think I'm in love him. Lord help me what have I done. I married the wrong man, that's why all this is happening to me she screamed at herself. You tried to warn me but I refused to listen. She cried oh God! What have I done? What have I done? She wailed Matt doesn't want me, Logan... well I'm not sure what he wants from me, I'm not sure anymore what I feel for my husband if I ever loved him but I want to keep my marriage because it's what you commanded me to do, then I'm falling in love again with Logan, oh God she sobbed this is all too much for me Lord please help me I can't handle this all on my own, Father help me, help me with this burden help me Abba Father she cried. Just then the bell rang, she jumped up, wiped her eyes, and flung open the door without thinking, and there he was standing.

With that she walked to the visitor's lounge, where Logan was seating going through magazines and sipping his wine. She approached him formerly. He stood up and greeted her.

Hi Lucy, hope I'm not intruding... He asked

Its okay she said, taking charge. I hope you're very hungry; I'm having my lunch now. So we could talk while we ate.

There's a Subway joint down the road, hope you still like eating it though. She continued remembering they used to go there together.

Yeah! I still do. Logan answered smiling at the instant connection they shared.

How did you get here? Lucy asked

I took a cab. Logan replied

Alright then, I packed my Jeep down the road, so we can just walk down then.

They walked side by side together chatting about life's occurrences, by the time they got to the Subway they'd exhausted all small conversations. They joined the queue, made their orders, and went through their usual motions of who wanted to pay; eventually they settled for each individual order payment. Picking a corner seat, they sat down to eat. Lucy was really starved, so she decided to concentrate on her meal, Logan also delved right into his sandwich, but kept sneaking glances at her, marveling at how she could be in control, while he was losing it just being around her. He wanted to talk but he didn't know how to start. Disappointed he watched their lunch come to an end, and they were sipping their drink, stealing glances at one another.

Lucy wondered if it was possible to say so much through your eyes, for what she saw in Logan's eyes was just too much and right now she didn't want to deal with it she wasn't ready to process all of these not with all that was going on with Matt and their marriage, stepping back into her usual mode she brushed aside her feelings. Seeing he wasn't going to say anything except stare; she stood up signaling him that it was time to go. Together they walked out, she glanced at him again willing him to say something, but he just stared at her and smiled weakly words unsaid hanging around them like a clinging wetness. As they drew closer to her office he spoke up finally.

Episode 12

Lucy got out of the Jeep, slammed the door and ran upstairs. It was a good thing the kids were not around, she wouldn't have been able to deal with them right now. Going through the motions of undressing, she kept repeating her mantra in her head over and over again. Matt come into the room, looking at her closely. He'd been doing that all night, and she guessed he must have realized she wasn't herself, she just hope that he couldn't guess why. No! Matt didn't know her that well she concluded. Sliding under the covers, she turned off her bedside lamp, and gave in to sleep which surprisingly came swiftly.

The new week started and Lucy when through the motions moving about, her mind working like a robot. Her mind on her work, it was a good thing she was a great stylist otherwise her current client would not have found her new look very appealing. As if that was not enough, Matt came home very late and completely avoided her and they hadn't had the chance to talk since the dinner. She felt alone and lonely it was almost like she was being tested, but by who Matt or God all she could pray was for strength to get past this week because the kids would be back soon, and at least she would have them to distract her till Logan went back to the states.

Speaking with them every evening was her only comfort now, she found herself suddenly counting down the days to their arrival. They would be back this Saturday and back to school on Monday. She wondered if she'd taking care of everything they needed back to school, it would be disastrous come Monday morning if she'd forgotten anything important. Mentally she started to check the list of important items, check clean socks, shoes and uniforms, check pencils, pens and color crayons, check lunch boxes and lunch ideas, check registration for after school programme and on and on. By Thursday she was getting back to her usual self having being busy with all these back to school preparations. At work she grew chattier again, getting into the rhythm of the job once again. Then one day just as she was about to finish with a client, Debbie her assistant, whispered in her ears the words that froze her up instantly.

There's a man named Logan here to see you Lucy Debbie whispered

Looking up she saw him standing at the reception waving at her. Careful not to give herself away even as her hands suddenly started trembling, she said to Debbie 'tell him he would have to wait, I'm with a client now and would not be free for the next two hours till lunch'.

Debbie nodded and told her, she'd told him just that and he'd said he was willing to wait till she was done. Alarmed at his determination Lucy briskly told Debbie to attend to him, since he was a guest, he should receive the VIP treatment reserved for her special clientele. Debbie nodded and walked off, totally clueless to how her latest statement affected her boss. Finishing the client's hair, she walked up to Debbie and asked to see her appointment Log book, and to her dismay she realised her two next appointments had cancelled. One was Elizabeth Morgan, she remembered that one, and the other was a new unfamiliar name, every other stylist but her was booked till evening.

Looking at her watch it was just 12noon, she was free till 4pm, making a decision she untied her apron, hanging it she glanced at her reflection in the mirror, adjusted herself and wondered why she was doing it. Grabbing her handbag, she told Debbie, she was taking an early lunch, and if anyone asked for her she would be at her favorite lunch spot Subway.

Lucy stood still in the middle of the room, she saw Matt across the room a phone in his ear, and lamented to herself 'oh great! The one night she really needed his complete attention he couldn't wait to have a chat with his bimbo the moment he was free what was wrong with all the men in her life?' She thought tearfully. Breathing deeply she turned around, put on a brave smile and walked confidently head held high towards Susan, praying for strength.

Hi sweetie, great party as usual. She commented as the hugged each other

I know, Susan replied as they lightly exchanged cheeks, you look great too as always, where's Matt looking around? She asked

Lucy turned around in search of Matt, Hm! there he is, on the phone, she waved at him to hurry.

Let him take his time Lucy, trust me it's better for him to get the call out of the way now, so you have evening free. Susan said winking at her.

Lucy laughed knowing how ironical and true her words were.

Turning to her side Susan spoke up, hey Naomi I would like you to meet my very good friend Lucy. Lucy this is Naomi, she's Logan's ...

Wife, Naomi quickly added in stretching out her hand, aware of the confused looks Susan was sharing with the two men.

She shrugged, and continued the introductions, and you do remember Logan she joked. Speaking to Naomi, she said they used to be very close before Logan decided to go to the States for only God knows why. She playfully jabbed Liam in the ribs, who was standing behind her as she said this, knowing it was for business reasons.

Fighting for control, Logan spoke calmly; Hi Lucy, it's being a long time, stretching out his hand to shake her.

Lucy replied 'back at you' as she shook his hand trembling.

Lu here's your drink, Matt suddenly came up behind her handing her drink to her.

Lucy grabbed it from him and downed it in one swoop, grateful for his timely appearance.

Wow! Lu are you okay? He asked concerned, then he looked up and noticed the rest of the group she was chatting with.

Greeting them all at once he sighted Logan and exclaimed Hey! Logan where did you spring from? He asked his surprise clearly visible; they shook hands, exchanged pleasantries and soon began catching up together with Susan and Liam, while Lucy distracted herself by striking up a conversation with Naomi.

So how long have you guys been married? She asked

Oh! Me Naomi replied five years now, and two wonderful boys to show for it. The elder Alex is four and the younger Daniel is two.

Really! I've got two kids myself, twins actually, they are both five years old. I've been married for six years now.

Don't you lie to me? Naomi gaped at her, you look so fit, and how did you lose all the baby weight? She asked

I guess I was just lucky but then I did a lot of running, breast fed the twins for almost six months till I gave up and turned to formula, but by then I believe had practically lost all the pregnancy weight. Lucy realized she'd been prattling on 'don't let me bore you' she exclaimed

Oh! No it's okay. I lost my baby weight too although not instantly like you, I know you find that hard to believe but the truth is I've always being a size 14 so when I got back to that size I just stopped my diet and kept fit I know I could have gone down to a size 12 or 10 but I love myself this way. Fancy you feeling awkward talking about weight issues; you know 'skinny people' rarely feel that way where I come from. They just can't wait for a chance to pretend to complain about their bodies, their diets, their exercises and their men. Naomi said humorously flipping her hand so you my dear are quite the opposite.

Laughing out loud, Lucy shook her head, she liked this woman God help her she really did. Fishing into her purse for her business card she gave it to Naomi. How long are you around for?

We've got two more weeks to go before I go back to my babies. Naomi answered

Well here's my card, pop in anytime you're in the city centre or you can call ahead to book an appointment, my number is right there on the card. Just in case you want to do something to your hair for the return trip, or you may want to buy some make-up products for yourself and friends back home. I will even throw in some discounts too. Lucy said smiling.

Gee Thanks Naomi said. I'm definitely coming. Hey! Logan See what I got brandishing the card in front of him. Discounts for my hair and make-up Lucy gave me. She said excitedly

Thanks Lucy that's really nice he replied even though he'd been listening in on their conversation the whole time, while talking business with Matt.

Lucy nodded weakly at him. Turning to Matt she whispered in his ear and excused herself for a minute. Turning around she walked fast out of the room through the back door down and out in to the backyard, for much needed air. Holding her hands on her head, she breathed in and out, for a few minutes. Logan was here, she kept thinking, and he was married. Assimilating that information, she felt a bit relieved to know that he'd been happy with a woman like Naomi all these years. She liked that thought, she needed to like that thought, it was important that she liked that thought she re-enforced to herself refusing to give in to the instantly familiar emotions running through her like electric shocks. She focused on that thought alone. He was married to Naomi. She liked Naomi. It became a mantra in her mind, she kept saying it over and over, she needed to accept it and fight back this flood of emotions she'd tucked away all these years. She was losing control and falling apart and she didn't like it. She remembered the last time she'd been like this. It had been at her wedding reception, when Susan had dropped it idly while they were chatting that LOJ was starting an international office in the States, and Logan had gone to set it up.

Her world had stopped right then. She knew she'd asked him to stay away from her, but somehow a part of her had liked the thought of him being always there in the background. He'd left without a backward glance, without a proper goodbye because she'd asked him too. She fell apart that day; thank God Matt thought it was a result of the overwhelming feelings of being married and looking forward to the wedding night hoopla! She checked her wrist for the time and realized she'd been there for about fifteen minutes, it was time to get back, before Matt grew concerned, as if he cared, remembering the other issues yet unresolved, sighing she walked back into the house wearily as one who carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, walked up to Matt, thankfully he'd changed groups by then and told him quietly, she was ready to go home now.

The drive home was quiet and surreal, each one lost in their thoughts, the radio was playing some love songs and was currently playing 'I love you by Celine Dion' Lucy wondered why the radio Dj decided to torture her with this song, it was just what she didn't need now.

Matt looked at Lucy sitting next to him, she wasn't herself, if he hadn't attended this party with her, he would have said it was down to him and the events of last night. But looking at her now, it all made sense, the pieces suddenly fell into place, and he couldn't believe he'd been blind to it all this time. It sounded cocky but he believed he'd just found his reason for a divorce. His wife, his beautiful wife had spent the past six years of their life together pinning for another man and the scary part was he didn't think she herself knew the half of it. Yeah! His lawyer would love this.

Now that Logan was in town, maybe they might get tempted given the right place and time, after all was that not how it happened with him. He was going to set a trap for them, he didn't like what he was thinking about concerning his wife but he knew Lucy wouldn't give him a divorce based on religious grounds, so he had no choice but to force her hand. He made a mental note to stay away from the house from now on till late night, just in case Logan paid a visit, and he was going to make sure every inch of that house was bugged for solid proof of their sweet reunion. Matt felt oddly alive; he could finally get out of this god forsaken marriage and for once he wasn't the only one with the guilty emotions. Driving into the garage he packed the car, Lucy had been quiet all through the journey, which wasn't unusual, but in this case, he knew not what but who was on her mind, and it wasn't him.

Matt walked in to the party holding Lucy's hands as they walked side by side. He knew how much this charade meant to her, looking like the 'happy couple', so he was determined to be his best tonight and from now on. As they mingled with the other guests, recognizing faces from the church, they stopped to chat here and there. Just then they heard their names called behind them

Matt! Lucy! It was Ibi and his wife, suddenly Matt felt uncomfortable.

Hey Ibi Lucy greeted, how have you been? She exchanged hugs with them, whispering a compliment to Abby about her red dress.

Abby replied, gee thanks! I look forward to this party every year, already had my dress picked out months ago!

Me too Lucy replied. They both laughed together aware of how petty their conversation was considering the tension between their men, who stood there trying making an attempt to share in their laughter.

Eventually Ibi asked, so Matt how's work?

Great! Matt replied with a grimace

Do you still travel regularly? Ibi asked again his question implying a hidden meaning.

A nerve twitched around Matt's cheek, as he stared at his friend for a brief second, looking away he spoke yes! Telling him all he needed to know.

Nodding his head suddenly getting upset, Ibi nodded to his wife, a signal for them to move on; catching his drift Abby asked him where the drinks were for she was thirsty which was actually quite true, Lucy pointed them in the direction of the bar and hurriedly sharing their goodbyes they drifted away in search of drinks. Matt sighted a waiter carrying a tray of glasses of sparkling white wine; he also excused himself to get some for them. Loosening his tie as he moved, he shook his head thinking how this night was going to be harder than he imagined. Thinking of Beth, he wondered what she was up to, he decided to give her a call, may be that would relax him a bit.

Feeling suddenly alone Lucy searched through the guests for Susan and soon spotted her, glad to see her friend she quickly walked towards her direction weaving in between the guests then just a few steps away she sighted the group Susan was chatting with, it was Liam, a tall stunning woman and then her heart stopped when she saw who the man standing next to her was. Logan.

Logan turned sideways in her direction about the same time Lucy spotted him and everything stood still. Lucy stood there shocked and rooted to the ground. She looked even more beautiful than he remembered he noted to himself as the conversation around him gradually went into silence in his head. They stared at each other across the room, he marveled at the massive effect she still had on him after all these years. Naomi suddenly noticed Logan's silence and followed the direction of his eyes, saw the woman he was staring at and knew instantly who she was; the bane of her existence, the one person who brought out a side to Logan that nobody could, this woman was so special to him and she Naomi disliked her desperately for that reason alone. Instantly Lucy suddenly came to her senses and decided it was best to turn around and go in search of Matt, but just then Susan spotted her and shouted Lucy! Lucy! Over here she waved excitedly, over here.

As they drove down to Dyce, Lucy marveled at how easily Matt had agreed to come with her to the party. Maybe it was because he felt guilty about last night, if he did that was good for it meant there was still a bit of feelings for her. Maybe they still had a chance, it was time she confronted him with the facts as she saw them. It was time for him to confess his affair to her, so they could move on from it God willing she would forgive him if he would end the affair and work on becoming the man she once knew again. What if...? she didn't want dwell on the question that just propped up in her mind, Matt loved her he was just a bit lost, she really wanted to believe that, he was her husband, they were supposed to spend their lives together not she alone and he with another woman. That woman whoever she was just a distraction on their path, she was ready to fight for this marriage and it was now time for Matt to stand up and face the music. She decided tonight after the dinner would be the right time, she would catch him unawares.

Meanwhile at Susan's house the party was already in fuel gear. Most of the guests had arrived and in a party mood too, now the party had kicked into a full swing. There were a perfect mix of guests all from different circles, Church, Liam's clients, Susan's colleagues, friends and relatives and a few neighbors. Susan always tried to throw a party once a year usually towards the end of the year, before all other events came up and every one's diaries were fully booked up.

Moving through the crowd she looked and played the part of the perfect host, dressed in a beautiful black dress that gave her shape a streamlined silhouette, she mingled with the guests stopping for a chat now and then, while supervising the food and drinks which had all been catered out of course! She'd told Liam if he wanted her to continue throwing these parties he had to do it her way, which was the stress free option! Cater it all out even down to the music, and be a guest even at your own party!

Logan knocked on the door for the third time to see if Naomi was ready. This was the third dress she was trying on, he'd told her, people rarely dressed up around here, the code was usually to dress moderately so you could fit into the dress code for the party just in case word didn't get around to you on time. As you grew older you found it easier to just follow the norm, although for this occasion Susan had preferred that everyone dress up to their best. Finally coming out of the room, Naomi looked sensational and he told her so. She thanked him, and sashayed around a bit stopping in front of him she spoke as if to an imaginary crowd and said hi my name is Naomi and I'm black and beautiful. Logan threw back his head and laughed, God she really was something, slipping her hands into his, they walked down the stairs together chatting, looking completely at ease with one another just like any other married couple.

The next morning, Lucy woke up, and went for her run as usual. She needed to get her wits about her, for after last night's charade, she knew that this woman, had her claws deep into her Matt, and she didn't know what she was going to do about it. 'Be a good wife', Ibi had said, well what did he know! If she'd known how bad things were, maybe she might have had a fighting chance. No! God forgive me for that thought, yesterday proved one thing; which was that sex was not the way to fix things. If it was, the Matt should have stayed, then she realized that he could have stayed till the end and still left eventually for Beth, and she would have felt even worse, she acknowledged this little truth as she clenched and unclenched her fists

She wished the kids were around they would have distracted her from all these emotions, then remembering Liam and Susan were having a dinner party to which they'd been invited. She hoped she could get him to come, although the thought of going through the motions of being a 'happy couple' filled her with dread. Still just to spite that home wrecker, she would insist on Matt being with her tonight. Jogging back home she started going through her wardrobe mentally, thinking of what to wear.

Later on that night, Beth was upset to realize that she wouldn't be seeing Matt has planned. She realized she'd underestimated Lucy, something had happened yesterday night and even though Matt had refused to give the whole story she didn't need an oracle to tell her from the way he looked and smelled that she had being plying him with some seductive wares, she would know, she used them too.

How dare that woman lay a finger on her man? Beth was so angry she didn't care how ridiculous and misdirected it was, but rage was not the answer right now she had to keep her claws in if she planned to win in the end yes! All she had to do was apply more pressure on Matt giving him a taste of what he would be getting every day and night with her and in due time he would be truly hers she just knew it, he was already warming up to the idea of a divorce so all she had to be was sweet, innocent and understanding through the whole process and Lucy wouldn't know what hit her when her whole sham of a marriage fell down like a pack of cards, and if she wanted a fight well bring it on missy!

She would give her a lesson on understanding the needs of men 101. Reigning in her anger she realized it wasn't fair that she knew who Lucy and the woman had no idea who she was if only Matt would give her plan a chance but no! He insisted he would do it his way, he had a plan, and he needed Lucy to feel well appreciated and loved and unaware when he asked her. So agreeing to go this dinner party was part of the plan.

Even though all the jealousy in her made her feel like ruining the night for them by constantly calling Matt every 30 minutes for one reason or another. She decided to turn off her phone knowing that would drive him crazier. Oh! Lucy had no idea how good she was, it was almost too easy.

Episode 11

Lucy sensed something had gone wrong things had shifted in the instant it took that call to end. Matt turned back to her, kissed her deeply, she felt confident again but then he stopped and just stared down at her, she could feel how much he wanted her but he seemed conflicted like he was struggling to make a decision and in that instant she knew who had called. It had to be that mistress of his! She thought angrily.

Matt stared into her eyes willing himself to make love to his wife. He really wanted to, but he realized if he did, he would just be using her, and Lucy didn't deserve that. He knew he would still go back to Beth for that was the way things worked and he couldn't stop the flow even if he wanted to she ruled his emotions and knew just what buttons to press besides he loved her he had too otherwise why would he be turning down a chance to be with a woman that was rightfully and legally his.

Sensing his hesitation, Lucy tried to kiss him and he turned his head, she tried again but he averted his head still. Refusing to look at her, he whispered into her ears, I'm sorry Lu, then he got off, grabbed his clothes on the floor and ran down the stairs refusing to process of how his actions appeared to his wife. Snatching the car keys off the table he zoomed off into the night to Beth's house, allowing himself to think images of the white chocolate melting off her body drip by drip, subconsciously licking his lips frantically as he drove into the night.

Lucy could not believe how humiliated she felt right now, God if only the earth would open up and swallow her thereby ending her sorry existence that would just be super. Here she was being left unloved, high and dry and her husband rushing off to finish the night off with his mistress, yes! His mistress now she was convinced that there really was another woman, there had to be! Slowly getting up from bed she replayed the events of the past hour down to the last minutes, and could not believe she'd actually thought she could repair the damage of six year in one night of passion, that she believed she could wipe away the memory of his mistress who obviously knew him a lot more than she did, and could achieve what took weeks and hours of preparation for her to achieve in just one call! Remembering the frantic way he'd dashed out, she agonized at the betraying knowledge she felt that another fellow woman could do this, she fought the urge to curse her with every verse she could remember in the scriptures for she knew now without any doubt that Matt was having an affair. He had to be she thought again, for there were no logical reasons for his actions, what could explain leaving your wife in the middle of making love without explanations and dashing out of the house like a deranged puppy after receiving a call, what?

Matt came back to the house about four hours later, he'd been with Beth, His mind was still reeling with the things she'd done to him, she had actually been serious about the white chocolate, boy did they have so much fun! Carefully tiptoeing he stepped into the bedroom, not knowing what to expect, he realized that Lucy was asleep and had removed every detail of the past hour down to red silky sheets. He knew she was disappointed and angry she had every right to be which was why he couldn't afford to be a disappointment to her anymore. He and Beth had talked and they'd decided it was time for them to truly be together publicly as a couple, he hoped Lucy would be reasonable and understanding when he asked her for a divorce.

Matt watched Lucy serve his food and he was blown away by the look she gave him. Her smile, her eyes they looked different, and then his senses were assailed, with the scent of her body, it was something he hadn't perceived before, fruity but different. He mentally slapped himself for bringing Beth into this, this was he and his wife, and the past few days, Beth had travelled to see her parents in London, she'd asked him to go and he'd declined for some stupid reason and she'd gone alone angry. Now he was glad he hadn't gone, for he would not have wanted to miss this for the world, he couldn't believe Lucy was doing this after all these years, what he'd seen upstairs had blown his mind. The setting of it all had sent him reeling, he could feel himself being actually seduced, his mind was cast back to the early days in their marriage, of roses, candles and wine ready to set the mood.

Lucy was glad the meal was finally over. She quickly cleared the dishes, into the dishwasher, brought out a chilled bottle of n/alch red wine and returned back to the room, holding it along with two wine glasses. She waved it at Matt to gauge his interest and delightfully he rubbed his hands together with glee as he helped her to open the bottle pouring the wine for both of them, they clicked their glasses together, and downed their drinks trying to make small talk about nothing, while making steady eye contact. Lucy put down her wine glass down and turned on the CD player with the remote control, on cue it began to play their favourite love song I will always love you by Whitney Houston, for some reason it felt oddly appropriate. Pulling Matt up she drew close to him, he held her closer too and together they danced. Lucy felt happy, almost to the point of tears it'd been a long time since they'd been this way as a couple and it felt really good, although she'd never really had a lot of practice with romance, so she quietly enjoyed the moment hoping Matt would make a move at some point.

Matt felt tears in his eyes as he danced with his wife, he'd really missed her, couldn't believe it'd being this long, ironically he'd actually promised Beth, he wouldn't sleep with his wife. He'd laughed when she had said it partly because it not only sounded strange given who Lucy was and who Beth was, but partly because he didn't think it was possible at least not if it was down to him making a move. But now he felt different, he wasn't sure why he felt so emotional, maybe because he realized that he really loved his wife or because he couldn't believe that in spite of all he'd been to her, though he wasn't sure how much she knew or suspected, she still loved him and was trying this hard to win him over. Pushing Beth out of his head, he cradle Lucy's head in his hands and kissed his wife passionately for the first time in years.

Lucy was so unprepared for how she felt when Matt's lips touched hers, she mentally swooned. Together they stood there and time stood still with them, it was a reunion of two lost souls broken apart and now healing together again as one and all they each wanted to do was to savor every moment. A part of Matt wanted to be wild and passionate, and the other part wanted to be soft and gentle as his hands kneaded through her hair gently playing with her locks in his hands, in the end he gave in to the moment and with one swoop he lifted Lucy into his hands and she jumped on him cradling her hips around his waist. Surprised at her fervent response he carried her upstairs barely managing to keep still as they kissed and touched each other wildly. Eventually he got them into their bedroom, placed her gently on the bed, and carefully removed her clothes drinking in very detail as he kissed every inch of her body and hurriedly getting out of his clothes, he slipped under the covers next to her. He kissed her slowly and passionately and she responded in kind too and the pre-intimacy went on and on as they made up for all the years, he looked into her glassy eyes staring deep into them drinking in the expectation, the pleasure and anticipation he saw in there. Then the phone buzzed.

Startled he realized it was his mobile. Knowing who it was he prayed it would go to voicemail, but it rang again making a quick excuse he reached for the phone which was on the drawer by his side of the bed. He knew it was Beth, wishing he couldn't answer it but knew she would keep calling till he did,

Yeah! He said

Hi sweetie, guess where I am? She asked

Where? He asked

I'm in bed at home, decided to come back early, want to come over?

Err! Not really. Matt replied

Alarmed Beth continued cooing sweetly into his ears, I'm wearing your favorite colour smothered in white chocolate just the way you like it, seductively she purred in to the phone 'hurry Matt I'm wet and sticky and getting quite hot!' she finished hoping it worked.

Mentally cursing himself as he pictured her in his mind. He found himself instantly agreeing, and ended the call.

Beth swooped for joy knowing she'd won a battle, although she wasn't too sure what it was about, but one thing she knew was, Matt had never said no to her before and for him to do that now something had really gotten his attention, probably his wife, not trusting the b****h one second, immediately she dropped her bag and headed for the shower to get herself ready. Given the state of things she may have to speed up her plans tonight, which meant giving Matt the best night of his life.

CONTD...

FEW HOURS EARLIER

Lucy was a woman with a plan, a very air tight detailed plan to save her marriage, this night was a night of all nights, and Matt had no idea what she had in stock for him. She’d prepped herself every night and did all the right things to make him know she was available for him, she even brought out her seductive lingerie which she’d bought when they were getting married, and wore them when she was ready to go to bed allowing him to have a filled glance at her before getting to bed. She’d done this for five nights now since Monday, but he just wasn’t acting interested in her.

She decided today to go shopping for seductive body soufflés and oils, tonight she was going to seduce her husband, even if it killed her. More determined than ever she had gone to one of the gyms on Union Street, and used up their free day trial to tone up her already fit body, leaving her trusted assistant Debbie in charge of the business.

Rushing home she’d prepared his best meal of white rice, spicy tomato sauce, with barbecued chicken marinated in barbecue sauce, as well as matt’s favorite dessert, Hagen Diaz cookie dough ice cream. She’d bought whipped cream which her internet search had revealed was very good for use in the bedroom, for certain activities she got excited just thinking about.

She’d tuned down the lights in room and the living room a bit, as was said in the list of seduction tips she’d read about, and she was determined to win her man back before this two weeks was over. She mentally checked her plan again, she was wearing a short tightly fitted red gown, that flattered her figure giving her a sexy look, she liked the fact that it did not make her look like she was trying.

Thank God for a habit of dressing nicely indoors, matt wouldn’t easily guess what plans she had for him, she’d been prepping him all week, daringly bringing up the lengths each day. She’d done her hair in a nice braid that brought out her eyes, which were subtly made over in a way that became obvious under the scrutiny of an expert eye which matt wasn’t. She took a look at herself in the mirror and knew matt had no chance tonight of turning her down.

She heard him drive home, quickly she ran to the kitchen, and tried to appear busy. God I’m really trying here, she prayed within, please give me a pass mark today. Matt came in, said hi to her and ran upstairs to change, she imagined what he would see when he got upstairs, what he would smell when he go into the room, how he would react to the fact that his wife was trying to seduce him. She listened to his movements, with her heart in her mouth while she set the table. Eventually he came down casually dressed, looked at her and smiled as he sat down.

She was so overjoyed, that was a good sign. She told him dinner was served, carefully reaching across the table she allowed him to have a whiff of her scent, while she served his food. Smiling at him and maintaining eye contact, she gave him his plate, he smiled again. God! She was in heaven.

CONTD....

And yes! She won eventually, and it felt really good and truly worth it, because Matt was a real man in every sense; the complete package, and his wife well she could not believe that Matt had such a woman for a wife, it galled her to say it but Lucy was not what she’d imagined her to be, she was more.

She was everything that she wasn’t and it killed her with jealousy sometimes to think that Lucy was more beautiful in every way than she, but it consoled her to know that she had access to the one thing that meant the world to her. Matt. It’s been on for six years now; Beth reckoned it was time to move in for the kill. Yes! She wanted to be Mrs. Matthew Peters and it was time for Lucy to be booted out. It wasn’t any personal but just plain bad luck that they both loved the same man, and one of them happened to be pretty good at pleasing him than the other.

Suddenly Beth needed to be with Matt, to start prepping his ears to her point of view, she couldn’t afford to leave it till the end of her holiday, better to strike while the iron was hot. It was a bad idea to have left Matt however short or long the period not when he had his wife around to turn too, for in the absence of no one to warm his bed he might turn to his wife and that was a technicality she couldn’t afford right now.

She had to get back to Aberdeen ASAP, she turned around and started walking back home as fast as her legs could move, searching her mind for the perfect excuse to give to her parents who hadn’t had a proper visit from their daughter in four years. Feeling guiltier than ever, she determined in her heart that this night was not going to go to waste, better watch out Lucy.

Episode 10

Elizabeth scrolled through her phone as she read the latest text message Matt had sent

‘I love you and I miss you too, but try to enjoy your holiday with your family and don’t worry about me’.

It sounded sweet but she couldn’t help but feel that Matt wasn’t missing her. His attitude before she left was almost as if he couldn’t wait to get her out of his hair. She’d asked him if he wanted her to come back early and his reply had been this text message, which he’d sent yesterday. She dialed his number but he wasn’t picking up, leaving a voice mail she waited for him to call her back getting panicky by the minute.

Grabbing her jacket, she walked downstairs and told her mum she was going out for a walk. Shutting the door behind her, she allowed herself to feel the chill of the cold night. Borehamwood was a nice quiet neighborhood that suited people like her parents but for her it was just too boring, not that she had that much of a lively existence, but she believed you have to carve out your own means of existence, your own choice of fun, she believed in making things happen for her and not waiting oh! She hated waiting for anything; she was just too impatient with the slow movements of the tides of life when it came to her.

Ever since she was young she’d always had to stand by and watch the older guys she wanted approach other girls, no one approached her not even for her prom did she get a date. She’d wondered why that had happened to her, some people would call her beautiful, some would even go as far as saying she was simply a stunner and that she knew for she took pride in her appearance, even at that early age she treated her body with much pride and care.

So why did she find it difficult to land a date? When she’d gotten into the university, the same pattern had threatened to repeat itself again, she had lots of male friends who she could clearly see wanted more from her, but nobody wanted to step up to the game, to claim her heart.

In frustration she’d forced herself to ask the reasons why from one of her close friends after an evening class tutorial and his revelation had stunned her into silence. He’d told her that ‘for pretty girls like her, most men always assumed that she was already taken or that she wouldn’t want to go out with them so they never bothered making a move even though they wanted to’ that ‘it was up to her to give or make a direct or subtle move to get the right attention’.

Upset and outraged she’d thanked him for the tutorial and practically ran to her room at the student residence, angry at the hand that had been dealt at her. Her mother had brought her up to be conservative and reserved, well! If it wasn’t going to get her love and sex then she Elizabeth was binning the whole crap.

She vowed to herself from then on never to wait for things to happen ever again, but to go for it with all the instincts of a predator. It worked a lot like magic all through university, she went for every man she ever wanted single or not, she had no scruples about anything the end justified the means. Then she met Matt, and things became difficult, for the first time in her life she wanted a man who clearly wanted her but couldn’t have her not because of any particular reason on her said but because he was a Christian!

And to top that he had a very beautiful fiance who was also a devoted Christian she imagined her to be one of those women whose attitude in the bedroom made it easier for their husbands to stray. She knew this because he wouldn’t stop blabbing at work about how perfect his Lucy was and sometimes she sensed it was mostly for her benefit. Like he was telling her to back off! Well that only made things more interesting because for her the chase was sometimes equally more interesting as the eventual capture of the prey.
