TravelRe: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by Olaone1: 11:44am On Mar 30, 2012
justwise: Let say i spent £5 on fruit a week, £10 on meat and fish a week, £5 on pounded yam, £20 on lunch a week. £15 on coffee (£3 per day) £5 on water a week, that will only cost me £60. The list is to the extremely because no responsible foreign student spends that way.

£100 a week is ridiculous amount of money to spend a week on food and drink.
Foreign students spend more than that, bro.
Did you just say 5 pounds a week on fruits? Just 8 Pink Lady apples will set you back 5 pounds at Asda. And, it costs about 6.50 pounds at Sainsbury's.Did you know that?

justwise: Even if you eat Nigerian food everyday at the cost of £12 it will not cost you £100 a week to survive in the UK.
This is not true at all. 12 pounds a day is 84 pounds/week, bro. And that's just one meal per day.
TravelRe: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by Olaone1: 11:37am On Mar 30, 2012
justwise: 3+12++8+4= £27

+

Elubo/Poundo/Gari/Red Oil/Maggi/Vegetables = let say you spend £5 every week on each, it will cost you £30.

Total = £57

Does that come anything close to £100 a week? Even if you eat Nigerian food everyday at the cost of £12 it will not cost you £100 a week to survive in the UK.
Thanks.
Now, we are about to get there. We are @57 pounds, okay? Your calculation was based on the assumption that you visit all these places once a week. And that you have a drink at your uni once a week. So bro, how much do you spend on fruits? And water/juice/drinks?

We will get there bro. This is a system I really understand.

Again: If looking fresh/handsome/beautiful/full of life is important to you in the UK, you need 'bout 100 hundred pounds or more/week.

I know you, Justwise, spend more than 57/week

A medium cup of coffee at Costa is about 3 pounds. Even the cheapest oulets will still set you back at least 1.50 pounds. Don't tell me you have never bought coffee in any of these shops. undecided
Once a week visit to a Nigerian restaurant will cost you at least 12 pounds. Even your local pub (And I sulk at alcohol, so I don't). Or you simply don't socialize?

Twice a week dining out in your college will at least cost you 8 pounds. You can't live on bags of crips everyday let's be sincere, guys.
How much do you spend on Elubo/Poundo/Gari/Red Oil/Maggi/Vegetables/etc? Ask those who visit Macdo/KFC/etc (I don't), a meal there will set you back 'bout 4 pounds. So, how do you do it?
C'mon bro.
TravelRe: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by Olaone1: 9:51am On Mar 30, 2012
justwise: £100 a week for how many people? What type of food will you be spending £100 a week buying? Do you shop in Harrods?
Okay, how much do you spend a week? How much do spend on fruits? How much meat/fish/yam/etc do you buy a week?
Besides, do you eat at home 24/7? Do you take your soup full of locust beans to work/college?
You don't buy coffee/tea/water in shops at all no matter how cold/thirsty you are? You don't eat out at all - no matter what?
How much do you expend at your local Sainsbury's/Asda/week? Do you drink only concentrate juice/etc?

I really need you to explain?

salsera: let me see how to survive on 30pounds per week?

No chinese or lebanese takeouts
Buy all drinks in large bottles and fill out small bottles to take around during the day
Buy snacks in bulk to take around during the day
No sandwich or coffee shops

Main meals are at home

30pounds too much sef for feeding

I dont even live there yet but after all these trips as tourist me sef no how to work budget
30 pounds a week?! Are you kidding me? I don't think it's possible to survive on less than 100 pounds a week. Except you want to look drawn. You want to start buying those tasteless chicken, abi? What about fruits? How many do you eat/day? Abeg jare.

Come back here let's do the maths. undecided

And, please do something about Online/Offline thingy, too. I would like to know when my Iyawos are online wink wink

Also, if you could change the way you present the time/date a comment/topic gets posted to that of NL1 format please do. Thus, instead of "2 years 5 days", for example, let's have "March, 2010." Instead of "2 hours 2 mins" let's have "04:42 AM". Maybe your main intention here is to eliminate the ambiguity of time zones

Besides, don't forget to do something about "Page 0." And, " 2 posts" when we have only 1 (the OP should not count). This fools one into thinking that the topic has had 2 replies.

Omo ni e joo as you do smiley
Nairaland GeneralRe: "Nairaland 2.0" Is Live! Any Questions Or Feedback? by Olaone1: 6:34am On Mar 26, 2012
Oluseun,

E.g.
A search for 'Seun' on NL1 would have yielded Seun's main posts. It is now muddled on NL2 as it just highlights posts where 'Seun' is mentioned. The search now mainly yields comments from those who have name-dropped 'Seun.'

2) A search for 'cheap cars' on NL1 would have yielded threads with 'cheap cars' stated as part of OP (mostly). Now, it only highlights where 'cheap', 'cars' and 'cheap cars' are mentioned. Some of the highlighted comments could (and would) be unrelated to sales of 'cheap cars.'

It used to be a very effective NL tool

Nairaland GeneralRe: "Nairaland 2.0" Is Live! Any Questions Or Feedback? by Olaone1: 3:16pm On Mar 23, 2012
Oluseun, please we don't want "page 0". let the numbering start from 1.

Also, if a thread has no replies/comments, then it shouldn't read "1 post". The main post (OP) shouldn't be given the tag "1st post"

Take care
