PoliticsRe: The Reason Why Atiku Cannot Defeat Tinubu In 2027 by olaparodi: 9:02pm On Jul 25, 2025
2023 was Obi's best year but he didn't win.

He's been demystified after 2023. They have punctured his magic and it has become obvious that he rode on mere social media hype.

The playback of his interviews and thoughts has revealed him to be empty and very very very mediocre.

Okay..when would he start washing plates at parties?

It's the Obidients that will retire Peter Obi from politics with their over doing of things and not knowing when to ignore some certain things
At least someone that cannot build schools or good roads should be able to serve food otherwise it will be a total waste of guber votes

Okay ooo. If true then something must be wrong somewhere. If Obi wants to run alone, he should be ready to have TRUSTED polling unit agents across all polling units in Nigeria. Not just in 21 states, because APC will doctor results in the 15 states not represented. At the end we were be searching for stolen mandates.
How many states results were doctored on 2023? Even Obi didn't go to court to say that his results were doctored

Politics16 Reasons why the Planned Fuel Price Hike Doesn't Make Sense by olaparodi(op): 4:33pm On Jun 03, 2017
We are all aware of the recommendation by the Senate Committee on Works to increase the pump price of petrol from N145 to N150 per litre for the implementation of the proposed National Roads Fund (NRF). Note that it's for the maintenance of federal roads only.

Listed below are some reasons why the plan is nonsensical, lazy, and shallow - by olaparodi@gmail.com

1. The planned increase is coming one year after the present govenment increased fuel price from N87 to N145 per litre! Haba! Una wan kill Nigerians?

2. Those who spend more time in traffic will pay more. And it doesn't necessarily mean they will spend the additional time on federal roads. A good example is if you spend 2 hours in traffic inside Lagos. Na wa o.

3. Many buyers of petrol and diesel do so to fuel their generators. Why should this set of people pay extra N5 per litre for fuel? Wetin concern generators and maintenance of roads?

4. Many road users who buy petrol or diesel don't use or hardly drive on federal roads. A good example? 'Okada' riders or local cabs. Ah, I almost forgot those living in villages or towns without any 'federal road' presence.

5. Petrol is already too expensive at N145 per litre. Why are the senators not in a hurry to first make local refineries work? This would lower prices and provide more jobs and revenue for the government.

6. What would be the formular to spend the revenue generated on the federal roads in each state? Will it be based on the amount generated from each state? Or land mass? Or population? Even if you're able to magically determine the amount generated from each state (I don't know how they can generate reliable figures), the number of federal roads in the state which generates the highest revenue may not be the same or in the same condition as that of state(s) with lower revenues. Magomago go start again o. I can hear echoes of marginalization already.

7. From available evidence, the funds won't be fairly and equitably utilised. You don't agree? Look at the condition of Lagos ports and you won't believe that those ports generate huge revenues for the FG. What of VAT revenue? How is it being distributed? The injustice will continue.

8. Federal Government should reduce its presence in maintaining national assets like federal roads. It should handover existing roads to the states where they are located. Or use PPP (Public Private Partnership) to run them. Trying to run the states from the already over-burdened Federal Government is inefficient and should stop.

For example, Cross River state is planning a 260-kilometre highway and there is no plan to rely on such petrol tax for its maintenance.

9. The existing federal roads should be maintained by revenues from electronically-controlled toll gates. If you don't want to pay the toll, then don't use the road(s).

10. Increasing petrol price will increase inflation rate and worsen the suffering of the people. Don't forget that over 30 states are owing salaries and millions are unemployed.

11. What is the Federal Government's plan to fund federal roads in the yet to be signed 2017 budget? Why is the Senate trying to increase the hardship of the people when there is already an Appropriation Bill?

12. What exactly is the Senate's sacrifice to increase the revenue of the government? Why are they always interested in punishing the suffering masses? The National Assembly budget for 2017 is N125 billion!!! A reduction of 10% in the budget will yield N12.5billion! The Senators continue to live large and the masses are living in poverty. Shame!

13. The new plan is not in tune with current global developments in the auto industry. Petrol-driven cars are gradually going into extinction. What were the senators thinking? Many auto manufacturers already have plans to release electric cars.

14. The new plan shows that Nigeria is still lazily fixated on petrol or crude oil as its main revenue source. Diversify! Look elsewhere! Think of better ideas! Petrol is dying...wake up now!

15. It's surprising that the Nigerian Senate is not bothered about the calls by Nigerians to unleash the potentials of the country by urgently restructuring the polity, or by the rot in the Police, poor education standard, price hike of everything, worsening unemployment, or the surge in crime.  The only thing they could think of is a Roads Fund which revenue will be looted like others before it.

16. What system is in place to ensure that the revenue from the price hike will not be looted? I'm not aware of any. What is happening to revenue from Stamp Duty charge being collected from Nigerians? Hmmm...

Nigerians, forward and circulate this before it's too late. Enough is enough!

The Outcry Against the CBN and the Cry for True Federalism

Pace K. Olaparodi‎.

December 22, 2015

I was at a dinner in Port Harcourt yesterday and most of those present had harsh words for the CBN and its leadership. As the diners lambasted Godwin Emefiele, the CBN Governor, in turns, my attempts to make them see the CBN as almost helpless in the present situation fell on deaf ears until I said 'all of you caused this problem'!

There was silence. They sought to know how. Then I started. Most of the men wore imported shirts, shoes, watches and ties. They used imported mobile phones and sat on imported furniture while watching the Arsenal/Man U match on imported TV sets being broadcast by another imported medium (DSTV).

The CBN needs to begin a massive public enlightenment programme. It also needs to start engaging the fiscal authorities in a firm and unambiguous voice.

There is a strong feeling out there (among the public) that it is either the CBN is just being mean or simply unable to tackle manage the foreign exchange problem. Because of this, the sympathy of a lot of people is not with the CBN.  ‎The negative feeling has gone sky high on the back of the 'suspension' of PTA/BTA, the planned restriction of the usage of debit/credit cards from January 2016, the sharp fall of the Naira exchange rate to N280 in the parallel market, and the revelation that CBN paid out dollar cash to Dasuki (the embattled former National Security Adviser).

The painful thing is that these feelings are largely based on ignorance and lack of education. A lot of education can swing the ill feelings against the CBN to sympathy and even support.

The public must be told in clear terms that the CBN does not manufacture dollars and is not sitting on a pile of dollars which it has refused to release to importers or manufacturers.

The public must be reminded that the crude oil price in June 2014 was $112 per barrel compared to less than $40 that it is as at the time of writing. ‎Hey! Oil contributes 90% of Nigeria's foreign exchange and its price has fallen by almost 70%!

It is not 'CBN policy' that has made dollars dry off. It IS the mighty fall of crude oil price and the habits of the Nigerian people to import everything from abroad ranging from finished products to leisure. ‎Well, we cannot control the price of oil but we can sure work on our habits and behaviour.

The Nigerian public needs to be told that their breakfast or lunch is made from imported eggs, palm oil, coconut, tomatoes, okro, rice, frozen chicken/turkey, beans, cabbage, lettuce, etc. Nigerian women wear imported hair, lashes, nails, make-up etc. The men and women drive imported cars that run on imported petrol. Many members of the public will be shocked and the shock may push some of them to take advantage of the business opportunities.

Thus, it is the public that 'manufactures' dollars through its behaviour and lifestyles.  The 'CBN Policy' is not responsible for the free fall of the Naira. The CBN only manages or keeps the dollar stock, created from the collective habits of the public, as external reserves. Do you deserve to spend dollars when you do not earn enough of the greenback?

The public must be educated that the external reserves will soon be depleted if the 'demand management' of forex by CBN is stopped. And by then, the situation would be so bad that the country would not be able to import or buy essentials like drugs or critical raw materials from abroad.

The public must be informed that devaluation is not an option because the country does not produce anything in substantial quantity. Devaluation will only throw more people into poverty and misery.

The public must be engaged to change its lifestyle and behaviour if it wants the external reserves or the Naira exchange rate to appreciate.

At another level, Nigerians cannot understand why their debit cards will be stopped from making retail payments while the same CBN is doling out dollars to BDCs twice a week. The dollar fiesta to BDCs has to be stopped immediately if indeed ‎forex is scarce. I am not aware of any country in the world that does that.

The government must aggressively tackle the problem of the refineries and lure companies with juicy incentives to invest or set up in Nigeria. They should target companies that can produce mobile phones, cars and other forex-consuming products. This is very urgent. The same urgency must be applied to the removal of fuel subsidy. A pro-Nigeria and development-friendly trade and industrial policy must be announced without further delay. There is no time at all.

The Federal Government and the states must aggressively substitute imports and frenetically promote exports. For example, they should immediately work with states to have a National Dress Code that uses local materials and approved styles for employees in the formal sector to wear to work. Enough of wearing imported shirts and suits in a tropical environment. This would conserve a lot of foreign exchange and create employment for actors in the local dress value chain.  All states that have tourist attractions or centres should consider ways to generate local and foreign curren‎cy through them.

If the Federal Government (FG) wants to save the country, this is the moment, more than ever before, to return to True Federalism. Restructure the country and watch the states become creative and imaginative. The ensuing healthy rivalry which drove development among the regions in the First Republic ‎will be resurrected. It is an unparalleled shame for about 30 out of 36 states to be so broke to the extent of being unable to pay salaries!

The return to TRUE FEDERALISM will have immense spin-off benefits for the Police and our infrastructure. And would most likely kill off the calls for secession or self-determination in some quarters. So many sectors like education, health, agriculture will also fare better. The FG‎ should focus on just a few matters - immigration, external security, customs, central banking.

This is the way to prevent the country from an imminent economic collapse which would have severe implications for the political stability of the polity.

Yesterday, the strongest reason for TRUE FEDERALISM was political. Today, it is economic. There may be no tomorrow without it. ‎
