Hi, all ! I took the Academic module in January this year and did exceedingly well. Here are a few pointers for as many people who intend to write the test. 1. God first and always 2. I read extensively for a month and never did I trivialise the test as being an 'ordinary English test' 3. I stocked up my mobile phone with all the listening tests materials I could reach. The regular smartphone can accommodate audio files as mp3 files. What I then did with them was to play them through air phones every time I was on a bus, eating, warming into sleep or whenever I wasn't doing a task that required my ears. This strategy made me an 'active listener' enabling me to catch every detail over the voice recordings I heard. 4. My speaking test was a bit tricky as the examiner had a rather strong British accent, one that would require complete focus on the speaker to decipher. 5. I totally stopped short texting whenever I communicated with friends over social media platforms in other to better my spelling skills and identify my flaws with the help of 'autocorrect' ! 6. The use of vernacular language was barred by me whenever I communicated with my fellas. On the different days of my test, I made efforts to relax my racing heart by laughing a lot and praying before the test began. You must follow the different stages of the test progressively and make sure you are never lagging behind. To sum up, practise real hard, be confident in God and go kick ass. And like me, don't go back on wat you learned - speak and use good English language always |
