Addressing newsmen in Abuja, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Chairman of the NNPC Board, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu, declared that NNPC would only resume production if it got sufficient assurance and security clearance from the military authorities, guaranteeing the safety of its personnel and operations.

Sodipo Williams pleads guilty to $12m fraud


Kunle Sodipo Williams: faces 20 year jail term in US Williams who faces a maximum 20 year jail term for the offences and deportation, will be sentenced in October. Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General Stuart M. Goldberg of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and Acting U.S. Attorney Carrie Costantin for the Eastern District of Missouri, said Sodipo entered the guilty plea in a Federal court in Alabama.

The parents of the 10-months old baby wants the court to let them use a potentially life-saving drug from the U.S. on their son. They believed that the drug (which is still experimental), would help their son’s genetic condition rather than allow him to die as doctors have recommended. However a June 27 ruling of the court held that the application by the parents was ‘inadmissible’.
