MimiSheWrote: As I scrolled through Instagram, I came across a skit that left me both amused and concerned. A man magically transformed into a chicken to sneak into someone's food storage, and I couldn't help but think, "Yeah this is definitely Nigeria, where naturally smart people still believe in witchcraft and black magic." It's astonishing that in the 21st century, such beliefs persist, hindering our progress and potential.
Let's consider the implications of black magic being real. If it truly worked, wouldn't Africa have the strongest military in the world? Imagine the advantages: invisibility, mind control, bullet resistance, shapeshifting, teleportation, and unparalleled intelligence capabilities. We would be unstoppable, and the world would marvel at our greatness. Yet, we remain reliant on other countries for technological advancements and medical breakthroughs.
If you ask me... That's the real black magic right there.
It's time to acknowledge that "juju" doesn't really work. We're mentally stuck in the past, while the rest of the world has moved forward, embracing science and technology. They once believed in black magic too (more than we do right now) but they advanced and left those beliefs behind for a reason. We must do the same.
I urge you to think critically about the world around us. Let's focus on what truly works and strive for a better Africa, where science, technology, and reason prevail. This is not a call to dismiss our rich cultural heritage but to separate superstition from reality.
Let us catch up with the rest of the world and create a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come. I long to see a better Africa before I die, and I hope you share this vision.
I personally believe that Belief in a higher power is a natural aspect of human evolution. As our species became more intelligent, we began to ponder the mysteries of the universe. Our brains, seeking to alleviate the discomfort of uncertainty, created a coping mechanism - the concept of "magic".
This invention of our brains allowed us to make sense of the unknown, providing a sense of comfort and control over the uncontrollable. In essence, belief in magic and higher powers is a natural byproduct of our cognitive development, a testament to our brain's remarkable ability to adapt and find solace in the face of the unknown."
So call me ignorant all you want, but I need you to think for a minute. (Let your common sense do it's job)
This article is intended for educational purposes only, encouraging us to think critically and strive for progress. Let us embrace the true "black magic" of science and technology and create a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come, Thank you.

Politics › Re: Advisers In Ekiti Sworn In With Ògún Idol, Quran By Ikere-Ekiti LGA Boss by Oloniyan(m): 9:28pm On May 07, 2024 |
Konquest: A Babalawo (is ALSO known as an Ifa priest). Both terms are used interchangeably.
indeed, Professor Wande Abimbola is an internationally-respected Ifa priest and was the two-term Vice-Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
I saw a picture years back where Professor Wande Abimbola was invited by the Roman Catholic Pope to an international gathering of the world's biggest religions to foster unity in Rome. This was after the year 2000.
Many educated Professors and intellectuals are Ifa priests (Babalawos) worldwide who understand the importance of cause-and-effect in human existence. They abhor negativity because of their higher state of spiritual consciousness. This is different from the fictitious "human sacrifice" representation in the scripts of some movies by dubious Nigerian movie producers. A group of Ifa priests (Babalawos) had interactions with the media houses to educate journalists and the public on the the differences between an Ifa priest or Babalawo who is the Priest of the Yoruba religion like you have an Imam or a Catholic priest, an Onisegun (a herbalist who uses herbs to treat or cure people) and an Oloogun Ika (those who use negativity to harm others). What are the differences among babalawo and onisegun and adahunse |
Politics › Re: Advisers In Ekiti Sworn In With Ògún Idol, Quran By Ikere-Ekiti LGA Boss by Oloniyan(m): 9:23pm On May 07, 2024 |
Konquest: Ogun is the God or deity of "War and Iron" in the Yoruba Religion (or Ifa Religion). "The Yoruba culture does NOT teach you to be weak and turn the other cheek, and this is why Ogun the "God of War and Iron" is venerated amongst the Yorubas for centuries (and also amongst other adherants in Benin Republic, Togo, Brazil, Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, etc). The iconic 1986 Nobel laureate, Professor Oluwole Soyinka (of Ijebu paternal lineage and Egba Abeokuta Ransome-Kuti maternal lineage) is an adherant of the Ogun deity, and he gets invited annually to Cuba, Brazil, the U.S. and elsewhere in the Diaspora to give talks to enthusiastic folks on the Yoruba Religion.
Ogun is NOT an "idol" but a deity of the internationally-known Yoruba Religion. Some journalists like this Cable reporter are indeed ill-informed right from Journalism School and have to learn to upgrade their knowledge of modern language usage when writing for the general public including learning to respect the faiths of others.
Some don't even realize that it's WRONG to use the word "disabled" to refer to physically challenged folks in their publications. Physically challenged folks are NOT disabled in absolute terms.
The use of the term "half-caste" is also a dated term and WRONG to use as it is derogatory. The appropriate term for journalists and others to use is "biracial man or biracial woman." Even at that, I believe that race is a social construct. All these grammar on top that misuse of words! |

Do you Know What are you saying?😏😕
Eedris Abdulkareem and Dagrin are NOT from the same Generation.🙄
Eedris Abdulkareem is the FIRST known Rapper Nigeria produced. Followed by Ruggedman, Mode9, Terry tha Rapman, Ill-Bliss, etc. Eedris deserves some Accolades.😒🙂
As per Indigenous Rappers, we had Nigga Raw, Konga and Lord of Ajasa, before Dagrin came.
Dagrin did NOT inspire anybody.🙁 Dagrin inspires indigenous Yoruba rappers. Lord of Ajasa was trying but Dagrin took it to another level with boldness and authority. Tell me how many Yoruba rappers you Knows apart from Lord Of Ajasa, Reminisce and Seriki before Dagrin came into limelight |
