In the beginning of creation, God instituted the first marriage when he created for Adam a wife, Eve. After blessing them, he commanded them to give birth, multiply, and fill the earth. Even after the rebellion, they had to continue living together, and they faced the punishment together. This is how the marriage has been designed for better or worse. The question now is, in this journey of life, how can you choose your partners wisely?

In our generation, the marriage design has been disarrayed as people get married for different selfish reasons, starting from building empires, getting contracts, and citizenship. And because this is not the aim the originator of marriage has made it, it often leads to a catastrophic ending, starting from emotional disappointment to divorce.

In the book of Genesis, after God created Adam, he assigned him the job of naming the animals and taking care of the garden, but God noticed that man cannot live alone and he would need a helper, so he created the woman, that is, Eve. What do we understand by the word helper in this context? The word helper means someone who is assisting a second person in achieving a task. This help could be physically, emotionally, or mentally. With this, we can say Adam is meant to be assisted or supported by his “partner” Eve. That is why they say” behind any successful man is a woman.”

In this current generation, we do not choose well anymore. A man sees a curvy hot lady and concludes that’s his missing rib, a lady sees a handsome man with expensive wears, she concludes that’s her soul mate, and boom! Within 1 month, they are married without any proper courtship or background check. Then, after six (6) months of marriage, we hear stories like” I never knew you were like this”.

In conclusion, if you want your marriage to be a blessing, you have to calmly observe the woman you are going out with, check her family background, know her goals, know what she wants in life, and after you are satisfied with this results, have it at the back of your mind that: you must be ready to make it work out at all cost. Then be assured you would have a blissful marriage. Apart from doing this, you will end up in a catastrophic marriage that will cost you your happiness.

After a long day at work, I slipped out of my workstation to take a puff from the almost empty joint in my wallet. I had to go to Oshodi underbridge, which is the closest shanty around that I could do my shit. Upon arriving, I slid into an empty vehicle to secure myself from the prying eyes of people who may know me. Alas! Looking around in the bus, I saw kids not more than the age of eight ( holding joints as big as my arm. I was shocked and kept asking myself. What is this kid's parent doing?
The above scenario became a norm to me as every day I go to this location, and I make friends with these kids. So whenever we got into a conversation, I asked these kids where their parents are, and the same answer kept popping up.” I don’t know where they are “.Then I realized they are all products of “accidental discharge,” which could have occurred from a one-night stand and premarital sex.
I remember then, while growing up, we had dreams of going to school, getting a job, having a stable job, and then having kids. But the question now is, can we face the responsibility of raising a child?
From my observations, I realized that most people are giving not for the sake of caring but from the fear of “who is going to take care of me when I grow up?. But the funny truth is that most people who have children do not have them around to take care of them.
Outside there, we have a lot of baby mamas who are meant to be taken care of, who cannot even identify their rights from there left. How are they going to raise a child who would be useful to her or society rather than being a nuisance and causing headaches? These girls do not even know what age they are to start teaching their children about sex, how the children should act in public, or even how to caution them when they play truculently.
In conclusion, what I see is that anybody can care for a child, even a random day care center around the corner can do that. But raising a child requires maturity, and a lot of mental, physical, and emotional efforts, which will definitely yield in the Child being a blessing.
