He also confirmed Jibril publicly after the well-known visitation that the Companions witnessed, saying, that was Jibril; he came to teach you your religion (Sahih Muslim 8 ). So, while the Qur’an refers to Jibril as the messenger of revelation, the Prophet’s own confirmations documented through various hadith reports leave no room for doubt; this is solid evidence. The text simply doesn’t specify who the messenger was.

Since the Torah doesn’t name any angels in the stories of Moses, saying Gabriel never spoke to Moses is really just an argument from silence, not a fact found in the Bible. Later texts, like those in Daniel and Luke, do mention Gabriel, but that doesn’t rule out his earlier missions; it just means that the earlier books don’t name any angels at all. Some Jewish commentary even suggests that Gabriel had additional missions that aren’t explicitly mentioned in the Torah. So, the idea that Gabriel could not be the messenger to Moses isn’t accepted in Judaism, Christianity, or by historians.
