The subject you mentioned are within my area of specialization (Pure Mathematics).
I want you to understand that you need to understand elementary Inequalities to be able to make any reasonable progress in Real Analysis. I strongly suggest you read about triangle inequalities as well. A well grounded knowledge in Coordinate Geometry is highly recommended as well.

As for Algebra. You need intellectual maturity. But this can only be gotten by dedicating time and effort towards understanding the basics of proof writing techniques and Mathematical logic.

1.Rxd5 exd5 2.Bxd5 queen is pinned

After Rxd5 the only move that doesn't hang the c4 knight as far as I've seen is Ne7 but after Rd7 material is equal but white is much better(bishop pair/more active pieces in general)

Edit: Nb6 also works but white should still be better

After 1.Rxe6 if 1...fxe6 2.Rf3 and the queen is pinned. After 2...Qxf3 3.Qxf3+ the extra material and unsafe king should be decisive.

1...Qxe6 is similar.

Good one Sir. I know this method but I'm not really a fan of the characteristic polynomial approach. I love my Generating functions.

Question 5 asks for two things. I'm talking about the second one about finding k, I've gotten a partial solution but it involves a lot of bashing.

I would love to see your approach to the second part of question 5 though

There are other possibilities to consider for y - k. I only picked the one that works so the solution should be longer than this.
