Do Not Say Things If You Do Not Have Evidence — Journalist Rufai Oseni blasts Peter Obi over new Claim of Winning 2023 Election without evidence

Journalist Rufai Oseni has reacted to former Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s recent statement that he won the 2023 presidential election but he doesn’t have evidence to back his claim.

Speaking on Arise News, Oseni said Obi should not make such a claim if he does not have evidence to support it.

“Mr Peter Obi, it is best you do not say things if you do not have the evidence. I must have to repeat it, because when you say that I won the election, you don’t have the evidence to back it up. Then people do not take what you say seriously.”

Oseni also questioned whether Obi had conducted a detailed analysis of the election results before making the claim.

“Didn’t you have back-end analysis of result by result before you make the claim? Where are all your own data spreadsheets on the back end that assert your claim? Where is your own back-end collation that asserts your claim?”

He added: “So it is very spurious to say I won something, but when they say where is the evidence, no evidence. I mean you might feel the urge that you won but if you don’t have the evidence to back it up then you didn’t win”

I Won The 2023 Presidential Election But I Don’t Have Any Evidence To Prove It. Everything Is Not Based On Evidence — Peter Obi

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has maintained that he won the 2023 presidential election, despite the courts dismissing his challenges to the election results.

Speaking during an interview with BBC News, Obi was asked about his claim that he won the election and his previous assertion that the election was rigged.

“Frankly I don’t like going back to the past but I still think what I think,” Obi said.

When asked if he had evidence to prove his previous claim, he responded:

“Well there is no evidence, everything is not based on evidence”

The interviewer then countered that Obi could not continue talking about the future while choosing to ignore the past. However, Obi stood by his position, stating:

“I won the election”

Rev. Ezekiel Danchomo, a Plateau-based cleric and regional leader of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), who has been vocal about k+llings and insecurity in northern Nigeria, has prayed for President Bola Tinubu and his administration during his visit to Israel.

Danchumo has previously called out the government over att@cks on communities in Plateau State and demanded stronger action to protect Nigerians from t+rrorism and other forms of vi%lence. He has also sought international attention for the k+llings during his visit to Israel.

Security Forces Eliminate Senior ISWAP Leader in Ondo Forest

An intelligence-led operation by a combined team of Nigerian Army troops, Department of State Services (DSS) personnel and officers of the Western Nigeria Security Network, also known as Amotekun, has reportedly eliminated a senior leader of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), Abdussamad Ohida, alias Anwar, in Owo forest, Ondo State.

According to security sources, Ohida and several other members of the terrorist group were killed during a surprise attack on their forest hideout at the weekend..

The sources said Ohida was formerly the deputy to ISWAP Central Nigeria leader, Abu Ikrimah, also known as Abu Uwais, who was arrested by the DSS in 2023. Following Ikrimah’s arrest, Ohida allegedly took over the coordination of ISWAP activities across parts of the North Central and southern regions.

Security sources further claimed that intelligence obtained through the interrogation of Abu Uwais helped the DSS uncover Ohida’s alleged plans to attack civilians during the forthcoming Yuletide and disrupt the 2027 general elections. The intelligence was reportedly corroborated by UK intelligence partners.

Ohida was also accused of planning and executing several att@cks, including the December 31, 2025 invasion of Ipele Divisional Police Station in Owo, where AK-47 rifles were reportedly st%len and the station destroyed with expl%sives.

He was further linked by the sources to att@cks on a military checkpoint along the Suleja–Zuba Road in Niger State in July 2022, Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja in July 2022, Ogaminana Police Station in Kogi State in April 2022, and Okene Area Command police station in February 2022.

The sources described Ohida’s reported elimination as a significant disruption to ISWAP’s leadership structure and its efforts to expand its operations into central and southern Nigeria.

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has promised to spend his holidays within Nigeria rather than travel abroad if elected president in 2027.

Obi made the pledge in his Independence Day address in Abuja on Thursday, explaining that he intends to use his four-year tenure to visit different parts of the country, engage citizens and understand their challenges firsthand.

He said, “As I have always done, I will lead by example. In four years as president of this great nation, I will not spend my holidays outside Nigeria. My holidays will be spent in Zamfara, Borno, Kwara, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti and other Nigerian states.”

The former Anambra governor added that he wanted to experience the country, interact with its people and appreciate their struggles and resilience.

He also promised to introduce measurable and accountable governance, with a focus on improving citizens’ welfare, security and productivity.
