Nefort: Thanks for the answers. I have just one last question; how much did the setup cost? 👉 Battery..8.2kWh.......900k as at then 👉 4.2kva hybrid inverter....460k as at then 👉 350watts Panel....6 pieces each cost 55k 👉Wire... It depends on the length and quality Just do the math, Note: I didn't do it once if not the upgrade that made me to cough out abt 1.5mili and I sold out my old tubular ba3, charge controller and inverter at a very good price. If you want to use information as a guide, I will advice you to look for an installer in your region, tell him what your power consumption and appliances are, he will guide on which system to go for and also the cost and affordable ones at your location. |

Nefort: How long does it last without recharging batteries? And what is the maintenance costs? These questions are giving interviews vibe, though I'll answer them. I do wake up in the morning to see my ba3 at forty something % despite sleeping late and running security lights all through the night, b4 11 am it will be in 100% although I'm using a bigger ba3 and enough panels. I have a zero maintenance cost for over 4 years that I have been using it. The only cost I incur was when I upgraded to Lithium ba3 and hybrid inverter last year and since then I have not recharge my prepaid meter till now. |

nairalanda1: The only way light can become readily available is via cost reflective tarrif.
The reason why GSM is readily available is simple. It was allowed to charge a cost reflective tarrif from the word go...which meant that
1. Investors were willing to spend money. Heck some states poured money into what is now Airtel back in the day
2. Banks were willing to lend money, because they knew they would get it back with interest.
3. The companies parents themselves were ready to pour money into the GSM expansion and improvement because they knew it was a profitbale thing
Power sector has never had those advantages, no one is going to invest in a sector where the majority are underpaying and 20% are not paying (unlike GSM, where 100% of consumers pay, and the era of cheats has long since ended)....hence we got GSM in abundance, and power is not in abundance
Plus discos and gencos poured in money from the word go. They did not see return of investment because underpaying and subsidy. Result...losses. Massive losses. I get your point and at the same time I won't criticize the citizens that beckon on govt to subsidize the power bills. It's not bad for govt to assist her citizens in one way or other subsidy it's not an ambiguous thing to request from a govt. We basically provides everything for ourselves despite paying heavy taxes |

nairalanda1: GSM charged cost reflective tarrifs when their service was, compared to today, bad.
And it attracted the investment to improve infrastructure. Government spent zero money on it (except to prop up MTEL which it owned and which was forced to operate at a loss in the name of cheap services, which meant no profit to compete with the big boys.).
Why not the same for power supply? I think we are on the same table, imagine how many average Nigerians buy data just to be scrolling on TikTok that adds nothing to their lives. They will definitely pay for light if it's readily available. I spent more on data than recharging my prepaid meter because there is no light. |

Nefort: Can it comfortably power ACs and freezers? It powers my deep freezer 24/7 and as for the AC I use it in the day time and some nights about 1 to 2 hrs when the heat is much. In addition to that I use it to pump water at anytime T |

As for me and my family we'll be managing our solar power till when Nigeria decides to get it right.
No doubt power is expensive we know and I believe people pay according to their consumption using prepaid meters. Make the power available, fix your tariff and watch if people will not pay and use it judiciously |

Is there any offense like expired spare tire (The temporary tire).
My wife was booked by FRSC for this offense, when she got to pay the fine she was told there is no such offense. They put call across to the officer that book her and he was like they should just put any offense that is within the charge amount range |
