Had to do UPS ground shipping to Houston and then got it shipped from Houston to nigeria. I used Honts Global.

Cost from Houston to nigeria was about $4.5 per pound.
Ups ground shipping cost from elpaso to Houston varies per box size and weight.. On the average $25 per box.

This has really been a value adding thread and a big thanks to all the contributors...

Just popping in to share my wife's POE experience this week. Will give background info..

Visa was secured earlier in the year for dis years vacation and we used it for the vacation in summer (By this time she had taken in).When we got back from vactn, we did some research on hospitals and concluded on Hosuton - WHMC... After further talks, we realised they weren't open to vbac and had to start a fresh search, which got us to elpaso, via doctoresparati.

Bill of almost $9k was given, for vbac, and we paid $4.5k in advance to avoid carrying excess cash and also as proof of willingness to settle all bills.
We also sent an email to the embassy and got the standard response.

Next we started work on flight and accommodation. Houston was avoided for obvious reasons. New York was strongly considered but, as a faith family, we agreed with one mind, that the flight with the least flying tym and connecting flights outside of Houston will be good enough. So we settled on Atlanta (Delta) and booked HisGraceLodge for stay.

Travel Date:
I am not sure aw my sleep went on the night of her travel.. I rmbr dreaming they cancelled the flight route and then took them to heathrow and then to New York.... Lol.

Her POE experience was a total of 10mins of talk. 6mins wt d 1st guy. 4mins wt d 2nd guy.

1st guy's question
Reason for coming / duration / why is hubby not wt her / what does hubby do / what she does in 9ja..
And then the guy did finger prints and said he wld take her to another person to confirm what she has said

2nd guy's question
Have you made any payment to d hospital. (She showed d pymt rcpt), asked if she had cash, (she said yes) How much (she answered - a little below $10k and brought it out of her bag).
He nodded but didn't collect or count. And then stamped her in for 6 months and then told her she could rest and take her tym before leaving d office (what kind of rest is that!,) she got up and left as quickly as possible and headed out to look for waiting area for elpaso flight.

She has had her clinic at elpaso and made the balance payment. And so far, so good, she's happy with the clinic and personnel.

I do hope this inspires someone and I pray for greater favor for everyone... For visa, for smooth POE experience and for safe deliveries. May God grant our heart's desires.

I feel the writer's plight.. And I also think the officers might have their "off" days.. Still flew airfrance recently and final destination was london... None of such passport checks..

With joy and glory to God we announce the safe delivery of our baby girl on Saturday 25th October at about 9pm at Del so Medical Elpaso. Mother and baby doing great.......God bless us all. It wasn't easy to be in Nigeria and wife is in labour in USA but God made all things beautiful.

From her previous posts, she was already in the US. She was supposed to use El Paso till she found out they are not so VBAC friendly and opted out.

I hope she makes the right move at this critical stage of her pregnancy.

Hi Phema, is elpaso not vbac friendly? Thought they were open to vbac just that they bill at a higher rate for vbac because they have to put emergency plans on standby. Plannning to use them later this year... Please do you know anyone who has used them for vbac before? Will appreciate any contacts' info. Thanks.

damsell: hey everyone. @MadameU, @Tvegas has just about said it all. For my mum's interview, we gave her a letter of intent/consent stating financial responsibility for her trip, copies of our own DS-160 confirmation form(because we had not yet collected our visas), her own confirmation form and passport and visa receipt and appointment schedule(of course), her national ID card and voter's registration card, her own properties documents and of course hubby's statement of accounts(as the sponsor). Plus 2 days of adequate coaching on the questions to expect and the answers to give in line with what was filled on her DS-160 form. All in all, not one of the documents was she asked for at her interview(apart from the passport and confirmation form of course), she didnt even have course to open the envelope to bring out any documents. They basically just asked her a few questions and issued her the visa. All the best with your mum-inlaw.

@omodaddy, I'm also headed to elpaso in Oct. but sorry I have no info on any creches or daycare centres, wish I could help. Better still, maybe you could send @fabulousmom a pm, she's one of the moms who used Elpaso previously(sometime last year i think) and if I rmbr correctly, she used a daycare service while there so she might be able to help you.

@funkiepop all the best as you reapply. The only suggestion I might be able to give is that you and hubby should try and include as many details as you can when filling the DS 160 forms. Though, the form doesnt really give room for too much details, try to include all that you do in the column for Job/work description, not just your formal place of employment job duties.This is because they need to establish first that you have 'strong ties' to Nigeria in evaluating your application. Are you or your hubby a member/founder/executive of any NGO/SBO/Charity organisation/community project, pls include it. Do you run any side business(es) no matter how small, pls include it. do you have land, property even if not yet fully finished or paid for? Pls include it. Are you enrolled in any career/personal development training or course, include it.Anything that suggests that you have concerns/interests here in Nigeria.(Also be ready to present documents to the effect of these claims as 'burden of proof') Plus of course, a good enough bank statement to show financial competence. Most importantly, may the favour of God rest upon you as you reapply.

@angel55 Im also in the same boat as you, these airfares are not smiling this period. Yet to conclude on my flight arrangements too. Planning to go through Dallas as POE and then connect to Elpaso but Im trying to get the whole routine sorted out from here so I dont have to start booking an over the counter ticket to Elpaso at Dallas. 1. Planning on using delta later dis year, basically because of travel time, and not too sure how friendly Houston POE is.
* Delta (via Atlanta) - u have some hours layover at Atlanta and a 3 hour flight to elpaso. Current cost about 392k
* United (via Houston) - u have a layover at Houston and a 2 hour flight to elpaso. Current cost about 370k.

2. Plan to take a cab to intown from airport.

3. Did an online booking at intown (no down payment, just book on hold) and it's about $210 per week.... Still considering Ramada... Yet to conclude.

Good day to everyone, and a huge thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum.. Been following the thread since last year and it did help in having an idea of what to expect for visa interview.

Planning on El Paso in December and really looking forward to meet anyone who has used it before for reviews.. Especially with regards to vbac... Planned on WHMC before but they don't allow vbac patients..

Anyone who has had a vbac @ elpaso before? Wld appreciate your feedback.
