TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Omoigbo01: 5:58pm On Oct 15, 2025
Hi

Has anyone successfully rebooked an appointment with VFS after missing the appointment. What happened was that I didn't pay attention to the date and I thought it was next week Wednesday but it was actually today, and with less than 24hrs notice, rescheduling wasn't possible.

I paid £150 to use the Portharcourt VAC and cancelling the application would mean I can't get a refund of the VAC fees. VFS phone numbers and emails aren't going through and I've sent someone to PH and they said only option is to cancel and redo the application but I'm super worried about losing £150 just like that!

I contacted them on X/twitter and they sent a link which says I can rebook for a fee of £20 within five days of missing the appointment but the reschedule button is still greyed out and not clickable making it impossible to rebook.

I'm kinda confused and feeling defeated now cause this is such a rookie mistake
TravelRe: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Omoigbo01: 7:00am On Jul 25, 2023
Hi everyone

Please I have a ask.
Recently I've become greatly interested in the Australia visa pathway. I've always been but it seemed so unattainable and somehow l ended up in the UK last year and thankfully got a skilled worker visa.

I'm a graduate of Library and information science and I currently work in the UK Higher education sector as a Student and Library Services Assistant.

I've got two options for VETASSESS skills assessment
1. Librarian - 224611 and Level 1 ( this gives me a more varied choice as I can apply for a number of visas - 190, 489, 187 494, 482 and 491) the most realistic pathway for me here seem to be 190 and 491
2. Library Technician- 399312 and Level 2 ( this only gives me the option of 494 and 187)
I want to assess as a librarian but I must admit my job description doesn't closely match with Librarian going by ANZCO's definition especially as student support services/front of house support is a core part of my job. I still do library tasks like Shelving, referencing, reservations, cataloguing and classification (at least my official offer letter/job description has these). I feel this is more closely aligned with library technician than librarian at least going by the description set out by ANZCO.

Has anyone here assessed as a librarian and got a positive outcome with VETASSESS? I no wan troway money 😀

Also, I'm barely one year into my role but willing to wait until December when I'll be officially one year working here so I can get positive assessment.

My profile
1.Less than 30 years of age
2.Degree qualification and masters in view
3.Could potentially make 10 points from English assessment and 20 if I'm audacious enough
4. Potential One year work experience in my nominated field
5. Unmarried
6. Registered member of the Chartered Institute for Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) UK
